Air Version 2.9.2 - Pure RWD only

JUST EXPERIENCED "DRIVE SYSTEM FAILURE": I have a 2025 Air Pure that I updated to 2.9.2 about a month ago. I had no issues until this morning when I suddenly heard a rattling/rumbling sound from the car's rear-end concurrent with the Drive System Failure warning flashing on my dash. I lost all drive power while in heavy traffic on a busy city street. My wife was terrified as I quickly tried to get over to the side of the road while coasting. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The situation could have been catastrophic if it occurred on the freeway.

Aside from the challenges of reaching anyone at Lucid Service and waiting for them to dispatch a tow truck from 50 min away (I'm in the Bay Area), after 4 hours I finally had the car towed and was done with Enterprise where I ended up with a Tesla rental. In typical Lucid Service fashion, I have yet to talk to anyone about my car or get any sort of rough estimate re how long they will need to keep it for service. The only hint is that they reserved the Enterprise car for 3 weeks!!!

This comes on top of almost 30 days loss of use of the vehicle almost a year ago, shortly after the beginning of my lease. I had significant issues with everything from CarPlay, Lucid Navigation, Lucid Entertainment Center, and the Lucid Assistant which failed to work. Although I love driving the car, this is extremely disappointing!
I don't think this has anything to do with version 2.9.2. Did you recently get a letter in the mail about a recall for your car? It's for some 2025 Pure models and can cause this exact failure you are describing.

With respect to my first Lucid air touring, I also had it taken in for service a bunch of times at the beginning, and I understand your frustration. Eventually, the problems worked themselves out. I just am now on my second month of my next Lucid, but same deal, it’s needed service at least twice in the first two months (one of which lasted weeks and I had to drive a Jeep Wrangler, go figure), and now I have an appointment about 2 1/2 weeks out for it to be picked up a third time to address glitching issues (one of which was never fixed the first time). It drives great. But just so many issues pop up at the beginning every time. Fortunately, I haven’t had a drive system failure since the software update took place.

I’m still on 2.8.30 lol.

But sounds like the half shaft bolt recall is a bigger deal than we RWD Pure drivers realized

What exactly is the half shaft bolt recall?

Yep - sounds like the drive shaft failure. I am still waiting for my schedule but I talked to the mobile tech here and I was told so far the ones they inspected didn’t have this particular issue to be fixed. I am anxiously waiting for my turn!

You know, I am working from home tomorrow. I’m installing now.

Is there a gif that represents the first soldier running first through the breach? :)
