Kim Java - Preview Gravity?

I’m still amazed that in the review she’s getting 3.13 mi/kwH on a roadtrip. I’m lucky to even maintain 2.58 mi/kwH. The last time I took the car to service (sat with them for almost a month), they were supposed to do a range test to see if there was something wrong with my drive train, but of course in typical Lucid Service fashion, they ignored it and then after a month without the vehicle, I was fed up with waiting for it.

I didn't make notes, but a couple of things:
  1. Locked in. Can we assume her smallest is unable to open a car door by herself? I mean, pull the trigger like you always do. Even if a power failure you just pull harder to engage the mechanical release.
  2. Creature Comfort. Both NotchEV and EverydayChris posted camping videos using Creature Comfort mode. They reported battery losses on the order of 1% per hour.
  3. PaaK/Keyfob. Sorry to hear she has one that's a problem. Like others, our Gravity keyfob works reliably every time. Never comes out of my pocket. The cardkey and phone app also work for us. The phone app comes up in about 5 seconds wherever I've used it. It's dependent on connectivity for both the phone and car, so location matters.
  4. FSD. Seen as a major shortcoming, but honestly only one automaker offers it. Not exactly table stakes, at this point, especially if you don't want a Tesla for other reasons.

...So, this is overall a pretty positive outcome IMO, but the fact that she didn't keep it longer,...
They never said they were giving the car back. It's just that the "honeymoon" experience period is over for them - they've had enough time to fully assess the car's strengths and weaknesses.

Good point! I take back that statement. Cool

Mostly fair review and update but still….my god….i just want to scream and rage every time a Tesla owner complains about no FSD. I just have nothing but contempt for them now. It’s not a Tesla, you want FSD, get a Tesla, end of story. She said “we” want more automation. No, she does not speak for us all. “We” are good. Even if/when Lucid puts it in, vast majority of the time I won’t use it bc I actually enjoy driving. If I didn’t, I’d get a Tesla to do it for me. They are the only bunch that complain about it so often and it just boils my blood now 😤😤😤

Ok, I’m cool now. Good video, fair complaints even tho some, like the app connectivity issue I’ve never experienced, even when stuff was at its worst a year or so ago. Some features of the app may be wonky, but it loads and connects very quickly, and the doors open or car remote starts pretty instantly. Every time. It stinks that the consistency just isn’t there for Lucid as some I’m sure have had problems like they have. This is definitely a Licid problem that they need to keep pushing to resolve. PaaK needs to come asap too. Silly to keep taking these hits…

The thing I found weird was the inability to use the Lucid App. Has anyone heard of the Lucid App just spinning for several minutes?

I agree, the Tesla FSD is tiresome but it’s clearly something that will get a Tesla owner to move. I’ve spoken to many Tesla owners who complain about the quality of their cars but will stick to the brand purely because of FSD.

Like it or not, a Tesla owner is probably an easy convert for Lucid if they had L2++ on offer. The cars are generally a better build quality, go further, charge faster and drive better. If they got L2++ out ahead of others then I wouldn’t be surprised if they secured many of those Tesla owners fed up with the brand. Lucid’s slowness to deliver on this stuff though will just allow another brand to swoop in and scoop up those buyers though.

I've had it happen sometimes when connected to Wifi at home. Similar experience with my Air. It's otherwise very consistent.

I've had this happen at home recently while on wifi (Android phone - pixel 11 pro). If I terminate the app and restart it, it connects quickly.

Kim Java has just posted a 3-month review of their time with Gravity. I'd call it very fair, leaning positive. Pointing out issues but not overlooking the inherent values and advantages of the vehicle. PaaK...kid locked in car...Creature Comfort faux pas were the worst issues. They discussed them fairly in my opinion.

Kim Java 3-month review of Gravity
Much more balanced than the 10/10 being discussed on a different thread

1. And if your child is a one year old and buckled in a car seat?
3. A large portion of the target competition has PaaK, so this should be a priority. I am so tired of the “explainers” on this site stating “My key works all the time” as if implying those who have issues must be doing something wrong. Still having key fob issues a year and half after launch is an embarrassment, particularly when it is a review car driven by a very influential YouTuber.
4. Having an FSD type system will be a game changer for Lucid. If Lucid is able to release Cosmos with v14 FSD type system (or at least v13, with v14 on horizon), they will be serious competition for Model Y and keep in the hunt with Rivian R2. For those on this site that state “I bought my Lucid to drive because it is such a great driving car and don’t car about autonomy”, you are in the vast minority. People looking at buying an high tech EV are definitely looking for autonomy. Someone looking for a Ford F150, probably don’t care.

Having an FSD like system would be a game changer for every auto maker not named Tesla. If you look through the comments at least half of them are of the form "but it doesn't have FSD so Lucid sucks". So lots of Tesla Fanboys (and girls) commenting on the video (and one guy Kim actually tore a new one about her just being a shill for Lucid, way to go Kim)

3. Few, most, many, or some—including me—have been waiting as air owners for a dependable lock and unlock over the past five years, good luck for yours 😂

Did you mean a shill for Tesla?

2. I have had creature comfort drain the similarly once overnight, we were in Tillamook OR and the windows were frosted over with some gusty winds. I noticed the fans were basically full blast but not actually kicking out hot air before falling asleep. I think we had it set to 70F, almost seemed like the system was fighting itself.
Thankfully we were < 10 miles from a charger, but still unexpected.
My HA data looks stair stepped from it being compacted for long term storage, but can still see the fall off. I've slept in the back ~5ish times with it usually taking a few percent though.

No I meant a shill for Lucid (Kim Java that is). The commenter was commenting on Kim Java's video about Lucid and saying essentially she was being a shill for Lucid getting a free car to test and had to comment positively because of the free car. So Kim answered and tore him a new one.

Strong disagree with your assessment of what the majority of owners want regarding FSD. Even among Tesla owners a tiny percent of people actually have it. They are just extremely vocal and try to speak for the majority which they don't represent. Most people just need adaptive cruise control and will be happy. You can disagree but the stats don't lie.

Either way, better assisted driving features will be coming across all automakers in the years ahead.

Most people just need adaptive cruise control and will be happy.
I'd like to modify your statement: "Most people just need adaptive cruise control [with active lane centering] and will be happy."

:)
