Hopefully software team monitors this and can tweak it. It has happened twice so I am pretty sure its a difficult scenario to handle for the DD Pro algo. When passing an 18 wheeler on the left using hands free I have nearly been side swiped twice. Trucks of this size take almost their entire lane and unless you accelerate pass them (which I usually do if manually driving) you can be in their blind spot and potentially in the Air's blind spot for longer than what is safe. If the truck veers to left and violates their lane as you are mid pass, DD Pro cannot react in time. Twice I had quickly grab the wheel. Fixes that would help: 1) have the car accelerate to pass a truck 2) have the car shift left when approaching a truck. I am unsure if the car has lateral sensors other than the side cameras, if so those should be altered as well.

I thought that the Air already moves to the left when passing a truck. Gravity does, and I've forgotten if my Air did.

In any event, you can take care of this situation yourself by gently pressing on the accelerator and applying a little torque to the steering wheel. The vehicle will respond without kicking you out of deam drive.

Email [email protected] about this.

Its only on Gravity now but I hope it gets added to Air. It works well on Gravity.

This is a good time to remind folks that Dream Drive Pro is a driver assist, not a driver replacement. You get near a big truck, you be ready to take over at a millisecond's notice.

Whenever I get into a sticky situation like that, I disengage, get myself into a safer space, then re-engage.

I'd rather be alive than try to prove a point.

This!

And, the acceleration many of us do is out of fear and caution, not necessarily because we have to - not all truckers allow their vehicles to slide left. The Gravity already aligns left, so they've thought of this.

Dream Ahead!

Absolutely. If you remember any of your Defensive Driving, never linger in anyone's blind spot. More prudence than caution, and I do this all of the time. Never pace alongside a car for more than 10 seconds or so. Ease forward or fall back, but don't overlap.

(I always wondered why my Tesla was not programed to follow this guideline.)

Do not expect DDPro to save you. We must never forget we are still the drivers, must anticipate situations, and take corrective action as needed.

It’s a trap we all fall into with automation. Sometimes DDPro operates so well in certain scenarios that we are lulled into a false sense of security, expecting it to handle all situations.

There are limits to what DDPro can do. Use it responsibly and don’t expect it to operate outside of basic lane centering.

After a close call like that, I’m just relaxing at home and playing games on https://mostbet.net.in/ to get my mind off the road.
Lucid really needs to add lane bias. Other highway systems slightly shift to the opposite side of the lane when passing a semi truck for this exact reason. Right now the system reacts way too late when a truck drifts. Definitely submit this through the in car feedback tool so the software team gets the data.

This is the problem I have with HFDA. I feel like I need to watch it like a hawk in case something dangerous happens. If I'm doing that, I might as well just drive myself. Maybe you get over that eventually--I don't know.

Yes, exactly this. I enjoy the cruise control that follows cars at a safe distance and adjusts as speeds change. Beyond that all the ADAS seems like nonsense to me. You have to constantly be on alert to take over so it's less relaxing than just driving yourself. Even the lane assist is a pain in the ass because the wheel is constantly sawing back and forth in your hands.
I don't think I want to get over paying attention when I drive

Or just for fun because we can 😁

As a counterpoint, I find it has helped me focus better, as it lets me take in more of the road. Because I can trust the car to handle distance keeping (outside of emergency situations) and lane keeping, I get to watch more of the road at once instead of only watching the car in front of me, which actually enhances my ability to drive.

YMMV, of course.

As a motorcycle rider, this is deeply ingrained into my psyche...
Speaking of motorcycles, lane splitting is common where I live. If I hug the left because I see a motorcycle coming between lanes, the car might try to center me if it thinks I'm drifting out of my lane. It looks like it doesn't check things the way it would if it were actually changing lanes, which sort of makes sense, but it's actually relevant to check blind spots before doing a lane departure correction. Likewise if I hug the side of a lane because a big truck is next to me, I wouldn't want the car to correct itself.

So I'd advise people to hold the wheel tightly if they do any lane biasing.

FWIW, with Drive Assist on, you can simply move the wheel slightly in one direction or the other and it won’t fight you; this “manual lane biasing” is a feature of the system. It will recenter once you stop using any force to bias.

Of course that doesn’t apply when you’re the one driving, but you can also turn off the lane departure intervention and leave it as warning only. That’s what I do, fwiw, as I find the intervention a bit intrusive/aggressive.

That's generally true, but I have had it try to force me back when I got too close to the line, or possibly on it. I'd rather not have it just as a warning. I have not found it aggressive, and it was only a problem in this specific circumstance.
