Lucid air
I was recently stranded for two hours after my lucid air went “offline” and completely refused to function for no apparent reason. It was a Sunday so customer care was not available and when I contacted the roadside assistance I was informed that they can only tow the car to the nearest Lucid center 2hours away from my home and they couldn’t confirm if the center would be open to fix the problem or give me a loaner/ride back home!!! After contacting AAA to tow me to my house !!!! while waiting for them to show up the care miraculously came online again and started functioning!!! When I contacted the care center to report my experience I was notified very nonchalantly that the car can go offline for any reason at any time!!!!
I currently am afraid to drive the car and it sits in the driveway gathering dust while I get around in a 2008 Toyota Prius!!
Lucid should be ashamed of what they are doing! Either make a reliable car or a reliable system to handle problems when they come up or STOP selling cars all together!!!!

I am not sure how you got stranded because there are many ways to enter the car
Key Card always works
Fob works perfectly if you disable the easy entry
The phone as key via Bluetooth

And lastly the app

Always keep the key card with you because it should always work

It is apparent that you have not had the “offline “experience! And I hope it never happens to you. When the car goes “offline” NOTHING works!!! The car sits there like a dead piece of junk metal!! NONE of the systems are working!! No fob no card no app is functioning!! NOTHING!
Right now I am trying to figure out what my legal recourse is going to be!!! The company takes absolutely no responsibility.
I have also tried contacting the Saudi sovereign wealth fund because I heard they own 60% of Lucid stock!!!
I feel like I have been defrauded by Lucid.

Do you have a video of this? Have you tried contacting Lucid? Lucid has fixed plenty of issues.

A recommendation: you’ll win more sympathy and friends here without the hyperbole or vitriol.

I've had cases where the mobile app was unable to interact with the car. I've had cases where mobile key has not worked. I have not, however, found case where the fob or backup key (the flat card) did not work.

Are you familiar with the operation of the backup key, and did you have it with you at the time?

You should schedule a service appointment. Hopefully the car has enough data in the logs for Lucid to figure out what happened.

Having a car get “bricked” and not be operable is not unique to Lucid. I had a new Mercedes refuse to start (and could not even be jumped) on the evening I drove it home from the dealership. Dealership was closed, so only option was Roadside Assistance, who set up a tow. Had to get ride to dealership next day to pick up a loaner car. Yes, I was frustrated about not being able to experience my new car but after being repaired, but I did not threaten legal action. It was repaired and since then it has been mostly problem free for past 4 years.

The key metric here would be how common is it for a Lucid to experience this fault. If this failure is a 1 in a thousand occurrence, then probably similar to industry as whole and sucks to be one of the unlucky few to experience it. If however this a 1 per 100 occurrence, than yes, Lucid has a problem and needs to be addressed.

Threatening legal action every time something goes wrong in your life is not very productive.

So sorry to offend your sensibilities with my hyperbole and vitriol!!!
My post is actually aimed at the company not you personally (unless of course you work for the company?(: )And I am certainly not looking for sympathy or friendship from anyone !!
What I am looking for is a reliable car!! (Let us focus on the problem!) I want Lucid to honor their side of the deal.
What I said was they need to make a reliable car or a reliable way to fix problems when they come up or stop selling cars altogether!! When approached with the problem their response can NOT be “ the car can go into offline mode at anytime for any reason !” In that case I do not feel safe operating a vehicle that can leave me stranded God knows where for God knows how long!
I am willing to accept “this is a problem or a defect that can be fixed”. I am NOT willing to accept “the car can go into offline mode at anytime for any reason!!” Which is what I got!!!!
So my sentiment has no hint of hyperbole or vitriol which are words that both imply false exaggeration for effect!! My frustration every time I see my Lucid sitting in my driveway gathering dust is very real indeed!!!

Cool.

Then you’re in the wrong place. Their email is [email protected]. We don’t work for Lucid.

Take that up with Lucid, since you don’t want help from us.

They do.

I am almost certain that’s not what they said, but you don’t want my help.

Okay. Good luck with Lucid. Have a lovely weekend.

Yeah my car occasionally leaves the chat. I get the feeling that being around me all the time wears thin...she needs time to think.

It's a new world for the Boomers; with digital switches on everything we have time to ponder our choices while we wait for objects to decide if they want to interact with humans. Digital anything is so much slower than a thoughtless mechanical switch. Sometimes a digital car just doesn't agree with humans. I'm saying: maybe your car doesn't like you. I can't get the washer or dryer to start...there is no feedback on any of the digital switches.

You are “almost certain”? Why not “completely certain “? 😃

Because you have not shared any actual quotes or detail, and have suggested you’re not looking for my help. However, the world hasn’t suddenly turned orange and the sky isn’t green, so based on past experience I have suspicions, albeit without evidence.

You’re welcome to provide that evidence, and I’m happy to be wrong.

Sorry, thought that was obvious.

No amount of professional trolling changes the fact that I have an unusable car the Lucid is refusing to take responsibility for!!
Buyer be ware!

So, this issue happening to you once in your ___ months of driving it, makes it now unusable? Unless you can show me that this is a common issue that numerous people are having on a regular basis, I would not call your car unusable. All cars whether ICE or electric will occasionally break down and if you are unlucky, they might do it in an inconvenient place. I have had a car break down on me while away from home 4 times in the past 20 years and in most cases (various manufacturers), it was handled similar to you. Yes, I cursed and got upset, but the car was towed and repaired and I continued driving for many years afterwards.

When you said that Lucid should make a reliable car or a reliable system or stop selling cars, I said nothing because I have heard it before in this forum.

When you said customer care said very nonchalantly that the car can go offline for any reason at any time, I was doubtful but still gave you the benefit of the doubt.

When you remarked that that you
not looking for sympathy or friendship from anyone, I thought maybe he just has too many friends.

But when you accused @borski of being a professional troll, that is a bridge too far. At best, Borski is an amateur troll, but one who is interested in helping forum members. Since you have made it clear that you went to the trouble of joining this forum just to vent and to be rude to its members, I say good day to you and enjoy your 2008 Prius.
I'm sure the Saudis will be getting back to you soon.

Just so you know, there is ample reason for the skepticism and challenges in this thread. This forum (and auto forums in general frankly) get a fair number of what I call "drive-bys" where a new user, in usually their first post, comes in here ranting about some strange thing about their car telling everyone that Lucid makes terrible cars and should buy their car back, or something like that. Quadruple exclamation points are one of the tell tale signs of a drive-by.

To me, these look like pretty obvious attempts to damage the brand. I suspect some of these are bots, but I could be wrong.

Also, many of these quadruple-exclamation posters have never read their car's owner's manual. "My $120K car can't do X !!!!"... well, yes it can, thanks for posting, RTFM.
