Samsung / Google smartwatch app for Lucid Motors' vehicles

thanks for all the work going into this app. Really goes to show how little the barrier to entry is to make projects that can improve your daily workflows. This is the app I wanted, but didn't know I needed.
I use it even more than I expected. It's far more convenient than the phone, and faster now too in the next release.

Same, I used it today for real twice and was shocked at the convenience factor at home where I have mobile key disabled due to the phone being so close to the garage due to proximity of home office. The speed at which the watch app responds and shows status compared to the lucid app makes me wonder what the lucid app is doing differently that it's not seeing the car is ready. They must have conservative ping times, that's all I can think of. Excited to see this get released!

Part of it I suspect is that the Lucid app doesn't let you actually choose or start any actions until the car wakes up and the app sees that it's awake.

While testing my Garmin equivalent of this WearOS app, using the new faster polling endpoint, with the car asleep, I told my watch to unlock the car, and it had woken up the car and the doors unlocked before the watch even got the acknowledgement that the car was awake. It was 8s from the confirmation tap on the watch to the doors on a sleeping car unlocking.

I'n the official app, I'd have been still waiting for the app ti see the car awake before I could even tell the app I wanted to unlock the car!

I'll try to get that last (final?) release out early next week. I need to wait for my AI credits to renew so that I'm smart enough again.

I hear you, but It's not that....the mods I wrote for the WatchOS app actually wait until the car shows as awake, too, polling every second, then it unlocks the UI, allowing you to lock/unlock, etc.

It's taking about the sort of time you're talking about from a sleep state (depending on when the car pings the cloud, presumably). I can die of old age waiting for the full app to show the car as awake sometimes, even when I hear the car energize, see the orange light flash, and the locks become active. I then press the door handle, unlock the car, get in....look at the app and it's still Waiting for Car to Wakeup.

Thankfully this is less of an issue out of the house with mobile key enabled (it gets disabled at home all the time because the phone is in such close proximity to the car).

I've 'released' v0.2.0 of the garmin watch app. Gave the watch app some actual icons and more information. The phone app now grabs the car's status every 5 minutes and pushes the data to the watch. Though to be clear, if the car is asleep, it does NOT wake the car - and whatever information it grabs from Lucid is based on the last time the car uploaded data to lucid.
It also lets you set the climate on/off and choose the target temperature

The main screen also shows the inside/outside temperature reported by the car.

Loving it so far, works well with my Epix gen2

I've finished the "Lucid Access" app version 1.2.1 with very significant improvements over the prior versions. Many of these are due to the work and insight of @coma24. Development is complete for the time being - I think the app has reached a production-worthy state and plan to leave it as-is.

Here is a summary of changes:

The app’s response to changes in the car’s state has been greatly improved.
Login is now much easier on certain watch models.
Added car selection for Lucid accounts that have more than one vehicle.
The trunk and frunk icons now match the type of car (Air or Gravity).
The app no longer interferes with the unofficial Lucid Motors Home Assistant integration.

Complete instructions for use:

Lucid Access is an unofficial WearOS Android watch companion app for Lucid's vehicles, allowing locking and unlocking of doors, opening and closing of frunk and trunk, honking the horn and flashing the headlights.

Battery SOC percentage is displayed at the top of the watchface. The battery icon changes to yellow, white, or green for charge levels less than or equal to 20%, greater than 20% and less than 80%, and 80% or greater respectively.

The area below the Battery SOC% shows the car's chosen nickname when the car isn't plugged in for charging. The app can manage multiple Lucid vehicles on the same Lucid account - tap the vehicle nickname text to select a different vehicle.

If the car is plugged in, an indicator replaces the nickname, and charging power is displayed. The charging power text and the lightning bolt to its left turn blue for RangeXChange discharging, Silver for zero charging power (plugged in but not charging), and green for charging. Tapping the charging current text issues a stop charging command to the car.

There's also a tiny yellow polling status dot that appears briefly at the very bottom of the screen each time the app polls Lucid's Cloud API. The app connects to the car through Lucid's cloud, so it works when both the car and the watch have access to the internet (WiFi or LTE) - exactly the same mechanism as Lucid's phone app.

The Frunk, Door Locks, and Trunk buttons ask for user confirmation before sending their request to the cloud for safety.

Updating to this version:

Current users of the app can update to version 1.2.1 by navigating to the Play Store on their watch and scrolling to the bottom of the list to find "Manage Apps". Click this and look for an app called com.droid.... This is a temporary name given to "Internal testing" track apps in the play store. Update this app by clicking "update all", or long-pressing the app and selecting "update".

Alternatively, you can uninstall the app by long-pressing its tile in your watch's main app list, then reinstall the new version by clicking on on your phone the initial installation URL that I DM'd you.

If you'd like to try it:

Anyone else who woud like to use this app - send me a DM on this forum with your gmail address. I need to add your gmail address to Google's whitelist of approved testers, then I'll send you the installation URL for the app.

Hell yeah

The update is perfection. I don't know how you did it, but waking the car is faster from the watch than the mobile app after deep sleep. 😎
It's pinging the backend with a lightweight call to check status more frequently. "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?"

There are heavier, "give me the status of ALL my Lucids...yes all of them.....muahahahaha. SO many cars!" calls.... but the Lucid backend doesn't let you call those too often over a short period of time.

I went to significant lengths to determine the specific throttling logic of the "heavy" status call, and then verify the availability of a lighter call, along with confirming that it's NOT throttled. The app was then updated accordingly. By swapping to the light version, we can utilize a faster ping rate for a more rapid UI response. There's nothing we're doing that actually wakes it up faster, afaik. It's simply learning that the car is awake sooner.

Deep sleep still takes a while...but it really shines if it's just lightly snoozing.

Hats off to @DeaneG for taking the initiative to put this together, making the code available and being willing to accept proposed changes. We had a couple of back and forths and what could/should change (to avoid building out anything that wasn't on the original dance card), and things moved quickly after that.

This is such amazing work. Thank you both for the work put into this.

Are there any plans to move this out of the Beta channel and requiring potential new users of the app to message DeaneG for the access?

Mods - Can we PIN this thread so new people can easily find it?
