Quick summary: On road trip and I stopped at an EVGO charger I had previously used with no issues. This was on the return leg of the trip. Used an EA station on the way out.

I pulled into the EVGO station, pulled up the app and plugged into my AT. It immediately came up with an error on my phone and told me to unplug, wait 10 seconds, then plug in again. After a few tries, the car displayed an error that the charge port door had an obstruction (There wasn't one). Then the charging station itself showed the "Step 1/3, 2/3, 3/3", then "Beginning to charge", then said "communication error with vehicle". I switched to the exact cable I had used on my last trip and got the same thing. Moved to a different station, got the exact same thing. Either the error message on my phone or the process would initiate, then give a communication error. There were two other cars there (one was a LUCID!) and they were charging fine. I had to back track a few miles to an EA station and as soon as I plugged in, everything worked perfectly, car charged and I made it home.

Has anyone had this issue before? Do we think it's an EA problem or a Lucid problem? Both? I want to give feedback to the right company so this can happen less to other people.

Thanks in advance!

Send the date/time to Lucid, perhaps, so they can pull data and dig into the charging error? I would've placed a call to EVGo at the time if they had a service number, although I imagine their CSR's don't get much more debugging info and can only perform station resets.

I had a similar problem last night with EVGO in Napa, CA. Had to get towed there because I had zero charge after my car failed to upgrade. The first charger showed that it was charging, but after 30 min. my car hadn't added a mile to the zero. I called EVGO they reset the machine, and I repeated. Ditto. Called EVGO, they said change machines. I got two strangers to help me push my car to a fast charger (150 amps) it told me my car was 3/4 full but after 20 min. it had not added a mile. I had to lock and leave the car there. It is not accepting charges. Don't know how to reach Service on a Sunday? Any ideas.

It was a mistake to interpret the 'zero charge' message as being accurate. As such, towing your car TO a charger and attempting to fast charge it was not the right course of action. Keep in mind, the fix for this situation has been Lucid to push a different update to your car...not to actually charge the car.

If you wanted to test the charging theory, that could've been done by plugging into a regular 110v outlet and letting it charge overnight.

The solution is to have Lucid issue the corrected update for your car. That appears to be the pattern for the numerous instances where people have seen that behavior.

it really sucks when you are stuck and can't charge, I hope things got better for you.

fwiw; I have found the EVGO units to be very unreliable and will choose other charging options if available, I know that this after the fact post isn't a help to you but it may be helpful to others.
I always check plugshare for reviews of a charger that I might use during an extended road trip
