The Press Embargo Has Been Lifted

Honestly, they did kind of just flush through what I call the Tier 3 reviewers, all the clickbait ones with high-level reviews in short time frame. None of the professionals have done reviews that actually properly test cars or do technical deep dives, track tests et outside of OOS and State of Charge charge testing.

Some of Tuesday's reviews came from the likes of "Motor Trend", "Car & Driver", "The Autopian", and other serious reviewers.

The shallowness of the reviews was in some cases more a function of the time and situation limits of the venue than of the limits of the reviewers themselves.

These reviews are so subjective. Surprise, surprise.
Two totally different opinions on the third row seating for adults.
I didn't come away impressed (or with really any new information) from the R&D review.

Their biggest nit seemed to be the windshield and I don't recall anyone saying similar things about the Model X. Kind of felt like they were grasping for things to complain about (like clickbait / low-class "reviews").

I agree that nothing new was really shared in these videos but I think it was more Lucid hitting the reset button and getting some fresh momentum in the lead up to deliveries. The problem is that the hype has been going on for an extremely long time and was consistent right up until the end of December. Then from January to basically late March it was crickets from Lucid so all that hype that had kicked off from November 2023 to December 2024 just fizzled out so they need to start getting media attention again. For those who have been eagerly following though, these videos etc. really gave nothing new.

Personally, I'm at the point of "enough already" stop prolonging and just get the f'ing car delivered.

Yeah, we went looking for a number of alternatives as we're looking to "get out of" our Tesla Model X.

Lots of crossovers available and some "smallish" SUVs -- neither of which fit our needs. For lots of EVs that we looked at the tech and experience felt like a big step down.

I kind of lost track of Lucid for a few years, and Gravity seems like a better fit for us. Lucid's (vehicle and company) "vibe" feels a bit like Tesla did in the "golden age".

Me too.

I am thinking about this:

🔥
Man that is gonna look nice!

Just curious; I notice you ordered Aurora Green for the GGT.
Why not Abyss Black and save $1k if you're going to cover it?
One day you'll reveal your true color, Aurora Green!?

Not a criticism at all. Just curious.
I'm planning to do a partial clear PPF on the front area to protect from road debris.
I suppose with the absence of brighter colors for the Gravity, a PPF can make up for that.

That Demon Black looks pretty close to the Zenith Red for the Air.

I haven't changed my configuration formally but I am going to get black now. After seeing both in person, I was a little underwhelmed by the Green, and thought black looked pretty good, and would be better if I decided to wrap. I might also just get a clear PPF, or a matte. I am on a DE now though, so the money is the same 😭

Take a look at this video review from last week's event at the 11:55 mark where a second-row folding table jammed halfway down:

And another video from the event commented on the abnormally loud second row seat motors that were also reported from the New York event a couple of weeks back.

And the HUDs weren't working last week, either.

These cars aren't nailed down yet. Lucid should not let these issues get out to customers, if for no other reason than to keep from overloading the service shops and doubling customers' irritations.

Well if the problems are so bad then they need to announce a delay by X months and stop pretending that everything is ok.

If the Aurora Green was underwhelming, this Thunder Green may be overwhelming!

I really wanted the Fathom Blue Metallic for my Gravity, but I can live with Aurora Green.

Doing a quick search for PPF on the forum, I came across the post shown below.
Something for you and others doing full PPF to consider.

I'm not one to defend Lucid's marketing/communications strategy. But I lived through the teething pains of an early-production Air and watched in frustration as press and social media filled with complaints about the build quality of what I knew to be one of the best-designed, best-engineered, and most structurally sound cars on the planet.

Fortunately, service response in the early Air days when I was dealing with those teething pains was superb -- instant and determined. It's what finished the job of turning me into a diehard Lucid fan. But there have been recent signs of an overloaded service structure, and I don't want to deal with Gravity issues in that environment. I still remember the nosedive Tesla service took upon the introduction of the Model 3.

I'll gladly pay with a few more weeks of waiting to avoid either of those scenarios again.

But we’re not talking weeks are we? This car has been in production since beginning of December so it’s already 4+ months of delays.

Which review video shows the trailer hitch? I interested in seeing how it operates, but I haven't come across it in the reviews that I've watched so far.
None; I have one. I'll take a picture of it later today if I remember.

For what it's worth, I have opened and closed the tray tables at least a hundred times now (between showing them off and using them), and they are extremely sturdy. I have tried to make the hinges do anything but what they're supposed to, and short of intentional malice, they're not breaking.

That's good to hear.

But I can't help wondering why Lucid staged the event last week with vehicles that still had problems. One of the reviewers who showed a picture of a door panel at least 1/4" out of alignment with the adjoining panel said he asked a Lucid rep about it and was told that the factory hurried to get these cars ready for the event and didn't have time to do inspections.

Huh? Before turning cars over to the press? (There were, of course, the usual assurances that these problems would be ironed out before full production begins.)

This was a relatively small number of cars off a line that has been producing cars supposedly since December, although in very limited numbers. It certainly doesn't indicate a production line that is ready to start shipping cars to customers in any significant numbers.

And this is the problem…. What on earth have they been doing since December? Late March we were told cars are pretty much finished and ready to start going to Showrooms and none have shown up Bow these apparent “media” vehicles just got rushed off the line. Why did they feel the need to make cars specifically for a media event? Pick 10 cars destined for Showrooms, use for the event then send them onward to the Showroom.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The way they’re behaving looks like they’re hiding something and simply trying to buy themselves time.

Your questions are definitely valid.
I'd like answers to them as well.

Let's say they are hiding something.
Whatever it is, honestly I don't need to know what it is.
I don't even need to know that they are hiding something.
As long as they rectify it, I don't care.
Bottom line for me: I want them to take as much time as they need to provide the best ev, considering nothing is perfect and continuous improvement is part of the business.

I don't need a car now, but if I did, I'd establish my deadline and have my alternatives selected.
Once that deadline arrived, I'd make my decision; Lucid or my best alternative.
If I knew I wanted the Gravity (no best alternative exists), but it didn't meet my deadline, I'd find the cheapest lease (ev or ice) that meets my needs for 18 months and keep watching this forum.

As much as we want a Gravity like yesterday, if they release it with issues that the media jumps on, they will lose more customers than they may lose during a prolonged/delayed release.
I don't see this as a "damned if they do and damned if they don't" situation.
It's a "damned if they release it with issues that draw media attention and not damned if they don't".
They are not damned if they continue to delay the release. They are not damned if they lose customers during the delay.
Whatever customers leave, will not forget the Gravity.
If Gravity is released at it's full potential, word about it will spread like wildfire. People right now who have no idea that it even exists will hear others and what they need to hear is how good it is, not that it is out, but has quality issues.

The media may jump on the delay, but we all know, the media just like people in general, have short memories with stuff that is rectified.
They'll hear about it and then ask, "now what".
Any media hoopla related to a delayed release is much easier than overcoming the existence of quality issues; especially for a company branded as a high level/luxury car maker.

All just my opinion.
Obviously everyone sees it their way.
Do whatever you think you gotta do.

Now my opinion isn't necessarily the same as the Lucid board members and the PIF. 😀

I don't pay a single bill.

I looked at this video of the table a few times... I'm not sure if it actually malfunctioned... I think it was actually down as far as it could go with his right knee under the table. It looks like it's resting on his leg. 🤔

Oh you're totally right! His knee *is* under it! He moves it out of the way right after he stows the table. You're totally right that it is resting on his knee.

Fake news @hmp10! lol
