Share Your Feedback - Enhanced Rear Cabin Comfort

@marqie this is a great update! Never had key fob issues so I cannot really speak to that. The rear AC activation for the 3rd row is so welcome!! Zoey says thank you, it works perfectly!

I’m sure my niece and nephew will also appreciate it when we take them to Disneyland tomorrow. 😂

Appreciate the continued effort to improve and refine these vehicles.
I love the picture of Zoey! That’s my cat’s name, though I don’t she would enjoy a ride in the Gravity. Thank you for sharing!

[…] The 3rd row being turned on whenever the 2nd row is on seems as if the Lucid engineers gave up on having an independent setting for the 3rd row. […] Hopefully in a future update they’ll implement a real proper fix to this issue, but for now the bandaid fix will work. M
This is probably a design choice. Personally, I don’t want three independent settings, one for each row, and have to think about which row I want on/off. As is, when I go back to solo driving after carrying passengers, I must now disable rear climate, and I’d rather not have to turn off multiple rows. I prefer the simplicity of front/back logic.

I did a mini all-day road trip yesterday with my dogs in the rear, with the 3rd row seats folded down. The enhancement worked great! Previously, I would sometimes forget to turn on rear cabin and my dogs would start to pant, which was my cue to remember to turn on rear cabin.

There was not a single panting incident on my outing. The rear climate remained on the entire day across new drives. Also, the 3rd row vents tied to rear climate, even with the 3rd row down, is very welcome, giving direct airflow to my dogs.

Thanks to the Lucid team for this great enhancement!

Gravity Owners,

UX 3.6.3 is currently rolling out and includes several enhancements designed to improve rear cabin comfort and convenience:
  • Rear climate now activates more consistently when a passenger is detected or a seatbelt is buckled in the second or third row.
  • On equipped vehicles, enabling rear climate will always activate airflow to the third row.
  • The rear climate power state (On/Off) is now remembered across drives, helping ensure passenger comfort from the moment they enter the vehicle.
Once you've had an opportunity to install and experience UX 3.6.3, we'd love to hear your feedback:
  • Has the updated rear climate behavior improved your experience?
  • Does the system perform as you expect in real-world use?
  • Are there scenarios where you would expect different behavior?
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us!
As someone who has been waiting on the sidelines before jumping in on a Gravity, it's so nice to see this level of consumer engagement!! Keep it up!

My suggestion to the 3rd row setting is because there is not a need to have the 3rd row on if the seatbelt settings are working like they do for the 2nd row. And for those with dogs that take up the 2nd and 3rd row, the option is still there to be able to have the 3rd row on. But for those of us that only use the 3rd row occasionally for kids, it’s a waste of resources to have the 3rd row on when it’s not necessary.

I also do wish that Lucid will give owners the ability to control whether the hvac turns on to prevent the car from overheating while parked like in Teslas. For owners that do not wish to have this function on, they can keep it off. But for owners that may have switched from Tesla or still have a Tesla, this feature is a big loss. Lucid really needs to start giving owners more capability over their vehicles. Limiting these types of features is not going to win anybody over.

wait...can't you just turn Climate on in the app to keep the cabin temp cooler?
And FWIW when the cabin does get up to 90*+ I want as many vents/rows circulating cooler air in there as possible to lower the temp faster, occupied or not!
It's all one airspace.

can we expect improvements to the window functionality? I have had 7-8 service appointments for my failed windows. They either get stuck down/up or the car thinks they are open when they are closed.

I had several days in freezing temps with windows stuck down and cardboard covering my windows.

hmmm...time to try a different SC??
My windows don't behave in this manner

Why have to monitor it when we should be able to simply turn on a setting for overheat protection and set the temp to 90, 95, etc…when the car hits that internal temp, the hvac turns on and cools down the car for a few minutes.

The existing options to maintain a set temp while the car is not occupied is not ideal.

90-95 cabin temp? Man my car would be cooling itself non-stop from April to November!

