    Hail damage in Chicago

Terrible. With my car, Lucid did the windshield, and the certified shop did body work at a later date, but then sent the car to Lucid for the calibration, which took a day. I think you should report your situation to Lucid and either they or the body shop cover the necessary work.

    Hail damage in Chicago

This is very helpful. There has been hail once or twice since that fateful day, but I think the car was already inside and the chunks weren't nearly as big.

    Hail damage in Chicago

Wow. Lucid did replace my windshield. That was the easiest part of the process. They brought a GT loaner to my house, and I drove that for 3+ days, and they brought my car back to where I was working. I think it was in this thread where someone said only Lucid can replace the windshield, and...

    Hail damage in Chicago

Yes, hood had to be replaced. That's the tldr. To elaborate, I took the car to the body shop when they said they had the necessary parts. I learned later the plan was to have "their pdr guy" assess before ordering a hood. I wish I had insisted this assessment take place before I left the car...

What to do if you have an accident with your Lucid

My Touring has been in the shop for over a month (I suspect they thought they would do pdr, and found they couldn't and needed to order a hood). Insurance covered a rental for 30 days. Now it's in final stages, but has to go to Lucid (who is of course backed up) for calibration. Does anyone know...

What to do if you have an accident with your Lucid

My AT has been in the body shop for a month. Shop says parts are slow in coming. Anyway, it seems they haven't plugged in the whole time, because the remaining range estimate keeps dropping. Should I worry? I suspect damage has already been done to the battery health.

Why America’s EV chargers keep breaking .... article on Politico website

I agree. 150-160 is nothing to sneeze at. I could have helped myself by not forgetting to charge to full before leaving home. Then we may have been able to do the first leg without charging. Also, a place like McD's might be a good partner for fast charging. The one we visited was outside Walmart.

The other guys actually moved to a 150kw, because that was their car's max. VW id4 and an Audi e Tron suv

Why America’s EV chargers keep breaking .... article on Politico website

I drove with the family round trip from Chicago suburbs to STL over the weekend. Told them we would stop for 20 minutes to charge at a 350 kw charger. Well the EA charger maxed at about 160. So, 30 minutes charging on the way down, and over 40 minutes on the return

    Hail damage in Chicago

Thanks. I had a car there about 20 years ago, haha. I'm sure a lot changed. Did you get a loaner from Lucid, or your own insurance company?

    Hail damage in Chicago

Update: PDR removed several dents, but the ones on the hood and one on the rear side panel are inaccessible. It was recommended to take the car to a body shop. Anyone know of shops in the Chicago area that work with Lucid and can get parts? Lucid named Gold Coast Auto Body and O'hare Auto Body.

Hello From Highland Park, IL (Chicago)

I have the Zenith Red, but I'm out in St Charles, so it must have been someone else you saw. But back in February, when I have even had the car for 10 days, I went to a kids' bball game, and saw a quantum gray parked there. Have to say, I was a little disappointed.

How many 20 inch tires will fit in Touring

Anyone know how many 20 inch tires, mounted on wheels, will fit in a Touring?

    Proper inflation pressure

Right, maybe they thought they could get away with civilians not messing around with the car, but these are tires. Most ev drivers are all over tire pressure, because that's how early manufacturers trained them. Also, they delivered cars with 20 in summer tires during winter in Chicago😂.

    Proper inflation pressure

Thanks! Disheartened to realize I've been shockingly under-inflating. Hopefully, I'll see a nice bump in efficiency now. But door panel says 42 psi for 20s

    Proper inflation pressure

I've been keeping my tires at about 42 psi, because that's what's written in the door jamb. Today, I got my car back from Service after a windshield replacement, and the invoice says tires were inflated to 49 psi. Car was delivered with (summer) 20s, but I've been using (all-season) 19s, but 7...

    Hail damage in Chicago

A local PDR tech said the hood's double layer and aluminum composition makes pulling those dents very difficult (Teslas have the same problem). Replacement may be the only option😰.

    Hail damage in Chicago

Totaled, wow. I could see if they were sitting in a dealer lot. I would not want to buy something like that. My car seems to drive ok. My real concern is the cracked windshield. I may seek paintless debt repair for the dings. For the glass, does anyone recommend Safelite, or a regular body shop?

    Hail damage in Chicago

We had golf ball-sized hail a few days ago in the Chicago suburbs, and my car was pummeled for at least a couple of minutes. Got some dings on the hood and driver's side door. More concerning is the crack in the front windshield. Haven't noticed anything on the glass roof, though. I filed a...
