Drive System Warning

Sorry for responding to an old post, but I just wanted to clarify these instructions. I've set my car to charge to 100%. Am I supposed to then unplug it and let it sit for 72 hours, or can I leave it plugged in? I am seeing the same drive system warning that others seem to be experiencing in the thread.
I believe that the car is supposed to be unplugged from the charger for 72 hours for the battery rebalancing process to run its course. I am doing this for my car due to the drive system alert. I also closed out of our iphone Lucid apps so that the car would not wake up when we walked by the car. Our key fobs are in farraday-type pouches. Good luck!

Just go to service you need a new motor
I've gone to service, but so far there's been no response, so I thought I would try the rebalancing effort. Also, my car is no longer under warranty. I don't know if the motors are covered by the battery warranty, so this is going to cost me if it's required.

I think they are.

Drive system warning does not necessarily mean new motor (mine was a coolant valve that needed replacing). Also, battery and motors are under 8 Years / 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) warranty.

even if its a coolant valve (I guess they had the wrong coolant filled at factory or something like that, mine had to be replaced as well), you'll want to get it fixed because it will certainly lead to some sort of more expensive failure. At least pay for a diagnostic so you know what you're really looking at.

No argument there. I'm just trying to do things in parallel. If all that's required is battery rebalancing, at least I've gotten the process started. I'm still waiting for the service center to reach out. It is Monday morning, so I don't expect I'll hear anything until the end of today or tomorrow at the earliest. The service center here in Cold Water, Michigan, which is the closest one to me, seems like it's a little more backed up than other ones because it covers a wider service area.

Sorry, I see that now in the replies: the battery and motor are covered under the 8-year, 100,000-mile warranty. I don't know why, for some reason, I assumed it was purely the battery, not the drivetrain.

Update: I did what you guys recommended, and I charged the car up to 100%. I was going to do 90%, but I went. I'm glad I did 100%.

I plugged it in, let it charge, and then unplugged it and let it sit for 3 days. When I came back, the drive system warning had disappeared, but I noticed that over those 3 days, it had lost about 10%, so it went from 100% to 90%. I thought that was interesting. I didn't think it would consume that much energy just sitting around for 3 days.

I also had the good fortune to be then driving the car to the airport, where it was also going to sit for another 3 days. When I picked it up this morning after I let it sit for 3 days, the battery had dropped by another 15% over those 3 days. Now, I'm not exactly sure what the battery level was when I left it at the airport, but I want to say it was probably right about 80%, maybe a little higher. It dropped to 65%. Is this normal? Is this what I should expect when I am making these changes? Losing 5% a day in vampire energy consumption doesn't seem normal to me.

Also, on another note, I'm really disappointed in the service center.
- I called Lucid Customer Care a week ago, last Thursday
- They opened up a ticket.
- On Friday, I contacted the Cold Water service center and left them a voicemail, but didn't hear anything from them.
- I called again on Monday, but no one picked up.
- On Thursday, I followed up with an email with the same information.

it's Sunday now, and I still haven't heard anything from them. Really disappointed in the service this time around

Unplugged. The car needs to not wake up at all, which means no keys near it or charging.

Yes, unplug the car, put the keys in a Faraday cage, and remove the Bluetooth mobile key from the phone. I didn't delete the app, but I did remove the connection.

That’s definitely faster consumption than normal, but batteries are weird after they rebalance. At this point, you can charge it up and see if that changes the rate of decrease.

What is the acceptable vampire drain rate? My car seems to lose 1% every couple of days. The Polestar 2 loses none.

Very limited sample, but I've left my Air at the airport garage for 8 days at around 50% and returned to find zero loss. Of course, a smaller pack will be more likely to show a percentage drop.

I'm not sure how high/low the ambient temp would need to be to impact vampire drain, but in my case it was between 50 and 70°F. Perhaps outside in 10° or inside an enclosed garage at 115° would see much different results.

So "vampire drain" is tied to how many times the car gets woken up. Also if you have your AC/heating turned on, I assume that increases it as well. So at the airport, unless you are waking the car with your app, there should be little vampire drain. I agree with @borski, charge up the batteries to 100% again and see if the behavior changes.

I am actually surprised how often my car "wakes up" from proximity to my phones. The phones are far enough that 99% of the time there is no connection. But it's pretty reliable that each day my car tells me that auto lock/unlock has been disabled because of how many times my car has been unintentionally awakened...
