Is HUD now available on newly ordered Gravities?

I remember there was an issue about a year ago that was unavailable or back ordered.

I really want HUD. I first experienced it on my corvette over 15 years ago.

For those who do have it on their Gravity, does it work well ?

I do believe it's available on new builds. I waited until it was available to take delivery of my vehicle. However, it is the one thing in my car that I am wholly unimpressed by. The positioning is never ideal and often time looks distorted if you try to position lower. I hear it may be improved in the next software update and maybe that will change my mind about it, but at this moment I would recommend skipping the HUD. Having said that, I do believe they can probably fix a majority of issues with it with software updates, so if you're willing to wait...

Outside the HUD, I've been thoroughly happy with my purchase and highly recommend the car after nearly 20k miles.
 
That’s surprising when my wife's Lexus SUV has it and it’s perfect. Same with my 2007 corvette. Car companies have had this for many years.

Dude, Lucid is still struggling to get their key fobs to work...

From what I can tell on the configurator, all GT-S's come with the Tech Package, so the HUD is included. I'm assuming from your other thread you are looking at the GT-S so you'd get it in that version.

Their goals with a HUD were much more ambitious than a classic HUD. The AR they plan to integrate is extremely impressive, but doesn’t yet work.

So yeah, the reason other HUDs are fine is simply because they do less.

I’m hopeful Lucid’s HUD reaches its full potential, because if it does, it will be a massive winner.
 
I had an HUD in an Audi Q5 pHEV that was ok and maybe even a teeny bit cool, then I test drove two different Gravitys and found the rectangular reflection in the windshield on this vehicle to be horribly distracting (hadn't even noticed it in the Audi 🤷‍♂️) and then read countless posts on here about how disappointed, unimpressed, regretful, etc.. ppl were that got it so I opted to skip the tech pkg. and don't really miss it. I find the elevated positioning of the Cockpit panel to be more than aqequate for speed limit and blind spot camera displays and honestly feel I don't need a HUD and don't need the windshield cartoons...just my opinion

I have it but keep it turned off for now. Hoping a future update brings the Augmented Reality to fruition but for now it is pretty basic. There is no AR currently. It shows current speed vs speed limit and will display an arrow indicating a next turn when navigation is on. Blind spot warnings show up as well. Visualization is a bit blurry but it was the same for me with the HUD on my Merc EQE. So maybe it’s my eyes. It also appears somewhat faded if your chair position is high. The lower your chair, the brighter and clearer it becomes. Hopefully all can be improved with software updates.
 
I have had my Gravity with HUD for almost a year and I keep hoping the next OTA will bring something special for the HUD! It would be nice if Lucid would confirm something is in the pipeline!
 
Not necessarily anything special, but the latest update seems to be using the driver attention camera to orient the HUD and it has been much more usable since the update.
 
I’ve had my gravity with HUD for 9 months. I use it, but my wife refuses (she finds it distracting and can’t find a placement that works for her). I’ve reported to Lucid service twice that the display is angled down on the left. (Left side of display appears lower than right side). They respond that they agree but there is no adjustment they can make. In my last discussion with the tech, he suggested it was the curvature of the windshield.. I disagree because the line of the information is straight, ie it’s not curved. I would love to see Lucid provide more tuning for placement and alignment, along with options for what is displayed. Their original marketing video indicated a much more robust display… I believe the capability is there, but Lucid needs to rework the software they received from their 3rd party provider…
 
You may be disappointed when compared to other manufacturers, however I would be disappointed if I didn't have it.

Lots of room for improvement, but it works after seat adjustments from where I would probably "normally" sit, but if they do improve during the life of this lease, I would be unhappy if I didn't have it.

You pay for it, but the outlets and dynamic lighting are used by me, so it isn't a negative. It comes down to money. It's worth it to me - YMMV.
 
Yes you can get the HUD and yes it works about as good as a plain Jane $600 HUD. Not worth anywhere near what Lucid is charging (even with the added extra interior ambient lighting). Lucid has been totally mum on when or if this HUD will ever get the AR functionality that was promised.
 
As @borski mentioned Lucid has/had plans for an amazing AR HUD. It’s unclear if/when they’ll deliver those features. There’s been so many other bugs to squash or higher priority features to intro (CarPlay/AA), that it seems HUD took a backseat (pun intended).

Hopefully, they’ll improve it over time.

As others have said, the position of the clear view cockpit is excellent (IMO), so I opted for no HUD and don’t miss it (right now). I notice how great the cockpit position is on Gravity every time I have to drive our R1S and look down and “through” the steering wheel to see the screen.

I quite like my HUD. I wish it could go a little lower on the windshield, but it is acceptable as is. It is quite useful when using navigation, showing your next turn as well as flashing triangles on either side of the HUD indicating there is someone in my blind spot.
 
Just got my Gravity with HUD. Initially I wasn't even able to see the HUD, which was because my sunglasses were polarized in the wrong angle :) The HUD, as hardware, is great. It is similar to AR HUD hardware I had in my EQS. Similar screen size, brightness, clarity.

However, it is not feature filled right now. It does show turns, speed etc so everything you want is there but it doesn't do AR navigation. My EQS also showed parking sensors and a mini-map on the HUD. Minimap was a gimmick (very small) but parking sensors were handy. I am hoping Gravity will soon update the HUD features, it is all software after all given hardware is there. Given their progress on hands off driving, I am hopeful HUD will get better with in a year as well.
 
Picked up my Gravity on Saturday and I’m in love. I went back and forth on the HUD but after much research and many test drives, I chose not to get it due to the blue blub, glare from the HUD casing, and angle of which the information is presented (right in line of sight). While the dynamic lighting would’ve been cool, the simplicity of the lighting without it is very nice and crisp/clean. Overall, very happy with my decision to purchase without the HUD, and so far, very happy with my purchase of the Gravity itself.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who contributed in my decision.

Lucid's HUD fiasco boils down to a contrast issue, for me. The bezel reflects slightly brighter than a normal Gravity's dash, and then with the inner square remaining nice and dark (better than Gravity w/o Tech), you understand the distraction. It's not this squinting, glaring reflection I think some conclude from the internet drama. My temptation is some adhesive material, only on the bezel, darkening its reflection to something between the tray and dash.

The ambient light was an upside surprise. The light source is mostly hidden, classy, sort of coves down from the way it is recessed in the door card. In my view, the term has been misappropriated as other OEMs (Merc/Tesla) have become too thematic/noisy.

I haven't posted much, because I'm in the first ~3k miles as a new owner and sort of taking it all in, for now :)

Congrats! A little off topic, but do you have any more pics you can share? I've been having trouble finding any pics of the white/stealth with the mid-sized wheels.
