Car locked with child inside and would not unlock

(Android) I've made it so that double-tapping the power button on my app strictly opens the Lucid app to make the process faster. It sucks that I have to do this but it's a working solution for an unreliable entry. I also have auto-unlock disabled in the car..

Not for me. iOS. Just staring at the app, next to the car, pushing all the handles, nothing happening.

Don't you need something in order for pursuing the door handle in to unlock the car? Like, don't you also need a fob, phone, or card for the car to authenticate you?

The door lag has always been the most annoying issue for me. My policy is to always leave a door or the trunk agar until I am done with the tasks at hand. I will load into the trunk, leave it open and climb into the driver seat and close from there. I have had people yell ‘you left your trunk open’ more than once. If I had a kid in the car, I would make sure they are out before closing the driver door. PIA but an adaptation.

Be advised, after a period of time, the car will lock with the trunk open. The amount of time is like 10-15 minutes, but it will lock (with the trunk open)

And, in this scenario, won't close electronically and must be closed manually.

It presumably can, but I was told it’s intentional and not a bug. I don’t get it, but it’s been that way since day 1. They changed it for Gravity.
 
Early on I gave up and just use the fob. It’s so compact I hardly notice it except when I wear a Speedo or Singlet…just change the battery every other month with a non-coated battery. Oh and the drivers door handle push usually doesn’t work but the driver side passenger does. Why? because it’s a Lucid.

Given all my experiences from trying to buy a car three times, to giving up and buying out my lease-4 months & countless hours and counting to get a bill of sale that shows itemized accurate sales tax-current sate of service or lack thereof though I did finally get a return call after a month of leaving at least a dozen messages with all that I could I’m convinced the company motto is We’re not happy until you’re unhappy. ;)

But yesterday honestly was the worst for me.

I was driving home with my 1.5-year-old in the back seat. He had finally fallen asleep listening to his favorite lullaby through CarPlay. Right before we got home, CarPlay randomly disconnected out of nowhere and stopped playing. Would not connect back at all. He’s a super light sleeper, so he immediately woke up crying.

I pulled into the driveway, opened the driver door, and walked around to get him out of his car seat.

And the car locked itself.

Wouldn’t open. Wouldn’t respond. Just completely locked with my baby inside crying.

I can’t even explain the panic of standing outside your own car, trying everything, while your kid is locked inside screaming.

Eventually it opened, but that moment completely broke my trust in this car.

I can deal with little tech annoyances. I can deal with bugs here and there. But basic reliability and safety issues like this? On a car that’s been out for years? Unacceptable.

I wanted this car to succeed so badly because when it works, it’s incredible. But after yesterday, I honestly don’t know how I’m supposed to trust it anymore. This company has lost sight of basic things in the push to just sell more cars

Done with this car but still hoping they somehow make it through

This happened to me again today when I got out of my driver’s seat closed the door and walked around to the right rear door where my almost 5 year old was. Doors locked up and I had the standard 5-10 seconds of waiting for it to reopen. It is definitely unnerving especially because the AC shuts off and it’s hot down here, especially now. I’ve just learned to expect and live with it and if I know I’m going back to the front door I’ll leave it cracked open (although anyone else have the situation where you leave the door barely cracked open and it locks with the door not completely flush…in other words it thinks it’s properly locked? Happens to me frequently).

In any event, the kid locked in thing does weird me out and should be extra impetus for Lucid to address the whole lock unlock thing in general.

So far 6 bottles of SQN Poker Face and Into the Dark-amongst 10 people- certainly has influenced my mood though IMHO i think I still look good in a Speedo. My wife would disagree.

My favorite part about this thread has been the people who write "I've never had issues with locking/unlocking" and then proceed to describe the issues they've encountered with locking/unlocking.

This is easily the most frustrating thing about the car for me. I don't regret my choice to go with the Air but I wouldn't make it again.

You can find nice Speedos at thrift stores, if you don’t mind them a little used. No warranty, though.

Niiiice.... Going to take a minute to get THAT picture out of my head...

Like Gravity, they hug the curves and are expert in packaging. offering straight-line performance down back roads as well...

Yep...I've devised a strategy to keep from looking like an idiot who can't unlock their own car. If I walk up to my car and if it doesn't unlock, I pull my phone out and then unlock the phone. If the car still doesn't respond, I open the Lucid app, knowing full well it will be 30 seconds before it connects. Then I pretend that I just got an interesting text message that I have to read for 5-10 seconds and voila! - the car unlocks.

If you have the cajones, you can leave your phone in your car while your attend your child which should prevent the car from locking. Its never locked on me ... yet. Just have to remember to retrieve your phone, which I have forgotten more than once.😂😂😂
