I had the opportunity to drive a February 2026-produced Gravity GT loaner for about four weeks while my April 2022-produced Air GT was in for service. Here are things I jotted down in my notes app during my time with the Gravity as a comparison in no particular order:
Gravity has zero turn signal camera delay and the quality is far superior to the Air. I thought the Air’s cameras where good and responsive until I experienced the Gavity’s.
The Gravity doors feel heavier. Confirmed this when my kids attempted to get in.
There are A LOT of audible chimes/dings in the Gravity for DreamDrive, startup, and exiting the vehicle.
The glass cockpit on the Gravity initially felt empty but is more natural and elegant after use. For instance, the Air displays that chunky “HANDS-FREE ASSIST” bannrr when activated but is blocked by the upper part of the steering wheel. It doesn't matter because you can see the little steering wheel with no hands. Needs removed in the Air.
Not nearly as nimble. The Air feels like it's on rails compared to the Gravity. I get it; higher vehicle, weight, suspension set up. I'm just saying the Air feels like a sports car compared to Gravity.
UX 3.6.4 is blocky-er than the roundnesz of UX 2.10.0. I equated UX 3 as turning on “Button Shapes” in iOS or “Show Button Shapes” on Android while Air UX had that feature off. This is an analogy; there isn’t a “button shapes” option in either software ( that I’ve found anyway)
Rear wheel steering is amazing to me. A must for an Gravity purchase!
All three kids preferred the Gravity after a month. Not because it was new but because of the height to step into, the extra space, and the deeper footwells/taller seats from the floor.
The Gravity is MUCH smoother and quieter on the highway. The cabin is eerily quiet.
I really enjoyed the local road drive assist in the Gravity. I’ll be honest though - the Air should be capable of what the Gravity is currently doing. It was very limited to specific lane conditions to be able to activate.
I believe DDP is visually processing more than we think. For instance, the Gravity does auto lane change as you know. However, it will not auto change into an HOV lane unless you turn that option on. While I was cruising in the far left passing lane next to the HOV lane with a slow car in front of me, it didn’t pass. But, suddenly it initiated the auto pass feature and I initially panicked only to realize that the HOV lane had indeed ended and I was free to pass.
Gravity also changes lane back out of passing lanes. I didn’t realize that.
Gravity has a MUCH more forgiving “look away” time. Like a couple sips from a coffee cup with your face covered. Getting back in the Air, I was bombarded by “pay attention” warnings after the Gravity.
Gravity Felt like SUV confidence not minivan vibes. I drove a Pacifica for years so I’m aware of the handling/feeling of minivan’s.
The charging door does not auto-close! I unplugged from my house and drove away dozens of times only to have to pull over and close the Gravity charge door. I prefer the Air auto-close!
Simultaneously trying the auto open or close the windows resulted in one window moving slower than the other or not operating at all in the Gravity. One-touch clicking them independently worked fine. Perhaps a software issue but this behavior persisted the whole four weeks.
Regen is much more aggressive in the Gravity. Positive for me - I love strong regen!
Fit nearly the same in my garage except that the rear hatch would definitely hit the open garage door if I allowed it to fully open.
Neither of my garage door openers would work through glass of the Gravity. I had to open my driver window and hang my hand out to open. I’ll chalk that up to thick, sound-dampening glass maybe?
In the Gravity, the parking camera doesn’t auto pop up on glass cockpit above the pilot panel when you get close to something. You manually have to click a button to produce the video feed there. I didn’t know how much a relied on that in the Air.
Rear seat airplane-like tray tables were a hit with kids and devices!
The Air’s steering wheel now feels so thick. Like way too thick. I prefer the Gravity’s shape and overall feel.

Having had the experience for a month, I did enjoy the Gravity a bunch. Would I upgrade? I think if Lucid delivers on the door to door or whatever version of L2 that they promised, I might. It needs to work near flawlessly from launch. Otherwise, I’ll be keeping my Air until the Cosmos reveal!
