Seriously? Enough of this crap! Do you honestly believe Tesla is going to power limit certain brands making them stay at chargers LONGER and potentially jamming up the sites. They've got better things to be doing than "oh, a Lucid is on our network let's reduce it to 20kW". Give me a break! It will get 225kW on the Tesla network plain and simple!

The car comes with a NACS to CCS adaptor that will support 400kW on 1000v chargers so if you're so worried about Tesla then stick with the shitty EA network where you'll be getting a lot worse charging experience due to how atrociously unreliable that network is.

Wow! Seriously? That's how you interact with fellow owners?!? I got >300kW consistently during my road trip from Texas to Tennessee. And how do you know they'll be providing an adapter that can handle those speeds? I held the adapter they had at the studio in my hand, and it was a Leviton adapter, not Lucid-branded. The engineer couldn't even guarantee it could charge at the full 80A my CHCS provides due to possible heat, so there's that!

Because it's written in the press release and can be found on Lucid's website

"CCS1 to NACS and SAE J1772 to NACS adapters are also included with the Lucid Gravity, and the CCS1 adapter is the first rated to charge at 500A with 1000V. The adapter enables charging at up to 400 kW through the standard NACS connector in Gravity with a CCS1 connector at a fast charger."

This whole Tesla punishing Lucid argument that's prevalent in multiple threads of this forum needs to stop. Everyone was saying Tesla wouldn't give Lucid access to the network and now they've got access you decide to speculate that they're going to be punished by speed limiting the car. Seriously, let's take the conspiracy theories elsewhere.
 
I've experienced this myself on this site - but not everyone who comes on and asks a question you think has been answered before is a troll or a conspiracy theorist. The guy expressed a concern - you could educate him, or you could snap at him. You chose to snap. Was that necessary? Can you accept that he expressed something maybe in good faith and doesn't need a crappy tone directed at him?

This site can be so valuable but also gets very frustrating at times. I am fairly certain that it must put some people off the brand.

There was no question, it was a comment based on no evidence or fact. It was pure speculation. You may not like the tone and you're free to hit the ignore button on me but I took the effort to at least respond with a fact that could have easily been found on Lucid's website.

Could the tone had been a little different? Maybe, but this "Tesla hates Lucid and will punish them at every opportunity they get" narrative is based on nothing but mere speculation with not a single piece of evidence to back it up.

We don't need this thread turning into a tit for tat argument so we can agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Well, except for the fact that Musk went out of his way to lie publicly about Rawlinson's role at Tesla and posted regularly about how Lucid's business model was a disaster and how the company would soon be bankrupt.

I have a feeling the smooth sailing Lucid has had with the Tesla Supercharger team has something to do with Musk's current distractions elsewhere. After the way he treated that team some months ago, they must view every day he's not around as a better day than the last.

And then there's the fact that, with Tesla sales in a tailspin in much of the world, the profitability of the Supercharger operation is becoming more critical to Tesla.

Well, again, I was literally there, and the engineer who travels with the Gravity to all of the sites handed me the adapter. It was Leviton. I was simply stating a concern, and I quite "what gave me pause". They originally were planning on adding both ports. It proved to be impossible. I get it. The fact that there was a big Tesla protest around the corner from that Lucid gallery was also offputting!

I experienced >300 charging on EA on my road trip in July. CCS isn't just EA-based, BTW. NACS is solely owned and operated by Tesla. All eggs in one basket, you know?

This isn't really true. The name was changed to NACS as a part of releasing it as a public standard. It's managed by SAE just like J1772 now. EA, ChargePoint, and presumably all the rest in the US are going to be adding NACS plugs in the next few years. Doesn't really matter which way you go, for the next few years you're going to be carrying an adapter on road trips to use the other kind.

Thanks for posting this.

I noticed this seeming misalignment between the dashboard and (I assume) the glovebox lid. Is that just the angle of the view, or is there still some fine tuning to be done?

The standard is controlled by SAE International. Older Tesla cars are not compatible with NACS without a retrofit. Only 2021 and newer Teslas are compatible. If they "owned" the standard, it's unlikely those issues would be present.

