Lucid Gravity
I recently leased a 2026 Lucid Gravity Touring and wanted to share my purchase experience, particularly for anyone considering taking delivery near the end of a promotional month.
First, I want to make one thing clear. I really like my Gravity.
This post is not about the vehicle itself. It is about the sales experience and the information that influenced my decision about when to take delivery.

I had already decided to wait for September

On August 23, after discussing the purchase with my wife, I emailed my Lucid Sales Advisor and told him we had decided to cancel our current order and wait for the September deals.
I wasn't walking away from Lucid. In the same email, I wrote:
“I promise you that I will revisit your office no later than September 6 and place the order at that time.”
At that point, my plan was clear. I was going to wait a few more days and see what September brought.
On August 24, I specifically asked what would happen if Lucid introduced a significantly better promotion beginning September 1, just a few days after my planned delivery.

My Sales Advisor correctly explained that Lucid did not offer price protection.
He also wrote:

“It’s been my experience that most of the credit incentives stay the same…”
He then wrote:
“The issue would really be more of diminishing and undesirable inventory, most of Californias inventory has sold out.”
Those statements mattered to my decision.
At the time, the 2026 model year inventory I was personally seeing also appeared very limited.
Based on the information available to me, I reconsidered my decision to wait and ultimately took delivery on August 29.

Then September 1 arrived

Three days later, Lucid's September incentives for 2026 model year vehicles changed.
For my particular circumstances, I calculated the potential difference at approximately $3,500, consisting of an additional $2,500 Lucid Credit and a $1,000 Demo Credit.
I had completed a Lucid demo drive and placed my order the same day. Based on my reading of the September offer requirements, I believe I would have qualified for the Demo Credit had I ordered under the September program.

Of course I was disappointed.
But if my entire story were simply, “I took delivery on August 29 and Lucid offered a better deal on September 1,” I would consider that unfortunate timing and move on.
Promotions change. I understood that possibility when I signed my lease.
What bothered me much more was the inventory I personally observed.

What I saw with the inventory

I had been regularly checking Lucid's 2026 model year Gravity inventory before taking delivery and through the end of August.
The inventory I was seeing appeared quite limited.
On September 1, when I checked Lucid's inventory again, I personally observed substantially more 2026 model year Gravity inventory than I remembered seeing before the end of August.
Some of those vehicles were configurations I would have preferred.
My recollection is that there was actually more 2026 inventory displayed on September 1 than when I checked again on September 2.
There is one important limitation to what I can document.

I did not take screenshots on August 31 or September 1.

At the time, I trusted the information I had received and had no reason to think I would later want a record of Lucid's inventory pages.
I began taking screenshots on September 2, when a substantial amount of 2026 model year Gravity inventory was still displayed.
So I can describe what I personally observed on September 1, but I cannot independently document the exact inventory difference between August 31 and September 1.
I also don't know why the inventory displayed on Lucid's website changed. There could be ordinary explanations such as cancellations, reallocations, vehicles being released into inventory, changes in availability status, or other inventory processes that I have no visibility into.

I am not alleging that Lucid intentionally withheld, concealed, or manipulated inventory. I don't have evidence that would allow me to make that claim.

I'm simply sharing the sequence I personally experienced:

August 23: I told Lucid in writing that I had decided to wait for September.
August 24: After specifically asking about the possibility of better September incentives, I was told that incentives had generally remained similar in my Sales Advisor's experience and that the greater concern was diminishing and undesirable inventory, with most California inventory already sold out.
August 29: I took delivery.
September 1: The potential incentives applicable to my circumstances improved by approximately $3,500, and I personally observed substantially more 2026 model year Gravity inventory than I remembered seeing before the end of August.
September 2: A substantial amount of 2026 model year inventory was still displayed, and I began documenting it with screenshots.

That sequence, rather than simply missing a promotion by three days, is what caused me to lose confidence in the sales process.

Lucid reviewed my concerns

I raised the matter with Lucid and eventually had a lengthy conversation with a Director in Lucid's Customer Experience organization.
I appreciated that he took the time to listen and later provided Lucid's position to me in writing.
I asked that the complete circumstances receive one final review at the senior leadership level.
Lucid subsequently confirmed to me in writing that my experience and concerns had been reviewed by its senior leadership team, including the circumstances surrounding my purchase and my inventory concerns.
Lucid ultimately decided not to provide a post delivery adjustment.
Lucid did provide me with an additional $500 merchandise credit as a goodwill gesture, which I received and appreciate.
I think it's important to include that because I want to present Lucid's response fairly.

