New Bugs Since 3.5.1

I have a feeling that station wagon had a lot more outward visibility than the hind quarters of a Gravity. Also, I was trying to pull in between a large SUV and a pickup, both of which block your rearward side views as you're trying to back out of a space. The rear view camera of the Lucid is immensely helpful for that, especially in a parking lot crawling with other cars on a busy weekend. (This is typically the most crowded mall I've seen in all my long life. We make the 116-mile drive to it occasionally because it's got the only R.E.I. sporting goods store on the Gulf coast, and we're trying to get outfitted for a trip to Alaska.)
No explanation necessary. We all rely on cameras more than ever - and I, for one, use them to make sure I am as far away from getting a door ding as possible on my precious, awesome, so cool Gravity. I get it! Plus, I like the 3rd row headrests up, so as far as I am concerned, the back window might as well be covered with Velour curtains!

You guys have parking cameras on your Gravity that work while parking? You are so lucky, mine only turns on after I finish parking to show me how good I did, and even that only happens if my Gravity is in the right mood.

Ours usually don't automatically come on as they do in our Air. Most of the time they turn on (when they're working at all) only because we first hit the "P" button on the Pilot Screen.

I don't think you understand the cumulative effect of months and months of software issues, some large and some small. It has a wearing down effect on patience . . . and brand loyalty.

Have you ever heard the phrase "death by a thousand cuts"? I lived through 10 months of Air software issues -- many quite serious -- before UX 2.0 came along and began to set things right. Going through it again with two more Lucids is turning out to be too much and certainly more than I anticipated after all the interviews Lucid gave about how much they learned from the Air and how advanced UX 3.0 was going to be.

I know owners who have fewer problems sometimes bridle at too much complaining about Lucid. But if Lucid thinks this forbearance means they can launch another model before first getting the UI software right, then we're all driving our last Lucids and just don't know it yet.
I don’t think you’re dramatic I think you’re well spoken.

If you read a few posts above, you will learn that real men don't need cameras to park, even mirrors are overrated 🙂

... and, maps! Why would you rely on some computer thing to get you somewhere? Sheesh... :)

yeah, this is really frustrating. My parking cameras rarely come on at all anymore, and even when I try to force them to there's an annoying delay.

FWIW, I also find the Gravity pretty hard to park; maybe I have to turn my man card in as well. The high window line means you lose visibility of the parking lot lines really early; if there aren't other cars in the spots as reference points, I often end up parked pretty wonkily.

Not installing a software upgrade within 30 days of its being pushed to your car can void your warranty.
I wasn't aware of that. I never read the Warranty terms. I just checked and found this: "Failing to install required software updates within 30 days after notification that an update is available.".
I wasn't installing 3.5.1 because I already have very unreliable fobs and I was scared that this update will make the issue even worse based on multiple user reports. What is not clear in the terms is the definition of the "required software update". They never used this term anywhere else. Do they mean all updates are required or are there special kind of updates?
Installing this update feels like a self harm...

That's a bit excessive IMO, plenty of us on 3.5.1 with no problems at all I'd suspect. Not discounting the experience of people with problems but I'd bet there are more people without these issues than with and they're just not posting about it.

If some cars are having software problems and others aren't, Lucid needs to get to the bottom of what's going on. So far, those of us reporting ongoing problems (and there are quite a few here) aren't seeing much progress.

This claim that most owners are not experiencing problems with Gravity software keeps popping up on the forum. But no one has yet explained why almost every automotive reviewer that got his or her hands on production Gravities has reported software problems.

Are these reviewers lying or exaggerating? Was it just a bad luck of the draw? Did Lucid pull malfunctioning Gravities out of the delivery queue and set them aside for the press?

Please, someone explain to me how this worked.

How many of those reviewers did their report AFTER 3.5.1 was released?

I've had almost no bugs since 3.5.1 and have met/spoken to a few other locals who aren't on the forums who say their Gravities have been essentially error free for them too. I had plenty of bugs before this last update but since then the only bug I've noticed is that my side mirror sometimes doesn't return to the normal position after backing up and one time my DDP wouldn't activate. My screens have woken up every time, my auto lock/unlock has worked every time and all of the weird glitchy things I had before the update are gone.

I'm not talking about reviewers, I'm talking about actual owners that I've met, and myself. As @Coyote said, how many reviews have you seen that were post-3.5.1?

Like my original post said, I'm not downplaying your or anyone else's problems but you seem quick to dismiss the fact that I and several people I know have Gravity that just work.

and there's only a few thousand Gravities in existence and I most of them still have software issues, or maybe they are just giving huge car reviewers the same broken one over and over again...

All updates.
I've never regretted installing an update for Gravity, or over three years with an Air.
If you spend too much time reading this forum, you'll want to live under a sofa.

which is the same thing as having bugs
its like a gallon of milk with almost no pee in it
I'm not drinking that milk

I hardly think the 2-3 times my passenger side rear view mirror didn't return to it's setting after backing up is anything as major as you're trying to make it out to be. I had plenty of pre-3.5.1 bugs but since the update my car has been nearly flawless.

And how many RECENT Gravity reviews have you seen, done post 3.5.1 update? Car and Driver's review of the 2027 model year with 3.5.1 is really the only major one I've seen and it makes no mention of bugs but that's normal as their prior review didn't either IIRC.

Emphasis added by me.

No one said minor or major. Just that there have been glitches and bugs.

I think, as days between updates add up, users/owners get more and more frustrated. Then, 3.X.X will be released, some of the problems will be fixed and we'll feel vindicated that our problems were real. Then, real life experiences will occur and we'll find either new problems or issues we hadn't noticed or weren't important enough before.

There is always improvement with every update - we're just getting anxious.

Dream Ahead!
