QUESTION Prospective buyer questions

I like the Gravity but would never get one because it is way too large for me. My wife and I are retired and do not need such a large SUV. I actually find the ix3 more appealing for our needs, but not sure I like the BMW squished grill on the front. Saw one in white at the Dealership. I liked it better in the pictures before I saw it in real life. Maybe in a darker color the grill would not stand out as much.

Well, that eliminates this car for me. I still have one of my potential sights on a BMW electric M3, but I'll have to wait till it's released and reviewed before I can come to any conclusion.

Quite a bit of subjective comment in this one - had to stop watching and let it play in the background while I did other stuff.

It's on my shortlist for my wife's Polestar 3 replacement - but, I'm confident we can decide if the feel, displays, etc. are something we like.

"It feels good for a first generation car". Yep - were you expecting a second iteration from the first generation?

Sorry, couldn't help it. I'm all for opinion, but not when it is presented as fact.

I'm thinking slash hoping the iX5 is going to be better, but it's a much bigger car...

Weird BMW is evolving back to, and not away from, shared platforms. No frunk (there's a non-US shop offering aftermarket). Then the load floor has to be ~1 foot higher than Gravity. I know it doesn't compare, but we're here. I didn't like Savagegeese glossing over the drive with expansion joints, but agree about on-screen vent controls. Having sat in one, yesterday, the steering wheel isn't, IMO, deal-breakingly square. I respect the ergonomics of putting a screen up, and deep, as opposed to putting the cart before the horse with a lower TFT leading to somehting 13.5" x 10.5", so people can see it.

fwiw we have both a BMW iX and a Gravity and the Gravity does not feel any larger than the iX to drive and in some ways is more agile. Lucid has done an amazing job of packaging all the space.

I was about to make a similar comment... My suggestion would be to test drive the Gravity because in my experience it doesn't feel large when you drive it, it has a sedan kind of feeling

It's not totally about the driving experience. It's fact that the car is too large as far as getting out of tight parking spots or even finding a parking spot that is big enough to accommodate the car. Don't have enough room between them to fit in such a large car or the car sticks way out of the parking spot. My previous car was a 2018 Porsche Panamera turbo with rear wheel steering. My Panamera car felt like it had a better turning diameter than my present lucid air AGT even though my Panamera was a larger car. For my needs, the Gravity is just too large. Something along the size of a Macan would be more in tune for what I am looking for, though in general I prefer sedans to SUV's. I just don't care for how most SUV's look. I prefer more sleekness. I do love how my AGT looks however. Just wish it had rear wheel steering as an option. Takes a two stage maneuver to sometimes do a U turn in my AGT, where in my larger Panamera it did the same U turn on one turn in.

SavageGeese hates a new car, shocking

Is the Macan really that much smaller? I thought they were pretty close in size to the Gravity.

Macan size: 186.1 inches long, 75.7 inches wide (excluding mirrors), 82.6 inches wide with mirrors
Gravity size: 198.2 inches long, 87.2 inches wide with mirrors

So the gravity is 12.1 inches longer and 4.6 inches wider

That was my exact experience when I test drove the Gravity. I parked my iX next to it, and I was surprised by how similar the two are in size. And the Gravity felt like a responsive, agile car.

The Macan is tiny compared to the Gravity. I test drove the Macan electric right after my Gravity drive (the dealer was only a mile away). The Macan is small and far more agile and responsive than the Gravity. The Macan feels much more like a 911 than an SUV.

Unless the Macan EV is different than the ICE Macan the difference in size is 12.1" long and 4.6" wide from the Gravity. I'm not sure what would be called "small" but I wouldn't consider a 186" length (Macan Length) to be "small" and definitely not "tiny". My 1984 Honda Civic hatchback was a small car in size (150" long and 64" wide) and the 1997 BMW Z3 I had was also a fairly small car (though it was larger than the Honda at 158.5" long and 66.6" wide (without mirrors)). The rear wheel steering makes the Gravity fell like a smaller car.

The Macan looks and drives much smaller than the Gravity and iX. Like I said, when I dove the three back-to-back-to-back, the iX and Gravity felt relatively similar while the Macan felt much more like a 911 in comparison. Steering responsiveness in the Macan is immediate, while the Gravity and iX reveal their mass and length. Same with braking and throttle response.

The use of "tiny" is hyperbole to emphasize that there is a dramatic difference in the way these SUVs look and feel compared to one another. I am not sure if I could fit my bicycle in the back of a Macan, but it would be effortless in a Gravity or iX.

Did the Gravity you drove have the "Comfort and Convience" package that has the rear wheel steering? The rear wheel steering shortens the U turn radius by 3 feet. Note that if you are wanting something that drives like a 911 (or near to that) then the Gravity is not for you. However for a large SUV type vehicle the Gravity drives very very nicely

I never said I wanted something like a 911. I was responding to a couple of posts comparing the size and feel of a Macan to a Gravity and iX. I happened to have driven all three back-to-back-to-back, so I have first-hand experience. Yes, the Macan looks and drives much smaller than the Gravity. And yes, the Gravity drives amazingly well for its size and weight.

"Comfort and Convenience" isn't the package that includes RWS;...it's the "Dynamic Handling Package"

Sounds like you might want to look at the Cosmos when it hits next year.

Stopped by the BMW dealership today for my wife to test drive an iX3 Neue Klasse. Only spent 15 minutes in it and she was driving, but I liked Panoramic Vision alot. Larger displays than I expected from news article pictures and a whole new way of providing information in an interior with limited other screens. I liked it.

Live in Michigan, so we are not strangers to rub strips - made sure we drove on a road with said strips and did not hear or feel the noise Savage Geese was complaining about.

Definitely on my short list for the end of the Polestar 3 lease next Spring. Midsize won't be mature enough, so we have to find an alternative. Still have other manufacturers to drive, but at first glance, I liked the iX3 alot.

Sorry @SavageGeese.