Why I'm sharing this

I'm not saying Lucid legally owed me $3,500.
I'm not saying my Sales Advisor knew what the September incentives would be.
And I'm not alleging that Lucid intentionally manipulated or concealed inventory.

I'm sharing what happened because I had already decided to wait for September, reconsidered after receiving specific information about incentives and limited inventory, and then only days after taking delivery encountered both different incentives and a substantially different 2026 model year inventory picture.

That experience affected my confidence in the sales process.
I have retained the original August 23 email, my August 24 email and the Sales Advisor's response, my September 2 inventory screenshots, and Lucid's written responses confirming the senior leadership review.
I'm happy to share the relevant documentation if someone has a genuine interest in seeing it.

Most importantly, I'd like to hear from anyone who was actually shopping for a Lucid around August 31 or September 1.
Did you notice a significant change in the displayed 2026 Gravity inventory around September 1?
Were you given similar information about limited 2026 inventory near the end of August?
If anyone happened to take inventory screenshots around August 31 or September 1, I'd be particularly interested in comparing what you saw.

I still really like my Gravity. I'm sharing this because I think other buyers should know about my experience, and I'm genuinely interested in whether anyone else observed something similar.

Thank you for the very fair and balanced post. I wish more people would take the time to do this. Since my gravity purchase was last year, I will let others comment on their recent purchase experiences.

My experience was: bought a GGT last year, paid full MSRP for it, zero incentives, endured all the available software and hardware greatest hits, experienced the unattainable advertised EPA range and now I am left to enjoy the depreciation. My IQ level is under review...

Haha, you definitely make my $3,500 complaint sound pretty minor 😂 Hopefully we both have better luck with Lucid from here.

Pretty sick when it’s running right tho am I right?

I'm a little confused - albeit, that isn't unusual! 🤣

Lucid certainly does not owe you $3.500 and the sales rep certainly cannot disclose incentives until they are announced by corporate.

With regard to inventory, did most buyers here make decisions based on online inventory or did they contact a sales advisor? In my own case, when I made a decision to forgo Lunar Titanium, a sales advisor found a Gravity Dream Edition that had just been released by a customer. I'm sure there were no Dream Editions on the site when I was searching.

I'm glad you are happy with the car and the outcome, however I'm still scratching my head as to why you infer the process was somehow flawed.

I bought Lucid stock many, many dollars higher than it sits now. Nobody owes me money. Hindsight tells me it was a bad decision. Yep, but it was my decision.

Trying hard to not be confrontational - just don't understand why the self-induced pain is a Lucid corporate issue.

YMMV

I can tell you 100% that not all inventory they have is online. The Air i got wasn't listed, they have other places to pull from. I was standing there, looking at it, but it wasn't online, and it actually never was even when I bought it. My sales guy had to do some looking around on some other system they had to find something that I wanted, because the one I came to pick up had a problem. And to be fair, a $3000 creddit on a $120,000 car is only 2.5% and I think that's fair to say "generally the same" month to month.

I think we actually agree on the main point. I never said Lucid owed me $3,500, and I certainly don't expect a sales advisor to disclose an incentive before it is officially announced.

My point was more about the overall customer experience. The incentives changed just a few days after I took delivery, so I reached out to Lucid to see if there was anything they could do. They reviewed it, decided not to make a price adjustment, and offered a $500 merchandise credit instead. I accepted that outcome.

I shared the experience because I thought it might be useful to other buyers, especially those deciding whether to take delivery near the end of a month or wait for the next month's incentives.

So I don't really view it as Lucid owing me money. It was more about how Lucid handled the situation after the sale.

And no worries, I didn't take your comment as confrontational. I appreciate the different perspective.

That's actually helpful information about the inventory. I wasn't aware that Lucid could have vehicles available internally that never appear on the public inventory page, so I appreciate you sharing that.

On the $3,000, I understand your point. As a percentage of the vehicle price, 2.5% isn't huge. From a buyer's perspective, though, $3,000 is still a meaningful amount of money to me, especially when the change happens just a few days after delivery.

But I can see why you would consider that "generally the same." I think that's probably just a difference in perspective.
