Lucid Gravity in Service for 9+ Weeks — Can I Request Lease Payment Reimbursement?

I did that. I cleaned them with alcohol, I cleaned them with soap and water. I had them replaced once already and the new ones are just as bad, even after cleaning.

They skip and chatter, they leave a huge part of the windshield unwiped and are just bad. It's one of the most maddening things about the Gravity, wipers are a pretty well known commodity at this point and yet Lucid had to try to reinvent the wheel with their own ridiculous super custom blade.
My wiper blades chattered for the first few days until I washed my Gravity - blades and windshield at the same time. No problems since.

For those having problems, are you going through automatic car washes with RainX or some other polymer wax? I did this once with an older car a long time back and my wipers started to chatter. The blades didn’t get along with whatever was deposited onto the windshield. I avoid automatic car washes - brushless or otherwise.

Over three years ago, I swapped to silicon blade inserts and they are fantastic. I used to replace normal blades every year, as they would get stiff and stop “flipping,” which would be the start of streaking. The silicon blades worked great for at least two seasons. I changed blades on one car after 2 years and on my second car after 3 years.

I am in the Chicago area and only change my blades every 2 years and never have problems. I have rainx on all the windows it its pretty successful and negating a need for wipers in anything other than a torrential downpour. My Gravity was bad for 5 months since I took delivery of it in Nov snow storm and never got to actually clean it manually and put rainx on, but after that its been great. I use those manual car wash bays where you can change the setting and skip application of whatever various cleaners and protection you want...

I agree about the wipers and have commented elsewhere:

We get foggy drizzle in the summer here and using these Gravity wipers makes a mess! I now carry window cleaner and a lint free cloth and find myself pulling into gas stations again just to wash my windows. You get ppl cocking their head sideways when you pull up to the pump in an EV! 😜

Back on thread topic, I thought my 3weeks in service was bad but 9weeks is just lame

I got you beat at 120 days!

You can request a buyback. It used to be they would offer you 3 months reimbursement in exchange for waiving your lemon law rights.

However if you don’t accept it they will fight you all the way through forced arbitration.

I am going through it for the second time and am just getting ignored. The entire buyback department is gutted. I will probably sue them. But that’s where you start is contact service and ask them to start the buyback process.
I sent them an email. But no one replied to me yet.

Did you ask for an equivalent loaner? They may not have one available immediately, but I’d think they would put you as priority when one came in, especially with a 9-week repair timeline.

My Gravity was in service for a while and I declined a loaner as I had other transportation, unless I could get a Gravity loaner. I very much wanted to drive my Gravity for an upcoming family road trip - yes, it’s that much better than all other vehicles for road trips, IMHO. My service advisor went out of his way to reserve a loaner Gravity when one became available, and one came in the day before my road trip.

The service centers do their best and most people genuinely want to help, but they have their own constraints. Shout out to Ruel @ San Jose service center for going above and beyond.
I got Model Y thru Enterprise

I'm at over a month waiting, they have ignored my follow up emails. Service has been responsive and said they will try to get buyback to call me back. Last time I went through this, they were effecient in processing my request, informative and professional. This time, totally ghosted, its not even the same email address. My attorney (who does lemon law) said it appears they are stalling or just...gone...and we might just have to sue them to get a response. They will 100% lose in court, but serving them a civil suit might be the only way to get a response from the new managment, which would be a very sad change in customer relations. I will give them a few more days before making that decision especially since my service advisor is now trying to help me, but its absurd that customer service has gotten worse under new leadership. It also seems like service and buyback are not getting along any better than they ever have.

Did you opt out of forced arbitration within the first 30 days of buying your vehicle? If not, you cannot sue them, and should pursue arbitration if that is your desire.

Wow this is just crazy

I can give Saudi service center 11 out of 10 comparing to what I am hearing here

My car broke down 2 months ago due to drive unit failure and they gave me a loaner in about 1 week after the grace period (first 6 days they do not have to give a loaner by law)

Then I was assigned an engineer to work in my car and he was extremely professional and give me an update very time I was asking , it took about 1 month to fix but they did fix everything in the car including some issues I did not know about then sent me the final work order of everything done to the car

This was my first major issue with the car since 2 years of ownership and 20k kilometers

Not sure why anyone wouldn’t go lemon law route if the situation warrants. Nine weeks is asinine - what that probably means is they will get around to looking at in seven weeks and hope to take only two weeks to actually fix it.

If you have a loaner or a rental car, this is perfect example of the financial foolishness of the current service model.
If you get a loaner or rental, you have no case. Unless it falls into a problem they couldn’t repair.

Please do not provide legal advice if you are not an attorney. This is false information.

I have a similar question here. My driver's side window recently became stuck in the "down" position. Lucid sent a mobile tech out to look at it and said there's a part that needs to be replaced, but that part is on backorder with no ETA for when they will get it. I don't really feel comfortable driving the car anywhere and parking it with the window completely open. I also don't really want to park it in the garage because my wife has mobility issues and she parks there - having her park out in the driveway would require her to walk more. So it looks like I am stuck with an unusable vehicle indefinitely. I would be okay with a loaner, but not sure if that will be an option - I think the car needs to be "in repair" at Lucid to get a loaner, and they won't give me an appointment without the part they need being in stock. Am I just screwed?

I think so... you also don't wanna leave it at the SC for weeks collecting dust with the window open

Took in my Gravity for service last Thursday - "Drive System Needs Service". It's still in queue, waiting to be seen.
I am in DMV area. I was loaned a Gravity Grand Touring. It's not fully loaded.
No Surreal Sound Pro (sound quality is slightly downgraded) and no Dynamic Handling Package (missing Rear Wheel Steering, and difference in cornering is very noticeable).
I am glad that I bought the fully loaded version.
