Rivian is killing it on software!

This is the thing I find fascinating. Literally nobody I know, save one or two people, takes more than one or two of these trips in their entire lives. But everybody thinks they want to be able to twice a week, lol.

Rivian is killing it on software!

Efficiency. Everyone I know that has owned one has told me that the Air goes significantly further on a charge (more than 20-25%). That said, I haven’t driven a Rivian on a road trip - I’m inclined to listen to @Tesla2.0 since he has both and has driven both on long road trips. Although, I...

Getting my New GT in 2 weeks

Valet is the only reason I ever carry the fob. And because I never carry it, I usually forget it when I want to valet and end up having to self-park lol. Although, about 50% of the time, they ask me to park it dead center in front of the hotel/restaurant like it’s a Lamborghini lol

Lucid Air gets MAJOR price decreases...

I hear what you’re saying. However, I have yet to have anyone show me a trip plan that I couldn’t easily modify for more flexibility and better charging, even in “remote” places. Yes, the middle of a country is a bit of a charging desert - that is changing, but slowly. If you’re doing a...

While the first half of your post is entirely nonsense, I’d like to point out that you do need to pull a permit and should have home insurance if you don’t already. As for damaging walls, well, with a permit it will be a permanent and city-or county-approved installation, so they can get over...

Also, people constantly make the mistake of trying to charge fully, but the nice thing with something like the Lucid is a 10-15 min charging break is all you need for a few hours and another station. You don’t have to get to 80% or 100% with every single charge.

    New HV Battery

While I agree that’s a risk, it doesn’t necessarily have to go that way. Many companies separate service for their lower end models, with their luxury models being much better service. They usually call it a different brand (Toyota/Lexus, etc.) but they don’t *have to*. I don’t see why Lucid...

    Yo, Xponents.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you’re not thinking big enough. Imagine the future. Not the iterative future, but the ideal future. Skip a few steps. Then figure out how to get there. That’s how you innovate. Not by iterating on an existing tool. If anything, async...

Rivian is killing it on software!

I want to be clear that I really like Rivian. I’m not crapping on them. But their expertise and prowess is fairly orthogonal to Lucid’s imho, which is why I find it exciting as an idea.

Lucid Air gets MAJOR price decreases...

It’s funny because I couldn’t disagree more. People who don’t drive EVs don’t know how to charge them, but people who do tend not to have very many issues, as they tend to plan it better, but it depends very much on where you are. Starting in CA, I could easily drive to Montreal in an EV with...

    Yo, Xponents.

Completely correct. And that’s why, for example, understanding actual computer science and engineering from first principles is far, far more important than “learning Java.”

Rivian is killing it on software!

I think the real comparison will be when Lucid releases their all-terrain vehicle, which it sounds like it’s presently already working on. And yeah, I hear what you’re saying; we’ll just agree to disagree until we see what they come up with instead of speculating all day. :)

Rivian is killing it on software!

That's not what they meant by packaging. The Rivians are great cars, but there is plenty of lost possible space to be used, because that wasn't their main focus. Additionally, Lucid's motors would make a big difference, most likely. But either way, still a pipedream.
