New CCCU

About a year ago I had these exact flickering symptoms on my center console screen. Turned out to be a bad CCCV1 which they replaced at the service center with a new CCCV1 under warranty. No more flickering.

It's not physically a big deal to install - the CCC is located behind some interior trim above the glovebox. I think there might be some technician time required for loading software and making sure everything is working properly after the brain swap. You'll need re-create user profiles, check every menu setting etc. Well worth it IMO.

Best to call your nearest service location and ask.
Mine is being installed as I type this. I’m on the deck drinking coffee and R is in the garage doing the major service and cccv2 upgrade. I’m going to keep the old unit for educational purposes, might ask if he has another knocking about so I can have two to break.
If I can I’ll try to grab a photo while he’s got the car apart.

Here’s a couple of photos
In the car, behind the glove box, in v2 bigger heat sink with active cooling (fan).
The other is v1

Scottsdale service won't do a mobile install. I just booked my upgrade appointment - Jan 13 is the soonest. I'm happy I didn't have a major problem to get resolved.

Would mobile service complete the install or would I need visit a service location?
I had the CCC changeover done by Lucid mobile tech last week... They have been doing them through field service here in L.A. since the new processor was first available... However, now with rollout of UX 3.0 there if probably a backlog of orders for installation, so it might take them a few weeks to get to you.

I just had the hw upgrade last week and pretty happy so far. It was easy to schedule, matter of fact my tech is going out for a few days to another sc to help out
So things are getting better, just not all at once.

Components have either gone bad or were somehow damaged from the swap. Warranty item.
Absolutely
That’s not a symptom of a sw problem but sounds more like a hw issue. If it were a connector then it likely wouldn’t impact only a portion of the screen; it could if it were a display edge connector otherwise no.

I tried to book a service appointment (not CCCv2) at Scottsdale a couple of weeks ago and was told the earliest available slot was mid-December. And that’s just getting into the queue. You can likely add another 3-4 weeks for repairs. The reality is that if you have a major problem your car is likely out of commission for 3 months. It’s going to be tough for Lucid to claim improvements in service centers when it takes a quarter just to get a car repaired.

I’m not the only person on this thread that has suggested they are seeing improvement where they are. I’m seeing improvement in scheduling so sounds like it’s a work in progress that is improving; potentially due to the new leadership.
But yes your absolutely correct that not all sc’s are seeing improvement yet.
I wonder how long it takes to train a qualified individual? Someone who just needs to learn about the Lucid.

I’ve told my new hires that I suspect it’ll take them between 6 & 12 months to be really independent for most work.

As an owner the only service center that matters is the one that you use.

I agree that the time to get a reservation and the queue time after dropping your car of in Scottsdale is unacceptable. 2 months for an appointment and 3-4 week queue. From the forum, we hear that things are similar in Beverly Hills and Houston. It is not the people at these centers, it is the load of work and the available resources. We have heard about improvements at many other service centers but these sites still need more resources. I hope that Lucid is able to quickly add resources but I have not yet seen an improvement in Scottsdale.

If anyone is wondering, my Gravity is in the Queue at Scottsdale now. It has been sitting in the parking garage at the Scottsdale mall for three weeks.

The Scottsdale SC handles a 5 state region. It outgrew its capabilities some time ago. It’s inconceivable that Lucid can continue to grow with these types of Achilles heels. And the solution costs money the company does not have.

I would say about a year and a half ago the load on Scottsdale grew beyond its capacity. When I got my Air in 2022 and for several years after that, Scottsdale service was phenomenal. It is not the people working there, it is the load.

So I have one new guy and lots of places I could put them. Every shop is over worked. Do I put them in a small shop that covers a greater area and where one person is doubling the capacity. Or I drop them into a shop with a larger team and their contribution is a tiny percentage productivity increase.

In the first case you now have a bunch of happy customers in one place and sad ones elsewhere,

In the second case no one is happier anywhere and customers still complain.

So if I were staffing I’d let new techs work one on one with the service tech there and as they get familiar you can move them to a different set of customers (SC). Done right new techs get service training and get some experience. And they then move to the SC that needs them and that they wanted to be. Or currently live

People aren't widgets that you just move around like stock... I'd hire people in/for places that I want to put staff, where each new person comes on would be dependant upon where I find good people to hire (posting positions in/for each market I want to hire into)... their initial training might be at another site, but that would not be anything other than short term initial training.... 'cause they are people... not parts.
