WINDSHIELD REFLECTIONS ( Dash & HUD)

At certain times of the day with the sun high in the sky I have this exact same bright almost pixelated white glare and agree that it's a problem. The glare can be quite bad and in fact dangerous and I'm not usually prone to dramatics.

I have 3 separate reflections depending on the sun, sometimes all 3 at once.
1. The white glare shown
2. The blue oval
3. Outline of the HUD framing

All of them are annoying but only the white glare feels problematic per se. As noted in the picture the glare is so strong that it is no longer translucent - you cannot see through it like you can with the blue oval or HUD frame reflections. I've seen it be considerably larger than the photograph above and it is DIRECTLY straight ahead as in the photo. Fortunately I almost never drive during the times where these are most likely to show

If I could do this over I would not get the HUD. I do like the speed and directions and such but with the dash being so visible already it's really not necessary. The left and right eye (or however these things work) are also not perfectly calibrated so the speed limit shows up as very mild double vision, I've learned to adapt so I don't get eye strain anymore but I can still see it. My wife got her Gravity 1 year after me and skipped the HUD for these reasons. Even if the advertised HUD VR stuff actually gets developed and is AWESOME I don't think I can recommend the HUD because of these issues. I do think they are significant enough that a recall or some correction needs to be issued.

Aside from the HUD glare - love love love the Gravity on a day to day basis. So much so that we now have 2 as noted above.

@marqie - It has been frustrating that since Gravity launch there has been not a single comment made by Lucid to my knowledge regarding the wide spread issue of poorly aligned HUD, the glares, or the roadmap to the VR HUD that was advertised on launch.
Initially I was very enthusiastic about the HUD, and the promise of the AR features that would come. But now that it's clear that the HUD suffers from a double whammy of hardware design flaws and a software team struggling to fulfill the promises Lucid has made, I'm ordering a car without it. Especially because I'm planning a three year lease, it doesn't seem sensible to pay a lot of money for an option that could easily be a year or more away from living up to the software functionality, and also the potential headache of demanding a hardware fix (if they ever make one).

I found an email for their "product safety" team: [email protected]. Has anyone tried to email them before about this or other issues? I get ghosted by the support team using the published support email. I just sent them the email below, and it didn't bounce. I hate to keep tagging in @marqie, but that's the only Lucid employee I have seen to be active on this forum.

I am located in Canada, it would be great if another owner from the US could send a similar email and indicate that a complaint will be filed with NHTSA. I am not sure how much clout Transport Canada will have. 😅

"To: Product Safety Team

I am writing to formally escalate a significant safety concern with my 2026 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring (VIN: *********429) involving intense sunlight reflections from the exposed heads-up display (HUD) mirror.

Under certain sunlight conditions, the HUD mirror produces an extremely bright, concentrated reflection directly in the driver's forward field of vision. This is not simply a minor reflection or cosmetic annoyance. The intensity of the glare can substantially impair visibility of the roadway and vehicles ahead, creating what I believe is a serious safety hazard.

This is not an isolated complaint. Numerous Gravity owners have documented similar experiences on Lucid owner forums and Reddit. One particularly compelling photograph illustrates just how severe the reflection can become:

I have raised this issue through Lucid's normal customer support and service channels but have received no meaningful response or indication that anyone at the corporate level is taking ownership of the problem. My local Lucid Service Centre has advised that there is nothing they can do until they receive guidance from head office.

Frankly, I find the lack of acknowledgment troubling, particularly given the potential safety implications. I would expect a vehicle manufacturer to have a clear process for investigating and responding to reports of conditions that may compromise driver visibility.

I am requesting the following:
  1. Written acknowledgment that Lucid has received and formally documented this safety concern.
  2. Confirmation that the issue has been escalated to Lucid's Product Safety and Engineering teams for investigation.
  3. Assignment of a named individual who will take ownership of this matter and serve as my point of contact.
  4. An explanation of whether Lucid is already investigating this issue and whether any corrective measures are being considered.
  5. Guidance on what Lucid recommends owners do to mitigate the risk until a permanent solution is available.
I would appreciate a substantive acknowledgment within five business days.

My preference is to work constructively with Lucid to resolve this matter. However, if I continue to receive no meaningful response, I intend to file a formal vehicle safety defect complaint with Transport Canada, documenting the issue, the experiences of other owners, and my unsuccessful attempts to obtain a response from Lucid.

I believe this issue warrants serious attention from Lucid's Product Safety organization. I am not expecting an immediate engineering solution, but I do expect acknowledgment, accountability, and a clear path toward investigating and addressing a potentially significant safety defect.

Regards,"
