Air Grand Touring
Now that Grand Touring reservations have been confirmed for a while, has anyone received any guidance on their deliveries? Anyone been told theIr car has entered production? received VINs? Given a more concrete delivery date than 2-4 months? Waiting to hear about the first Air Grand Touring in a customer’s garage which will be another milestone for Lucid.

My DA yesterday said they're on track for Q1 deliveries. They supposedly don't get the VINs until the car is nearly done on the assembly line. He said that would hopefully be right after the start of the year for me (December 2019 reservation, confirmed 11/2).

I spoke with my delivery advisor yesterday and they are on track to start delivering GTs at the beginning of January. This is the same time he gave me on 11/4 when I confirmed my order (Aug 2020 reservation). He was asking for copies of driver’s license and insurance for registration. He also told me that I have the option to take delivery at my home or at the Scottsdale service center.

I heard basically the same thing from my delivery advisor on 11/15 when I locked our build. Also sent in insurance, driver license, and arranged at home delivery in Colorado.

I spoke to my delivery advisor today (took 10 days for them to reach out). Nothing really new. If I take delivery in Florida, he requested pickup in Riviera Beach (only 15 minutes away). I asked about West Palm Beach sales location and was basically told that is for Dream editions. They are sticking to the 2 to 4 month timeframe from date of confirmation of order. He also said they were working hard about a trade in program but really didn't know timing. I find the lack of trade in option disappointing. It's not complicated like figuring out a residual value for a lease. They just need to pick the right partner. Anyway, mostly thinking of @hmp10, I asked if any zenith red dream editions have been delivered. He thought about it and said actually no, at least none that he's heard about and said the late addition of that color to Dream Edition likely played a factor. But he did say they planned on delivering all the Dream Editions before the end of the year and a few Grand Touring as well.

Thanks for asking. Today marks three weeks since I received the VIN and, as of yesterday, my Delivery Advisor couldn't (or wouldn't) even tell me if the car was still on the assembly line. She would only say that it was not yet in queue to go on a truck for transport across the country. So I suspect I'll not see the car until the last week of the month . . . if then.

I have held on to my Rivian R1S Launch Edition reservation, so I'm starting to think about whether I will still take the Lucid if the tax credit goes down the drain. It's less about the money than about the fact that Lucid denied color choice would have any impact on my place in the production queue when, in fact, they knew it would.

I don't blame you. It would annoy me as well if I ordered a DE

At this point in time, I'm not sure a trade in program by Lucid will be that worthwhile. I just sold my 2018 Panamera Turbo for a fabulous price. The used car market is booming. You can probably get a better price selling it on your own. I sold mine yesterday to a Porsche Dealership 165 miles away. They bought it sight unseen(I sent them pictures) and they sent a driver with a check in hand the next day to pick up my car and bring it back to their dealership. Prices are 20-25% higher than they were a year ago. You just need to shop around. I went on the website of all the Porsche Dealerships online and looked at their inventory. I called the one with no used Panamera Turbos in stock. They were thrilled that I was selling. I will get by sharing my wife's car till my AGT is delivered in 2-4 months or so they say. Either way, the extra money from the sale more then makes up for the mild inconvenience of temporarily sharing 1 car.

A contributing factor on deciding whether to go private or a trade in, is whether you get a tax break on the trade in your state. Here in NY, that means an additional 8%+ addition to the trade value. You still might make more privately, but personally I hate dealing with the public.

Of course it may be academic in Lucid’s case since they’re dragging their feet on setting up a mechanism for trade-ins. I remember asking this trade-in question of Lucid quite some time ago and they assured me a mechanism would be in place by the time they were actually ready to deliver cars. Right.

Here in Oregon there is no sales tax on anything, so the 8+% you mentioned does not apply. To compensate we do have a 10% income tax.

If it makes you feel better: my vin was pulled from me yesterday and given to another customer.
I changed my wheels in mid November and my delivery guy forgot to update the system until last week.
I now have no vin and no real updates on when I will get a new one.

On Thursday, December 9th I received an email asking me to DocuSign some paperwork:

The odometer statement showed 100 miles.
Soon after completing the signing, I was “invited“ to pay for my car. I‘ll be completing that on Monday, since I need to move the funds to one of the banks they support. After talking to my sales advisor, I found out that they have an AZ PDI location, but the Scottsdale sales center does not have the space/resources to do deliveries. They will be only doing home deliver for now. No firm time for my delivery, but it could be as soon as next week.

I am a dream reservation holder and I am told that every dream is going to be delivered before year end…I get my car in 7-10 days. I suspect that starting in January the GT’s will start to be delivered. I confirmed my reservation on Sept 21 and will receive in 4 months. In my opinion it will not take 4 months moving forward because Lucid has seemed to ramp up production and they seem be be hiring for 3 around the clock shifts.

Were you given a VIN for a Dream or GT?

Yes…once I got my VIN and I provided insurance info…I received a payment request the day after

Sorry. That sucks. My delivery advisor did tell me changing the wheels could change your place in production. Why I have no idea.

I changed my configuration to Zenith Red when I did my final order configuration on September 20. When I had my first discussion with my Delivery Advisor on September 21, she told me that cars would be put in the production queue in the order in which customers confirmed their configurations with their Delivery Advisors, and she told me I was one of the first contacts she had. (This call was at 8:00 a.m. the first day after the order configurator opened.)

When I met Zak Edson at the Miami Design Studio opening last year, I asked him about color selection, and he explained how complicated the color changeover process was in the paint operations. With that in mind, I specifically asked if switching to Zenith Red (which had just become available on Dreams) would impact my place in the production queue. She assured me it would not.

So much for assurances from Lucid about anything relating to deliveries.

How soon after you got your VIN did you get the request for insurance and payment information?

I got my VIN on November 19. I have still received no request for insurance information or anything else other than the address to put on the vehicle registration.

Jeezum crow. What would be involved other than swapping a set of wheels and maybe changing a setting in the software? Why would this take you out of the production queue?
