I hate to break it to you, but there are much, much easier ways to break into a garage than stealing the clicker from a vehicle. 5 seconds and a coat hanger.

MyQ is garbage and they charge a subscription now. I ditched them as others did once they started charging. They provide the same service you can get for free with HA/Ratgdo if you have a Chamberlin. Unfortunately I have a Genie and have to use Samsung SmartThings. Better than nothing and better than paying.

Yes they charge a subscription, but ‘garbage’, hardly. It always opens as I approach my garage and always closes as I leave. IOW it works as expected. I will somehow make it through life $179 poorer. ;)

Until you start coming home to an opened garage door because it opened the garage door again after you left. Then you realize that there’s other subscription free options that can accomplish the same thing.

Never once had that happen. I leave it closes. I come home it opens. No issues after several months of frequent use every day.
 
The question of it's a $xxx car and should have that standard is misleading because the biggest ticket options are often on the highest dollar cars like Porsche, BMW Mercedes. You can easily spec a Porsche from 100k to 200k, where as a Hyundai you may only have a few k of options.


I think from a broader perspective, there's always a questions as to which options I should get/pay for. Ideally everything is just standard, but unfortunately car companies just don't work that way. In the past I've avoided paying for things like "cold weather packages" because I live in the south. However, on the cold days I always wished I had purchased that option. I've come to realize that I never really regret the options I pay for and don't use, but I often regret the options I don't get (although the current state of the gravity HUD is making me rethink that philosophy 😂). Doesn't mean I get every option, but generally if there are no tradeoffs (ie big wheels vs better efficiency) I tend to lean toward getting the option.

It *is* garbage. The ones built into the garage openers work fine enough, even if they’re proprietary.

The ones sold as attachments for existing garage openers that use the reflector and light for communication are garbage.

Something like a ratgdo actually hooks into the garage motor and works well.

Here’s one simple example: if you don’t have connectivity (bad service, no wifi, internet’s out) your MyQ isn’t going to do jack.

Your ratgdo, which works locally, would be completely unbothered.

Add that to the company being actively hostile to consumers, and it’s garbage. :)

Yup, built into the opener. If I needed the extra module I wouldn’t have bothered.

Whatever. In the unlikely event my WiFi went out, horrors of horrors I’d either have to get out of the car and go to the keypad or even worse, go into the house and open it from inside the garage. I’m not sure either is a survivable scenario. If it happens I’ll let you know.🤣

When it’s built-in it works better. I was referring to the off the shelf attachment which is, as mentioned before: garbage. :p

When it works, it works poorly. And it often just doesn’t work.

I’m glad yours works well. :)

What? I have cars with Homelink for 20 years. It has been available since 1995. My Lucid Air Touring has it and it works fine. The mystery is why the Gravity doesn't have it.

The post you were referring to was sarcasm (at least, that’s the way I read it). Homelink is standard for the Gravity Grand Touring but optional on the Touring.

I’d much rather they monitor the service centers than this forum.

(But also, plenty or Lucid employees do follow this forum and report things up the chain, etc. @marqie is the rep, but not the sole person here from Lucid. Just one of the only ones wearing a badge)
 
I once asked what we would talk about in the forums after software robustness improved. Now we know 🤣.
