On a trip to Florida (from Virginia) earlier this year, I noticed that the m/kWh usage was getting worse and worse. The car's lifetime was about 3.8, but the usage on the trip was more like 2.2. It took a couple of months to gather enough data to get the folks at Lucid to take notice. When I finally got the car to the satellite service center in Richmond, VA, they found that the front air dam actuator was stuck closed stopping airflow to the batteries causing them to overheat and forcing the car to spend a lot of energy to cool them down. But the car had a second problem where it was bleeding off 5 or 6 kWh overnight for no good reason at all.

After a bunch of back and forth and finally sending Lucid Android app's log to Lucid, they told me the app was keeping the car awake all the time and that was the reason for the drain. Both my wife and I had the Android app's widget on our home screen and that was the likely culprit. We both removed the widget and the power drain stopped immediately.

Between the two fixes, the car is back the the kind of range and efficiency we were used to.

The Lucid folks did say that a fix for the Android app and/or car would be coming in a future update.

If you're wondering where your efficiency went, I hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing--I am sure it will happen to someone else and this data will be useful
(Unless it is like having an umbrella and it does not rain, so maybe knowing in advance will ward off this particular problem! :) )

Seems weird that the car doesn’t detect the stuck air dam since it’s very necessary.

Nice to know, I'm also on Android and use only the widget on my Samsung S24 ultra. The app "location" is set to "Allow only while using the app" and "Use precise location " and the drop is mainly 1% per 30-35 hrs. I don't use phone as a key at all and as a longtime habit I switch off my Bluetooth at home (to save my phone battery) and turn it on only if needed but I don't think it really matters cause of course I forget that I put it "on" earlier and I didn't notice any difference on car battery drop. I also leave my fob at the other end of the house, car being garage and auto lock/unlock set to on. Widget update at about every 15 minutes or as soon as I open up the app pressing the widget. When finish I close the app and the widget show the updated time. Car wifi is always on and auto connect on my house network when in garage or in driveway. About a year ago I had the phone app set to "Keep Open" as per recommendation and no widget installed, my phone battery was dying fast so I decided to deselect the "Keep Open" and give the widget a try. I used it that way since with very negligible loss. So this is my "blend" and it works 100%

What was yours?

EDIT
Here a screenshot of my phone "Battery usage for app" It really show that it works on wifi !

I'm sure this isn't news in this forum, but also found out that the "Since last charge" tripodometer accounts for all power used, while Trip A and Trip B only account for power used while moving. That's how I noticed the power drain while it was idle - the two were very far apart even when I reset Trip A right after charging.

That one I didn't know... thank you!

Thanks! I've been having this issue and it had been driving me nuts. I did figure out that pausing my android app would allow the car to go to sleep...when I pause the app..the widget also gets paused. Good to learn that they're planning an app update to fix this.

I've been wondering what kind of data ingest and analytics Lucid used. I've gotten the impression sometimes that they are missing catching some issues preemptively that they could be. Not that they have the service capacity right now to handle the issues if they do detect them.

[…] "Since last charge" tripodometer accounts for all power used, while Trip A and Trip B only account for power used while moving. […]
More accurately, you do not have to be moving.

A few months back, I spent hours sitting on my driveway chilling to Dolby Atmos while monitoring the energy usage graph and trip meters while in D(rive), R(everse), and N(eutral). My findings:
  • Trip A and Trip B account for all power used while in D and R (but not P nor N).
  • “Since last charge” accounts for all power used while in P D or R. Interestingly, not N - bug or oversight?
  • The energy usage graph accounts for all power used. The “Driving” tab accounts for D R & N while the “Parked” tab accounts for P (as expected).
Before anyone thinks this was a crazy experiment, think of the times you spent doing nothing but listening to music. Dolby Atmos (with Tidal) in the Gravity is awesome and it gave me an excuse to sit back for a few hours immersed in music, forgetting about work and my honey-do-list.