I guess I don't consider turning Climate on in the app and setting whatever your desired temp as "monitor(ing)" anything.
If the cabin temp is above the setting its goes on until that temp is reached...if it goes above again it turns on again by itself

It may not be exactly the same as your beloved Tesla but with a Lucid you most likely won't be dealing with this either:

I’ve noticed the last three times I got in the car, the rear climate turns on even though it was set to off before I got out of the car and no one is back there.
Would you mind DMing me your VIN along with timestamps for the incidents? I will ask the team to look into this.

I wonder what the efficiency loss is from conditioning the entire cabin versus just the 1st row, or just the 1st and 2nd. Obviously if you only run the 1st row HVAC, the temperature gradient back to the third row results in there being a different temperature there. But over long periods of time, the HVAC system needs to fight the thermal input or loss across the entire envelope of the cabin. If the back of the Gravity isn't being conditioned and is thus closer to the exterior temperature, I get that the thermal transfer rate will be somewhat lower. But I wouldn't have thought that you'd really save that many kWh over a long drive from conditioning just the first row instead of the whole cabin. On my current vehicle, the only real benefit that I can see from having HVAC on only in the front is that you devote the entire output of the HVAC system to just the first row, and so the people sitting there feel a faster change when they first get into the vehicle when it's way to hot or cold. But beyond a more rapid initial temperature change, I don't see a benefit. On a very hot day, it's sometimes nice to crank up the HVAC in the rear, just to keep the temperature down without blowing so much cold air directly on me.

The enhanced Rear Cabin functionality of this new update seems to be working as intended.

However, i still find the HVAC logic to be....poor.

On a hot day putting it on 69-71 AUTO seems to make very loud fan noise from the front dash area with very slow improvement in cabin temperature. If i instead just click 'up' on fan speed to 5-6 (taking it out of auto mode), the front dash fans seem to turn off entirely, overall HVAC noise reduces by like 80%, and then I am actually able feel a more satisfying amount of cold air coming out from the front facing vents. Why is it seeming to prioritizing dash vents when it's not in defrost mode? They shouldn't even be turning on at all when the goal is to cool down the cabin. My impression of AUTO is that it remains noisy and ineffective.

As an related tangent/rant - the only thing that truly bothers me about the gravity is the HVAC / vent positions. As a tall driver with seat all the way down it's effectively impossible for me to feel cold air on my face from the left or right sided driver vents - trust me I've tried adjusting the vent 1mm at a time in every possible iteration. The dash overhang blocks it from going up high enough to reach my face. Even left right adjustments are fussy and I can never really get the vents positioned well. The right-sided driver vent is also problematic because half of the cold air deflects off the back lower screen and blasts either my right hand or my right knee with frigid air while my face is warm with radiant heat from above (despite having the shade installed). Once the cabin temp is reduced I'm comfortable but it's overall pretty unsatisfying experience on warm days. Yes - i do pre-condition as much as possible but when the cabin is 110 degrees I'm still typically at the car while it's still cooling.

I also find it a really poor and cheap decision to use just one big noisy fan and use dampers to "turn on" the rear climate. That's very annoying, because to cool the back of the car, the front occupants have to deal with excessive noise.

A lot of luxury cars have separate fans for different zones, instead of only using dampers.

The rear HVAC logic is all over the place. Previous to 3.6.3 the rear HVAC would never turn on automatically with my son in his booster seat. At least I knew I’d always have to turn it on if needed. Now it sometimes senses him and sometimes doesn’t. Based on that, the rear HVAC turns itself on and off while driving. He doesn’t always want the rear HVAC on so I turn it off. Now it decides to periodically turn itself back on even after manually turning it off while on the same drive. The HVAC fan is also ridiculously loud anytime the rear HVAC is on. I know it’s one fan so it needs to be on a higher speed to send more air, which in itself is a cheap decision. Really, one fan for the entire Gravity’s HVAC system? But it seems louder using rear HVAC with 3.6.3 then with 3.6.0.
