Car locked with child inside and would not unlock

I got locked out of my car a couple of days ago. I use the fob as long as I have haven't misplaved it. I avoid using the phone as the key since it takes forever to wakeup and unlock the car and low cellular signal means I can't get into the car at times. I don't use passive phone unlock since every time I went to the garage with my phone it would unlock the car.

I had just parked at work and got out to make sure I wasn't going to hit the concrete block that they have in that location. And the car locked on me with my phone and the fob inside. I couldn't unlock the car. I was upset because my laptop bag was also inside so I couldn't just ignore the situation for a few hours. Luckily, I remembered that I had the key card in my wallet since I had misplaced the fob for a few days. So I was able to get out of the situation.

I came across this thread and the other one on Gravity and disabled passive lock from the car the next day since I don't want to deal with this. Their whole fob/PaaK implementation is so messed up. I accepted it as one the shortcomings of the Air since there is a hardware angle that most likely can't be resolved. Those who defend them on this have the right to do so but Lucid messing this even on the Gravity is unpardonable.

To sum it just use the fob and disable passive unlock/lock. The fob has it's quirks but it generally works well enough.

We’re all the objects on the passenger side? On the seat? (Keys, Laptop Bag, Phone? )

They (manufacturers) are considering your safety (even though customers maybe experiencing situations that do the opposite.)

All of the luxury brands have this feature that unfortunately isn’t going to go away.

I literally get out of the driver's seat, go to open the back driver's-side door, and the handle won't open.
All the while my phone is in my pocket or my hand.
That is just bad software that doesn't know the phone is still there and that I may want to get into another door or the trunk.
Pretty effing ridiculous (my opinion)
the Tesla doesn't exhibit this kind of behavior.
Don't get me started on the lack of good software engineering in this car. It doesn't exist. It never has.

Worse for what?

This is a thread on the car locking unexpectedly.

My RR experience with keys/locking/unlocking has been perfect.

I totally agree. Every time I have to drop my grocery bags at the driver door, take my phone out and wave it around, just so I can pick them back up and go back to the trunk I ask myself why I still have this car....

Hopefully whoever is responsible for this clunkiness got fired.

But… it’s not designed to do that, love.

It’s not a magic wand, it’s a key still. You would still need to unlock the vehicle if only one door is ajar.

Your phone is the transmitter and its signal is what wakes the cR
The car isn’t sitting there on, wasting power, waiting for you to walk by
Oh and phones sleep and go into low power mode to save battery

That’s not the behavior I get from my iPhone 13pro
What are you using
And if there’s two objects why the F do people always first blame the same one
Phones are at least if not more variable than the cars are
And I don’t simply mean android or iPhone but who’s android what os and hat else is running on that phone

That is odd
I wonder do you have more than one driver, linked phone? If I can ever pry my wife’s phone away from her I should try linking her phone to see how it behaves. She’s on an iPhone 16, no android phones here
