Insurance Megathread

Thank you all for helping on my insurance. I switched to travelers for now. When I used the vin of my son's Lucid GT the annual quote for lucid was 1780. Since I am waiting for fully loaded air pure, probably the insurance would be 1300. I will keep you posted when I add lucid and Fisker Ocean extreme between Feb and Aug 23.

I gave my insurer a call just now (Amica) and the agent could not quote - Lucid isn't in their system. They're forwarding my request to corporate for examination.

Many people suggested geico over progressive because of umbrella insurance. If I have a problem with travelers, I will try geico. In this case an insurance broker did the shopping around for me. With geico, I could get quote online for lucid but not for home and umbrella. That needs a phone call.

I have my insurance with Amica. Called them one day before delivery (early May) and they had the ID card ready the next day morning. Yes, there were a bunch of additional questions due to the price of the car and something about "approval" from manager (I don't exactly remember). Yes, they knew right away it was a Lucid.

I second Amica. Not the cheapest, but great customer service!

You can also get an umbrella policy separately from your other insurance, at a reasonable rate, from Chubb. They'll have some requirements about underlying insurance coverage from your main insurer, but nothing difficult or surprising.

I think the umbrella policy requires a certain minimum amount of liability coverage in your auto policy. Therefore things are much easier if both are with the same company.
Right. In my case, I wanted an umbrella larger than my home/auto/umbrella insurance company (Amica) would write. But I like Amica for their reputation and pricing. They suggested I call Chubb for an umbrella in excess of what Amica provides. The arrangement has worked well so far. The only additional work has been the need to call two companies rather than one when adding/removing a car.

I have my cars, home & umbrella with Grange & my agent advised today that they won't cover the Lucid due to it not being in their system yet. Trying Progressive but wish I could stay with the same insurer!

Having extensive research and various proposals bundled through Progressive online.

Interesting. My Genesis GV60 has been out for about the same time and GEICO insured it with no problem (even saved me a few bucks on a Performance car with 429 HP compared with my now traded in BMW 530e).

I am shopping for insurance for Lucid plus 2 other cars, home and umbrella insurance.
The quote I received using a VIN number of GT was 1780 per year with Travellers
250/500 Comprehensive $500 deductible Collision $1000 deductible Glass only $50 deductible.
The car I am waiting for is fully loaded Pure AWD. Once I get VIN I can get a quote but does this
seem reasonable compared to others?
I am paying $1442 per year with USAA.

Ended up at ~$1300 to insure through Progressive...which is 2X what I pay for my Tesla Model S which had a similar purchase price. I'm guessing this is due to the rest of our property being covered by Grange. Hopefully Grange will start covering Lucid's in 2023

I have Travelers currently with my home insurance too. I got a quote from Wawanesa and it's slightly better with two cars. I may go with them

I got the call yesterday with my VIN number for my GT. Made some calls for insurance quotes today and got nowhere. They never heard of Lucid! For those of you who already received delivery, where did you go for insurance?
state farm was great

I just got a quote the Costco website. Turned out to be from Midvale.
Has anyone had experience with this company?

Here's mine through Travelers:
Glass deductible is $50.

Travelers
$1400 per year - based on stated value. Once insurance companies figure out what car this is and it is in their system, they will raise the rates.
I have Travelers and no accidents. Over 40 and in Phoenix…$3,600/year. Guess they figured it out. 😓
