Anyone else encounter a strange tear in seat upholstery?

Picked up my Luci AT 2024 on 3/26/2026. Today found same type of slit. Drivers flank cushion. 19k on it.
It seems like it's now well established that the seat just isn’t sufficiently durable at that location. Hopefully that means that service will accept that it's a repair covered under warranty without any argument. Let us know.

That was the case for me. No issue from Lucid.

Check your pants, a button or zipper will tear a hole in the purlux when you slide in, the seat material was defective. Leather would never do this. They repaired the seat for me under warranty.
I had a question for them though, what happens if it's on the passenger side too? They didn't answer that one.

I don't wear pants with zippers or buttons. I'll report back when the reach out since a service request was submitted.

My question is, given that I've already had my seat replaced once, within 11k miles and less then a year , what happens when it tears again, which it already started doing by the time I got 17k miles?

How many driver's seats are they willing to provide during my 39mo lease?

They now have replaceable seat covers... When my first seat split on bolster occurred about 2 years ago they replaced the entire seat at the service center. When I got a tear in the bottom seat cover earlier this year they replaced the seat cover during a mobile service.. They are now better prepared.

It could be a jacket with a zipper or button too, usually something sticking out like keys, either way it doesn't matter, it shouldn't be crapping out on a luxury car like that. Best wishes with the warranty.

Lucid calls me tomorrow with my options for repair.

Lucid warranty approved the replacement. Whatever part that's being replaced is on back order. Not 100% if it's just the back or what, but regardless it's being fixed.

My passenger side has deteriorated a bit on my GT. I had reported it years ago and they refused to acknowledge that as a defect. Their service levels have been declining every year and with this latest round of layoffs and perhaps impending Bankruptcy they may be even less inclined to perform such repairs.

Their upper management pool seems to deteriorate every time they make a change.

Do Auto manufacturers just not have a good management pool to pick from any more?

After 2.5 years, my PureLux is starting to tear in what I view as the oddest of places... Right about where my right shoulder blade rests while driving the car. It's in the perforated material right above where the seat back transitions from solid to perforated. It's not an area where I apply any pressure when getting into or out of the car.

Does anyone know if Customer Service can perform repairs on the material, or do they only do replacements? I hate to see it slowly spreading, but dare not try to fix it myself.

If it looks like odd tear or deterioration Lucid ervice should replace it under warranty.... They have oem style seat covers and can disassemble seat in field to replace the cover.

To set the record straight, the impending bankruptcy was a false rumor, bordering on libel, written by a person who has a history of posting false information. It was picked up by the news outlets without any fact checking because it served as good click bait. Apparently, our own moderators do a better job at fact checking than the “professional journalists” (boy, do I miss the days of journalistic integrity), as the false information has been so egregious that the site has been banned from this forum for a while.

The rumor has been flatly denied by Silvio Napoli, the new CEO, with an SEC filing, and the publisher has been served with a cease and desist letter.

In addition, the new CEO has entirely overhauled the executive team. While we can be thankful to the previous leadership for producing remarkable vehicles, they also bear the burden of the missteps steps along the way and the current state of affairs. This has nothing to do with the incoming leadership, though, and I’d suggest giving them a chance before passing judgment on their abilities.

Well, a date is scheduled for them to come out. Appears the cover to be replaced is hard to get due to production use, but it arrived from back order, Scheduled a month out to have them come to replace the cover. Np, I've since sewed the tears up to prevent more ripping. However, it appears they want to charge me $126 for the cover, even though they stated it was excepted under warranty...umm. My suture job below.

Status update.
The charge was in error and since been corrected. Thank you Lucid.

I'm impressed with your sewing ability. Nice straight sutures.

Like so many others, I developed a couple of tears in the drivers seat. I jut got it repaired with no questions asked. In fact, they discovered that a knocking sound I told them about was in the seat mechanism, so they ended up replacing the entire seat. The experience was seamless - pun inteded.

I asked the service advisor if they had improved the material and he said yes. I hope that's true.

So I had a tear in the same location as the OP months ago that was repaired under warranty. Today as I got in my car I noticed a massive rip in the upper drivers side back rest. It’s a strange position to rip because there’s definitely no zippers or buttons catching there. I set up a service which I expect to be covered. Pics attached. 2025 Air.

No way did they stitch it together like that

I think it’s just a fundamentally flawed design and manufacturing process. I mean I work out but my back muscles aren’t that strong. 😂
