2027 Delivery Delayed due to EPA Approval

So a day before delivery date, the sales agent calls to let me know that they don’t have EPA approval for 2027, so won’t be able to release the vehicle in 24hours.

After doing all the paperwork, making a full payment for the vehicle, they tell me they can’t release the car?! 🤬🤬🤬

Pain in the a$$ to say the least given everyone in TX has to make a trip to Houston.

Anyone have an idea on how long could I be looking at here for EPA approval?
 
What a bummer! I'm waiting for mine in Houston as well, but no dates given. Maybe this is why.
 
No surprise. The rushed launch of the 27 looked like a coverup of the stop sale anyways. Of course it wasn’t real.

It is truly baffling they run a car company this bad.

This has happened once before, and it is not a coverup or conspiracy. It's a delay in the sale because EPA certification is apparently taking longer than expected. I don't remember the exact year, but it did happen once before with Lucid.

It has happened to other manufacturers as well. I was simply relaying that it has occurred once before and is thus not indicative of a conspiracy or coverup, despite the desire of seemingly half this forum to dive straight into accusations, lol.

It slowed down extremely due to the federal shutdown, so it's entirely possible the EPA is still getting through the backlog. Fiat Chrysler and others were complaining about it too.

it could also be they're severely understaffed to clear out the backlog in a timely fashion
 
My comment was in jest. I'm sure they're busy, but also a jab they certify numbers that are not real world accurate.

Yeah, it's not like they're following the exact algorithm the EPA devised or anything 🙄

(I do wish they would really fix the testing algorithm, and keep it to one sensible one, but they'd need funding and desire to do that, so we're stuck with this for the foreseeable future)

Man what a drag to have to wait for a week. Glad you're finally getting delivery.
 
Porsche Cayenne EV is also experiencing an EPA certification delay.

The problem is they wrote them for ICE and never got around to writing a new set that actually fit EVs. They just tried to retrofit their square peg into a round hole by coming up with this nonsensical MPGe conversion and trying to calculate a new metric (range) that's important for EVs but irrelevant for ICE.

Of course, the EPA is an inapt agency to be regulating EV range numbers anyway (should be a consumer agency), so it's just compounding bad on bad. 😵‍💫

I agree. My wife's BMW i4M50 follows the figures of rated mileage much more accurately. Rated at 469 miles and she gets pretty close to that.

Yes. I rolled my eyes, as indicated by my judicious and carefully considered choice of emoji, in an attempt to convey the use of what some of us in the industry occasionally call, among other things, sarcasm.

This administration fired a lot of people in the federal Gov and are anti-EV. That’s why EPA are dragging their feet.I wouldn’t blame Lucid.
