Lucid Cosmos Specifications

Yes I think Kyle at OOS mentioned it looked something like the prius which has something like what you described.
Yeah, the newest investor documents from the Q2 Earnings call looks like the rear window will be in two pieces

Also looks like we have a front end photo under camo

Just sharing some of my notes on what Silvio Napoli talked about during the Q2 earnings call. On midsize: Napoli has driven the latest Cosmos prototype and says it is true to the Lucid DNA and he was very impressed. Cosmos will still be the first out of AMP-2 and out of the midsize program. Midsize will launch ONLY when all process requirements are passed, not repeating past product launches.

Personally, I would not be surprised if official midsize launch will be delayed into 2027, and I respect that Napoli has emphasized that they do not intend to repeat past mistakes. Silvio has alluded that AMP-2 will be ready for production in early 2027, with ramp up in the 2nd half of 2027, though no explicit news yet

They always say that, of course. They have to. I'm sure they said that before the Gravity launch too. Hopefully it ends up being accurate this time.

Agreed that a delay into 2027 is probably more realistic, just based on track record alone. And treat being on-time and mostly problem-free (if it happens) as a happy surprise.

I'm pretty sure that is what Silvio stated. Cosmos would be built at Amp 2 which would begin production in early 2027 with ramp up in 2nd half of year. Thus, Cosmos IS coming in 2027 and not end of 2026. Most likely, won't see any meaningful deliveries until 3rd or 4th quarter of 2027, assuming there are no further delays. I hope they officially reveal the Cosmos within the next 2 or 3 months as I'm anxiously waiting to see what they've put together. However, that is just out of curiosity and not because I'll be getting one.

Nice catch! Next question is how much it costs to get 400 miles.... $50k seems too good to be true
I hope he didn’t confused with Gravity. If cosmos can get 400 miles then we have a hot product.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 400+ miles is in Grand Touring trim, but if the Pure trim can get even close to 400 miles at sub $50k I think midsize would be a winner!

The investor day slide deck says that the AWD trims have efficiency of 4.35 to 4.5 and RWD trims have much higher efficiency. Assuming the RWD has a battery of 80kwh, it’s quite possible the RWD ends up with very high EPA number.

The question is what EPA cycle they would be using to achieve the EPA rating. Note that Tesla Model Y is rated on 2 cycle test and the slide deck compares its atlas efficiency to this.

Can’t wait for them to reveal it and publish the specs.

Can the company survive until Q3 of 2027 ? The Cosmos Is the pivotal product and it would need to be genuinely best in class to hell the company survive and grow.

More funding must be secured; the question is on what terms.

No one here is going to know. However, I hope they understand that they need to offer more affordable and dependable vehicles. They also need to invest time in updating their current models and diversifying their product lineup. I really think they should release the Earth and Cosmos around the same time to give customers more options and build momentum. Even if they were selling 20,000 vehicles per quarter, they would still need additional capital to sustain and grow the business. It’s going to be a long road ahead.

I hope you are wrong on this. R2's "330" mile range is just not good enough for winter climates. That is for road tires. . . Replace with all terrain and you are down to 307 miles. Now factor in highway speeds, which is the only speed that matters for real world range and you are well under 300 miles. Now add winter conditions and you may be lucky to break 200 miles, particularly if hauling a family. In my own opinion, that is just not enough to be a reliable road trip vehicle, and this is not the vehicle category in which it is an "extra" vehicle, it has to be a workhorse. Lets hope Cosmos shoots for a brand consistent 400 miles or so.
Agreed. If after AWD on an R2 100% EPA Range is 330 miles. Less so as time goes on. Plus this version may use LFP, thus the lower range. Also, if have to go up mountains say 100 feet to 8000 (do it at least 2 times a month) to get to snow shoeing or skiing or hiking or.... in the winter that can take at least 200+ just up the hill from the battery to do that. I agree you are getting a vehicle like this (most likely) to get out into nature where there may not be any charging for miles and miles. If you live on the mountain with a charger close at hand this will work out great, if you live a distance and have to go up the mountain to get to your location, then the R2 is not a good choice. So the Cosmos must do better than the ix3 50 drive and the EX60 p12 on range, closer to the Gravity. Course for 50K that is a pipe dream!!

Based on their comments it should be achievable with the new powertrain. I just hope they are truly testing the crap out of it for reliability.

Another thing to consider is that there are Chinese suppliers involved with the parts for midsize, and if you look at the state of the EV landscape (and to an extension, the supplier landscape) for Chinese EVs and their sub-brands, there's an enormous spread of options for Lucid. On the one side of the spectrum you have the likes of Volvo EX60, Jaecoo J8, BYD Seal, etc., all offering good specs for a very competitive price. On the other hand, you also have the Lotus Evija, the Yangwang U9, etc., with top-end performance.

From what I see, Lucid sourcing parts from Chinese suppliers offers them the following advantages:
- Achieve desired performance targets for a specific part for a much lower pricepoint
- Achieve even more performance for a specific part that would cost the same from a supplier outside of China

Lucid has mentioned in their prior investor day events that they have been able to achieve desired cost reductions such that they were able to re-deploy those funds elsewhere in the vehicle and/or provide greater returns. Only time will tell how many of such choices Lucid has made in order to achieve the $50k price point.

I'm not expecting the base price for the 400-mile model to be $50k. Seems too good to be true. My guess is $60k for that range.

Lucid vehicles are range kings. Take advantage of that. Don’t limit your high range vehicles to the top trim.

Make all vehicles with highest range, and let customers pick options. Stop having low range touring trim. It doesn’t move because why pay that much for a 300 mile vehicle? Imagine if they had a base 450 mile Gravity for 80k….they can sell them without incentives. Total cluster having all these trims and options. Total crapshoot marketing….

If you stuff the battery full of nickel-based chemistries you have to take into account the 80% charge limit. LFP has been improving such that 100% LFP is within striking range of 80% on nickel. Sometimes even beating the 80% charge limit.

And on top of that, LFP still has the cost advantage to nickel.

Here's a good video that breaks it down:
