Unexpected test drive this weekend

BTW, I was told no freeway driving...seems strange given the car's characteristics...
Hm, I’ve never heard that. My test drive (and plenty of others) had absolutely no issues with Highway driving (and even encouraged it and going into Sprint mode). Maybe it’s a local thing?

bunnylebowski recommended to drive all 3 modes, and I strongly agree. I would add one-pedal driving, both normal and aggressive. Master the one-pedal, and you will NEVER have to change the brake pads.

Well, maybe things have changed- we got our test drive back in July, and it was almost entirely on the highway (with a colon-clenching sprint acceleration to merge...) Probably 10-15 miles.
Delivery of our AGT is scheduled for next week...

No idea...I might cancel father than just drive around the shopping center/neighborhood...

Right---I planned on strapping on Depends...now I dunno...

Great points...thx

That is very strange. I think they are pulling your leg. If anything, your rep will encourage you to drive it hard. Why? To try to upsell you on a GT or at least a dual motor Pure or Touring. My rep did tell me that Smooth on a GT approximates a Pure and the next step up approximates a Touring. In any mode, when you punch it, you'll feel the back cushion compress...

Yes, that’s exactly how shifting into neutral happens. Also, I also upgraded from a Mazda3 haha - absolutely loved that car but the one drawback was the immense road noise.
What year Mazda3 did you upgrade from? That's a big upgrade from 3 to Lucid haha. I did ask Mazda how much they would pay for my 2013 3 and got $8000 offer. I could probably get $9000 if I sold directly to someone. I'm just thinking though if I get at least the Pure, it'll be at least eight used Mazda 3's worth in one car. About 4x the brand new price. Significant jump.

I test drove the CX-5 last week. Was utterly disappointed in it. I probably just prefer driving closed to the ground. My turns feels more connected and responsive.

2012, haha. I sold it for $13,500 with 100k miles lol

I'd love to get anywhere near that for our 2010 Mazda 3, 160k+miles. Love the stick shift and handling, but the road noise on long trips just grates on me. The Air will be about a foot longer, tons more room, much more quiet.

What trim was it? Did you do other upgrades? I got the Si which is just 1 trim higher than base
Just the i GT. No other upgrades other than the technology pkg.

Road noise was my biggest (and only) complaint.

All the discussions about older cars have been fun to read.

I have an admission to make...In my 50+ years (not all of them driving years of course) I have never owned a new car. We currently have a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan with about 170k miles and a 2010 Toyota Prius with around 200k miles. The minivan has been great for Boy Scout trips (my son earned his Eagle a few years ago), for family road trips and moving kids in and out of college dorm rooms. Since we own a 120-year-old home on Capitol, the minivan has made many trips to Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
Owning a new car has not been a priority. If we can swing it (two kids in college still), getting a new Air Pure will be a big (and fun!) adjustment. Anyway, you can say that my wife and I will be "new" to owning a new car!

I'm not new to EVs as my mother-in-law has a 2018 Model 3, with about 58k miles. I love driving that car when she lets me! Speaking of her Model 3, I love having blind spot cameras. They are practical and a great safety feature. One example comes from having so many dedicated bike lanes around DC. When I have a make a right turn and cross a bike lane, the rear-facing camera makes it so much easier to see bike riders and pesky electric scooters. Her Model 3 has lane-centering and other features which I sometimes use on the highway, but my wife never does.

I'm sharing this about her Model 3 because I would love to get Dream Drive Pro, but the cost is prohibitive, especially when added on to an already expensive (for us) new car. I like the idea of DDP for a number of reasons, but I would really be satisfied just having blind spot cameras on the Pure.

I'm very excited to think about owning a Pure (sometime next year...??). I actually had the opportunity to test drive a GT a month ago. At first, I did not want to accept the invitation to drive a car so far above the Pure as it would spoil me. However, I could not resist the temptation and was really glad I got to drive a Lucid Air. I now have a better sense of the Air, and I did not need Depends when I floored it! I love watching videos about the Air and other EVs as well as reading many articles on battery tech, new EV models from other manufactures, etc. Driving an Air myself was a game changer!

Onward as Lucid says!

@CapHillDC

Glad to hear! Can finally splurge and treat yourself a new car! Interesting to hear about your Tesla experience. I've never really tried any cars with those features so I wasn't really considering Dream Drive Pro. I could just be like your wife and not use those features.. I don't even use cruise control lol. I really do at least want the 360 view which is currently available on the DDP only but I've heard from a few people that their agents (including mine) that we would have the option to purchase an upgraded camera kit for the 360 and blind spot camera too I assume. I have a bad feeling though that Lucid will charge $2000 for it.

I am very excited too! I'm doing a bit more research now on the DDP to see if it's something I could really benefit from. I plan to keep the car for 10+ years. I still like my Mazda 3 overall minus the road noise and don't mind keeping it longer if the Lucid opportunity didn't present itself. I did guess inflation will increase the prices and lithium price will keep increasing too.

Road noise was my biggest (and only) complaint.
I installed dynamat inside my doors and in my trunk to reduce noise, helped only a little bit though. My car seems louder after being a Lucid passenger

You and Steve are the 2 Pure reservations that I know of who have been able to get a test drive.
I'm also holding 2 reservations but no invite for me.
Perhaps this is related to when you guys reserved.
I'm in no rush to make a decision so waiting is ok. with me.
Just feel bad for Lucid in terms of how many people they may lose out on because people don't have the opportunity to appreciate the car.
Just email your SA and ask for a test drive of AGT. No need to wait for an invite

I called today and was able to get on their calendar.
All the weekends for the next 4 weeks have been booked, so I have to settle for a weekday.
Thanks.

You can definitely accidentally shift into neutral while driving. I did it going downhill on Skyline when it started misting and I instinctively pushed upward on the right lever because in all my previous cars that would make the wipers go once or twice. Suddenly had no power and after a brief panic realized I had shifted into neutral. Then I couldn't get it back into drive until I touched the brake and that let me shift back and all was well.
If you are old that was called "three on a tree".
