  • Hello! I am working on my Gravity audio upgrade which also has two 12v batteries. I looked through your journey and I didnt see what I was looking for; is there a special process to disconnect one of the 12v batteries? Do you need to pull the High Voltage loop at all? Do you need to let the car fully power down before disconnecting the negative terminal? Was there any trouble or process starting the car back up?

They put the two 12v batteries in the front of the Gravity. I was hoping for one in the back to make running the main power easier.

For the Air, the batteries were wired in parallel so just tapping one of them was fine (the one in the trunk). That said I'm not sure how the gravity's low voltage bus is setup - if it's the same or something else. You should not have to touch high voltage at all though, everything low voltage should be behind the voltage converter for safety reasons.

That's too bad they are in the front though.

As far as pulling the negative terminal, I've done it myself without any special preparation, but given that the other battery was still looped in, I don't think the car ever powered down. That said take what I said with a grain of salt since I didn't do the install myself. (Are you looking to do it yourself?)

Ah thank you, I thought you did the installation. Yeah I'm tackling it myself. I've done a few installs but never on an EV. Thanks again!
