Ever since I was once locked out for like 5 minutes from my car in a parking structure, I now carry all 3. However, the car remains flaky and unpredictable. I never got locked out anymore, but approaching the car gives me random responses at best.
Sometimes it presents the door handles while I’m still 20 feet away walking towards the car. Most often, it does nothing and I can’t even simply open the trunk to put groceries in, requiring me to dance around with bags in hand by the side of the car until the jiggling of my phone in my pocket (or is it the keys?) makes the doors unlock. Sometimes I need to dance and push the handles in multiple times before they unlock and present. It’s random and embarrassing, but does eventually work within 10-15 seconds or so. It’s just a very inconvenient “convenience” feature.
No other car brand we have ever owned has had a problem with doors or locks, which makes this simply puzzling and sad. Like my wife and I have noticed, Lucid does some amazing things, but it’s the very basics (locks, door seals, trim, HVAC controls, trunk/frunk opening, key fob batteries dying without faraday cages, etc.) that they just get wrong.
