Hey, I noticed my new Air gt (1k miles) rear tire well has a rubber liner hanging and touching the wheel. Is this dangerous to drive on the highway to Lucid shop (1 hr drive)? Or this generic piece that any local auto shop can fix? I drive fast but very odd this happened to a new car. only drive on smooth roads.

Not an expert, but it's a snap on piece that clips and seals the inner wheel well liner to the fender. Must be thetevfor a tight seal for aerodynamics. Ice cars usually just some cheap plastic rivets. Which always fall out.

I would guess any body shop can push it back on. Or you can see if you can pull the entire strip off easily. Or use some tape at the bottom to the fender.

In my opinion, the proper fix for a shop would be remove it, inspect that the gripping surfaces on the trim were not bent or broken, thoroughly clean mounting all surfaces, and reinstall. Some retaining trim is only use once

Guessing the installer did not fully force the trim over the flanges of the liner and fender.

I would not drive far without some tape holding back the trim from the wheel.

I would call Service and see what they suggest: perhaps tape or remove the entire piece.

Thanks! I removed it and scheduled a mobile visit in a week to re-install. Safe to say it’s mostly a cosmetic piece and I can continue to drive normally?

Perfect. I agree. I was going to suggest simply pulling it off, but that would freak out some! From the time I spent inside the wheel well on the Lucid, the inner liner is not going to go anywhere.

Lucid uses the same crappy plastic rivets as everyone else. They pop out sometimes. Easy fix, and you can buy a bunch of them in bulk if you’d like.
