Had Tesla Model 3...
Not sure if anyone else is out there thinking they'll car camp with this luxury vehicle, but I fully intend to. ;-)

I'm really disappointed that they aren't shipping with a Camp mode as I've seen it in several of their videos and it's a demo on their show room displays. I've just recently heard that it's a WAYS off until they deliver it now...

Have any owners played around with the "Always on" electric or something similar for Pets or sleeping in the car? Even without a full camp mode, would it be possible to sleep in the car with HVAC on all night and no lights on in/around the car?

I hope someone can give some info on this and make me feel like I won't burn through 50% of my lease before I can use the car as I'd like to. ;-) Thanks!

From? I have not heard this.

Creature comfort mode works fine for this; it lasts until the battery hits 2%. You just have to pretend you’re not in the car (your “creature” is), by opening and closing the door.

I haven’t actually tried this, but it *should* work. You may have to turn off passive unlock so your fob/phone don’t unlock the car, but as long as you don’t open a door and hit the “turn off mode” button, creature comfort mode won’t turn off.

Taking delivery today and will be camping for 2 nights in it so good to know. Any mattress recommendations?

I have an Exped Megamat (tons of people love Expeds) which has both foam and you pump it up. Very comfortable, but there are a ton of brands selling this style now. Just don't go "all air" as the ones with foam are much better and less bouncy.

Please update us after your trip. I am a bit nervous that the Gravity is ready for this, but hopeful.

I second the Exped recommendation. It's the most comfortable camping bed I've found. You can alter the firmness to suit you (by pumping more air) and the foam also prevents cold ground from sucking the heat out of you (not really a problem if sleeping inside the car).

This makes sense, but I would be curious if the screen stays on the whole time (it does so in my Air - to notify others that the "creature" is comfortable in the car with the A/C on)

That's a good point. I'm guessing we won't get a "all screens off" mode until we get the Camp Mode. However, this won't bother me personally much as I plan to do a privacy curtain to separate front seats from back. (I'm lazy...don't want to reflectix front 3 windows. lol) The great thing about the Gravity is the roof bow (?-not sure what you call the horizontal pillar/headliner) comes across right at the seats in a perfect place for a curtain and hopefully allows easy connections with snaps into the headliner OR velcro.

Sleep on one side, leave one seat up with the awesome tray table out as a perfect powered night stand. Ha ha...will be fun to do all this. Now all I need is a...;-)

Not being helpful here, but a 12" Zinus king mattress fits... but only when you vacuum pack it. It's great in a tent right next to the Gravity, though...

Also, from a previous thread -- I did confirm last trip that you can stack 27 gal yellow-top bins side by side and two high.

Hm, yeah, that’s true. But it’s a black screen with a bit of white graphics/text… shouldn’t be too bothersome? I agree that’s different from camp mode though; good point.

Or that is a very tall dead body....

Which version do you have. So many choices!

I certainly hope they’re not working on camp mode, to be honest. There are a bunch of other software bugs they need to get to first. I, too, would like to camp, but I’d like my fob and suspension to work first!

Can't answer that, mine is currently in storage. As it was for car camping, I went for the largest and thickest single person mat they sold ~10 years ago, and bought two to make a double bed. Two worked great, as my wife likes a firmer mattress than I do, so we could inflate them different amounts.

I'm also really anticipating Camp Mode, but I am fearful it could be one of those things that's a long way off while they work through bugs and launch issues. That said, it really should be a simple thing to at least get up and running at a minimum viable level? Keep power outlets and USB ports on, turn off all cabin lights, keep AC on? That's pretty much it, right? Maybe a trick to the locks so that it's openable from the inside but not the outside, and you could get fancy with being able to turn the screens on for a minute or two to make adjustments to certain features, but this should be a feature toggling exercise mostly?

I have an Xped Megamat LW+ Duo and it's amazing in a pickup truck bed; I can't believe you can't feel the corrugated lining of the truck bed underneath it, at all, when sleeping. I am hoping to use it in my Gravity soon. The LW+ is 52" wide though, and the space between the wheel wells is 50" (I think) in a Gravity, so I will be slightly pinched in the middle of the mattress. I wonder what this will do when I want to sleep 2 inside. I think it should pinch in with minimal issue, but we'll see. It would be better to have one of those truck-bed-shaped ones in the long run.....

I wouldn't expect it any time soon...too many other fires they are putting out. Hopefully in Spring...fingers crossed.
