my preferred navigation is to use the car's built-in navigation and have the big map on the bottom screen and the close up map on the upper screen.

when I use carplay, it'll only show on the upper screen as far as I can tell. it also gives me a zoomed in view which isn't always optimal.

is there a way to get carplay to use both screens?
or
is there a way to get carplay to use the top screen and the car's built-in navigation to show and work for destination on the bottom screen? (yes, this could cause problems because I'll have to set both systems to the same address.)

Nope. Carplay only works on top screen and it is designed (not just for Lucid) to only work with one nav at a time actively routing.

1) CarPlay / Android Auto uses the car’s GPS, not the phone’s. In part, that is why you can’t have both.
2) CarPlay needing to be on the top screen is an Apple requirement

Ambassador of clarity. I did not know that CarPlay used the car's GPS. Have used both native Navigation and CarPlay across the country with no problem. Lately the native Nav is serving me better as it has charging stations and routes around places like high traffic DC. Thanks Borski.

They do this because it generally has better coverage; phone signals are more likely to be attenuated my metallic tint and other various things, so the car’s GPS is presumably more stable.

My GGT carplay is using my phone. If I do not have my phone with me the carplay will not load.

That is not what I'm talking about; if you have your phone and set up CarPlay, and then load a navigation app like Google Maps or Apple Maps, the phone will defer to the car's GPS antenna for where it is.
