- 2027 Gravity
I'm a new owner of a 2027 Gravity Touring and have been surprised by how loud the pedestrian warning system is inside the cabin.
I've spent some time characterizing it:
- 1–10 MPH: Essentially inaudible inside with windows closed. Heard with the windows fully open.
- 10–17 MPH: Progressivly noticeable inside the cabin.
- 17–22 MPH: Extremely prominent, to the point that normal music or podcasts don't mask it. My commute has me in this speed range regularly. :-(
- Above 22 MPH: Sound cuts off completely.
The abrupt cutoff makes it relatively easy to distinguish from tire or drivetrain noise. My understanding is that FMVSS 141 requires pedestrian warning sounds at speeds up to 30 km/h (18.6 MPH), so unfortunate that the system continues operating until approximately 22 MPH. More importantly, I'm surprised by how much of the sound enters the passenger compartment, particularly just before it shuts off.
One of my windshield wiper blades was installed incorrectly, so the car needed service shortly after delivery. I took the Lucid technician for a ride, and he acknowledged that the noise was objectionable. He suggested contacting customer service and mentioned that covering the speaker openings underneath the vehicle might reduce the noise.
I'm curious whether other Gravity owners experience the same thing, particularly the dramatic increase in volume between 17 and 22 MPH. Has anyone received an explanation or solution from Lucid? Searcing here i didn't come across much info.
