Finally figured out the source of these so thought I’d share.

1. Headlights. Electrical whir can be heard when headlights are on, it goes away when turning them off

2. Ambient lighting (lucid vibes). High pitch sound that gets louder the brighter you make the lights.

Both confirmed in a 2nd Gravity at the service center. Service says this is just the way it is and they can’t do anything about it ☹️

Super disappointing for a car that has a main selling point of a silent interior. I can’t even use the ambient lighting because the noise is so irritating.

(Adding insult to injury is the HUD is out of phase when I am looking at it straight on, it only sharpens if I tilt my head to the left, so I can’t use it either, and thus combined with the ambient lighting noise means paying for the tech package was a complete waste)

How old are you? Asking in earnest.

I cannot hear a thing, and I'm 38. Strongly considering if I need to visit an audiologist now lmao. :P

I'm not saying I don't believe you; I just genuinely have never heard. what you're talking about and I wonder what the frequency is.

I guess for the first time in my long life, I am happy to have tinnitus!

Although I really do have tinnitus, I am highly sensitive to high pitched sounds and I have thankfully never heard the sounds you describe. LED power sources can hum, however, so I don't doubt it could be. Just glad I don't have the problem!

Speaking as someone who has recently developed tinnitus (from covid!), I can say that with some confidence that it doesn't consistently prevent a person from being annoyed by high pitched noises. I've long been a person who has been annoyed by the high pitched whine of electronics, and I've noticed that sensitivity to it doesn't seem that age dependent. Even in my 20's I had lots of friends who never heard the sounds, and I still hear them now that I'm an old fart.
 
Put your ears directly on the window switches. In both Air and Gravity they make a high pitched whine when their little lights are on, which coincides with headlights being on.
 
My ambient lighting is on the brightest setting, and I don't hear anything. "Just the way it is" doesn't sound right if it's not a problem in all other Gravities. Unless you have incredible hearing

Personally I’m quite sensitive to high frequencies where most people simply wouldn’t notice the noise.

I’m 39 and the high pitch whine is really annoying and very obvious at night when headlights and accessory lights turn on. A lot of it comes from the window switches and felt tape can be applied under the switch to plug the gap to help dampen. It helps a lot but I still hear it.

I'm 63 and high pitched noises, incl seatbelt chimes, 60cycle humming, ultrasonic cleaners (apparently not so ultrasonic!), squeaky door hinges, the yelp of puppy dogs getting stepped on, ICE car belt squeaking, UPS back up power supply getting low buzzers, certain musical keyboard frequencies, and dental drills are not on my list of favorites. Hopefully I've been on the planet too long to hear the headlights or window switches in this car and don't have the dreaded 2nd row seat squeaks either!

BTW I also had the Moderna series with all the boosters but didn't have any changes from that; these noises have always been caustic to my ears.

i'm 49 and the high-pitched ring is so loud that I can barely stand it. I may have to return the vehicle if it can't be fixed.

If the bulk of it really is coming from the window switches, i may dig in there myself and just cut those wires. It's seriously that bad.
 
Don’t cut! The trim can be carefully pried off (you can get car trim removal kits on Amazon) then you can unplug. Or have service do it. Note you won’t be able to operate the window as there is no separate wire for the light. Felt tape as described earlier in this thread also made a solid difference for me.

Well, thanks to this thread, I investigated more. It seems turning off Lucid Vibes makes the ear-piercing high pitched noise stop. That's a bit of a bummer, since I really like the dynamic lighting, but at least I know the cause. I was afraid it was the drive unit or the battery or something. Nope, just some LEDs. :/
 
Is everyone talking above the general EV sound you hear like this -
Or something totally different?

You and I are the exact same with all of this - and I had the Pfizer vaccine for the other guys who blame Moderna. 😜

No, this was specifically high pitched noises emanating from various components in the interior of the car. The Air dash screens made noises which they fixed some time back in a software update. More recently I was specifically annoyed by the noise from the what I assume are the LEDs in the window switches. Have heard it on both Air and Gravity (and demonstrated to Zak Edson of Lucid at an owner event). In the Air, as of software 2.9.0, it sounds to me like they've fixed it! There are still other high pitched electrical whines but they are less bothersome to me.

Could you say more on how you went about getting in there and taping this? The high pitched noise coming from the window buttons is giving both my wife and myself migraines…
