We need the part number from the original poster. I’m now curious if I have the same PN. If this becomes more problematic, I wonder if a preemptive replacement would save all the other AC system components from needing replacement.

I don't remember exactly when heat pumps were made standard, but this is probably mostly true. 2022 and 2023 Airs seem to be the ones with the faulty compressors.

So wait. Essentially anyone who doesn't have a heat pump has the older AC compressor proving to be problematic? Am I understanding this correctly?

Then I think they're mistaken or misspoke, as I'm pretty sure there is no conversion or retrofit offered for older Airs without the heat pump.

He described that they said it would be a conversion, not a replacement. Yours was just a replacement.

$5k or more just to have a little more winter efficiency does not seem worth it at all to me. These cars have more than enough range even in winter and the resistive heating performance is adequate, IMO.

Unless something has changed since my was replaced I highly doubt this. Attached is the the parts list from when my AC compressor failed. No mention of heat pump parts and noise/performance is the same as before.

Yes the conversion is the heat pump.

The coolant is bad in thousands of these but I thought they were swapping it out no charge?

...the service provider is stating that the mechanic is suggesting changing the coolant -$810.00(I've had an issue with A/C that wasn't blowing the heat). Unless I switch this car with another. I have no choice but to replace the coolant. So far, I am driving the Loaner car until my car gets fixed.

For that I price, I would hope that the conversion includes the heat pump. For those of us living further up north, that might actually make the cost seem reasonable. If that's the case, I wonder if it's possible to pay for a conversion even if your current compressor is working

I did similar but I'm in a location that will need heat. Got a 2025 Air GT with just under 11k miles and so far I'm loving it!

Well I don't know if Halo does much but if it's all sentry, halo seems more efficient assuming it's working. My guess is the cabin overheat also plays a big role, but I prefer to leave it on in Texas because on my previous model s had screen issues which I think were related to the heat. Hope...

10,750 miles on it, 50% covered parking; 50% non-covered parking / week.

How many miles are on it. Could be some battery degradation if it's been allowed to sit 100% in the heat.
