Looks sharp! Thanks for sendingPicking it up today after getting it wrapped, ceramic and tinted but here’s on day of pickup. If you want more, send me a private ping.
Sounds like the DDPro saga on the Air all over again! Ambitious goals, exaggerated claims, charges extra for it, but languished for years to come close to the promises! As @borski mentioned Lucid has/had plans for an amazing AR HUD. It’s unclear if/when they’ll deliver those features. There’s been so many other bugs to squash or higher priority features to intro (CarPlay/AA), that it seems HUD took a backseat (pun intended).
Hopefully, they’ll improve it over time.
As others have said, the position of the clear view cockpit is excellent (IMO), so I opted for no HUD and don’t miss it (right now). I notice how great the cockpit position is on Gravity every time I have to drive our R1S and look down and “through” the steering wheel to see the screen.
DDPro does exactly what it says on the tin. It was never promised to do point to point, and it does highway hands-free just fine.Sounds like the DDPro saga on the Air all over again! Ambitious goals, exaggerated claims, charges extra for it, but languished for years to come close to the promises!
I never thought DDPro is FSD. It took a long time to rollout and its functionality trails competition.DDPro does exactly what it says on the tin. It was never promised to do point to point, and it does highway hands-free just fine.
It’s not FSD, but they never said it was going to be.
The reason Lucid’s is projected so far forward is because the plans include using augmented reality to show lanes on the road, as arrows on the ground in front of you, to point out which exits to take, etc.Been putting some highway miles on the Gravity, which is something I don't really do much.
Came home from Northern Michigan, 2.5 hour trip. Hands free is pretty darn good!
After getting home, I jumped in to my wife's Polestar 3 to run to the car wash. I noticed her HUD display appears as if it is at the leading edge of the car. When I got back in to the Gravity, I noticed the HUD display is projected to appear about 10-12 feet in front of the car. Clearly projected in space way in front of the vehicle as opposed to the P3 being basically projected to be a windshield display.
As these are the only HUD-equipped cars I have ever owned, I'd love some feedback and experiences about where the display is projected in competing makes.
I have a totally new respect for what Lucid is trying to do as compared to Polestar - please help me learn what other companies are doing.
Thanks in advance! Dream (and look) Ahead!
What he said... Typical HUD is projected 5' to 10' in front of the windshield. While AR HUD systems project 50' or more ahead of the car.As these are the only HUD-equipped cars I have ever owned, I'd love some feedback and experiences about where the display is projected in competing makes.
Looks like Mercedes offers something like it in at least S-Class.The reason Lucid’s is projected so far forward is because the plans include using augmented reality to show lanes on the road, as arrows on the ground in front of you, to point out which exits to take, etc.
That doesn’t exist yet, but that’s the reason it’s projected so far forward.
Yes, GM, Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi all offer AR HUD. (GM's AR HUD supplier just went Tango Uniform, so they deleted the option from all future builds.)Looks like Mercedes offers something like it in at least S-Class.
The only other HUD I've ever used is in our 2025 Porsche Macan EV. It's dead solid perfect. Love it. And it's the main reason I opted to get the HUD in the Gravity. It's perfectly aligned, bright, clear, and I had no problem seeing it with my polarized prescription sunglasses.Yes, GM, Mercedes, Porsche, and Audi all offer AR HUD.