Tesla has a big incentive to standardize NACS in that it gets them subsidies for building out more of their chargers, and they receive revenue from the cars from other manufacturers that use its charging stations. With most of the superchargers charging by kWh, they would only hurt themselves by deliberately reducing the charging speeds for any car. First, they wouldn't make any more money. Second, they would tie up a charger for longer while other cars (mostly their own customer's Teslas) may be waiting to give them money. And finally, the owners would soon learn that the chargers are slower and stop using them which would reduce their revenue stream.

Tesla may have some self-interest involved in what kind of car you would buy, but they have no self-interest in having obstacles to taking your money to charge you up.

There are some older superchargers that are not open to other vehicles, but that is mostly due to their original implementation not being compatible with NACS and they would need to replace the chargers to work with NACS. These will likely be replaced at some point because they are also slower chargers, but in the current climate building out more locations is more important than retrofits.

Thanks for sharing the video.

Obviously, not sure, but I think I saw the braking indicator light.
The green light to the upper right from the speedometer, to the left of the read seatbelt warning light that eventually went out.

It's hard to tell when the driver had his foot on the brake pedal, but I noticed when he came to a complete stop and just before accelerating, that green indicator light was shown.
If I recall correctly, there is a hold and a creep mode with the braking.
Looks like the car was in creep mode, so the brake pedal was pressed more often. Just my guess.

Best place to see this is at the traffic light after passing where @Jester1868 and Steph got married in 2011. 😂

Those are temporary adapters; rely on the press release and public announcements, as those are subject to material information laws. Lying in a public release would be a very, very bad idea. A salesperson saying something incorrect happens 44 times a minute, by my rough estimate. Those are not the adapters that will ship with the upcoming deliveries.

NACS is not solely owned and operated by Tesla. There are plenty of NACS cables across EVGo and EA, and others. They are adding more. NACS SAE J3400 is then standard, and it is “owned” by SAE, not Tesla.

From the press release: “To enable this experience for our customers, we developed new, unique technology to allow the 926V Lucid Gravity to charge seamlessly at up to 400 kW on 1000V charging equipment and at sustained speeds of up to 225 kW on 500V architecture fast chargers, including Tesla V3 Superchargers.” That’s a quote from SVP of Powertrain, Emad Dlala, the guy who literally runs the team that designed and built the system.

So you’re welcome to speculate and come up with reasons he’s lying, but I am certain you are wrong.

@HC_79’s tone may have been acerbic, but he wasn’t wrong. This speculation is FUD; it spreads fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), but without any evidence whatsoever for the anxiety. That’s not actually helpful to anyone, except to those who want to stir up non-existent drama.

I recognize that you may not have read the forums before, to @WeighingGravity’s point, so I don’t think the tone was necessarily warranted, but we’ve had a larger and larger number of folks recently who show up and say the same thing, and it does get a bit grating.

I hope it doesn’t put you off; I’m sure that wasn’t the intent. It’s very easy for text to come off without the nuance it may have been originally written with.

Hopefully we can all move forward and have a nice thread henceforth. :)

I didn't intend to contradict PRs and announcements. The more I think about it, I guess he was showing me what they were using to charge the Gravitys with their CHCS. It's a J1772 to NACS adapter. I just found it online: https://ev-lectron.com/products/lec...v-ac-compatible-with-sae-j1772-chargers-black

I can't seem to find 100a adapters, so home charging will be limited to ~60a if you have a CHCS.

Again, all I said is "what gave me pause" meaning a concern of mine. No FUD was intended. If I'm going to drop six figures on another vehicle, I want to be certain it'll fit my needs. I'm a verified owner of a LADE, not a troll trying to throw a wrench in LCID's gears!

The foul language/tone directed at me can ONLY be taken as acerbic, as you so eloquently put it. I should expect more from a "Supporting Member" of the forum, no?

There are 100amp adapters. The adapter you saw isn’t the final adapter, it’s just an off-the-shelf one they’re current using.

Even lectron’s is on presale: https://ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-ev-adapter-250v-80-amp (that’s 80A continuous, or a 100A circuit)

Tesla’s is also 80A:

Supporting member means they donate, which we appreciate because it keeps the servers up (I have literally never seen a dime from this). But it doesn’t mean they are saints, heh.

I like @HC_79, and I get where they were coming from; I would have put it differently, but the frustration exists for a reason. You just happened to have not been here to see those reasons heh

Anyway, hopefully everyone can bury the hatchet.
