I am just wondering if anybody has an idea if the AC decreases motor power similar to in an ICE vehicle. For example, in racecars (and other instances when full engine power is wanted) the driver will turn off the AC because it redirects power that would otherwise have gone to the wheels. Is the Air the same or is the AC on an entirely different system and therefore does not effect the power going to the wheels?

To first order, AC use will not impact power to the front and rear drive motors. The AC system is run from a medium power inverter that has a separate battery draw from the drive unit inverters. In addition, same AC system is used to cool the drive unit motors and inverters. However, at some point if the AC system is maxed out and the drive units/inverters are getting too hot, the car will reduce power to maintain thermal control of the drive units and inverters.

Thanks for the info! And genuine question: how do you know that stuff?

The only time this might happen is if you get down to <1% SOC and you run out of battery voltage (which reduces discharge rate to both systems), but the car will light up with warnings. But really SOC is the thing that affects motor power output the most. Dirty secret of EVs, they tell you to run <80% to maintain good battery health long term, but that means you sort of don't get full beans. Although most EVs have plenty of power in reserve you would only notice with a stopwatch.
