Just wondering if anyone else has this issue:

Very often a song playing from XM radio will just start over in the middle of the song. Sometimes it will happen several times in a row. Other times it will happen when I get back in the car a whole group of songs will start over. Last night we went out to dinner. Took 15 minutes to get there. About 3-4 songs played with the DJ talking about something. We eat and come back out to run to the store. XM Radio starts in the exact same spot as when we left the house. Get to the store in about 10 minutes and go inside. Come out and head home and the XM Radio starts back up in the exact same place as when we left home. Like it is a cassette tape starting over.

This has happened several times over a few weeks' time. So the car has 'slept' for hours and I have done the 'Logo Reset' and the 'Full Reset' (microphone X and brake), but it continues to happen.

Anyone else have this happen?

Remember our satellite radio is not really satellite radio. It's based on an Internet connection. You may be having a weak or dropping connection from the car. I've had better luck using SiriusXM through CarPlay, therefore using Verizon instead of the built-in AT&T in my area.

Could it be that AT&T's distribution service (the one Lucid uses for XM) has a lower grade of service or coverage than Verizon's or AT&T's cell phone and other data services?

2024 Air Touring with ssp and the problem (once in awhile) don't go further than the song restarting or not working at all. If I go on Sirius setting page it says I'm not login or the car lost wifi connection. Logo reset usually do the job but yesterday I did a tcu reset because it happens twice in the same day, this morning everything seems to be ok. I don't thing Lucid use AT&T or else in Canada, so...

Yes, exact same thing back before 3.5.1 (which then took away the ability to sign in with our existing SXM email+pw). As others said, likely a result of the shitty cell signal in this car that keeps cutting in and out, and at least for me, the frequent failure to reconnect even coming out of a weak cell zone. Often I'm dead for the entire duration of the drive once it loses the signal. Maybe half the time it manages to reconnect.

I haven't added an actual SXM car subscription yet until that improves. In the mean time I started using SXM thru Android Auto. Which worked fine for maybe a week. Now all of sudden it won't accept voice commands to change SXM channels. Getting a "This content is not available right now" message. Only way it works is to pick up the phone and manually change channels in the SXM app. Not a good thing while driving.

It's like SXM is cursed in this car. Most frustrating thing about this car so far (and it's a long list). And Spotify is no better. Using the car interface, it locks up on advertisements almost every time. And freezes the whole app. Gotta reboot the car to clear it. Spotify thru AA works but changing 'channels' is a PITA.

At least FM works, but I feel like I'm settling for the 1980s when I have to listen to that in my $110k super-tech car.

It depends entirely on the area you’re in, but yes.

same here and in Canada..froze up twice in the past two days...but logo reset fixed it. everything else (tidal, etc) was working fine

Thanks all for the comments.

I have had the XM service drop out, the 'service not authenticated', and the 'no internet signal' issues before and a reboot usually works or it sorts it out on its own. But this is not what I am talking about here.

This is replaying a set of songs or restarting the song over. I do not see how having a weak signal or dropping the connection would restart the playback. I would expect it to start playing whatever XM is broadcasting at the moment. I would expect it to have nothing playing and then when the signal is picked back up it would then play at the current place in the broadcast, not repeat 2-20 minutes of music.

Yes! I've been experiencing this as well, and I think it's a new issue as I've only had it happen over the last 2 months or so. Thought I was going crazy until it happened a few times. It's quite frustrating.

Since the Lucids have no SXM antenna, we're not getting a "live" broadcast. We're getting a streamed copy of the live broadcast (if one of the regular channels), which means we're a little delayed, and we can pause and rewind. There's also a "start from beginning of song" feature. I assume what's happening is that when the cell signal is lost, when it comes back it's "starting over" from the beginning of the song (as if you changed channels) rather than knowing to resume where you left off when losing signal.

Such a mistake not to include a real SXM antenna. How hard would that have been. Never like SXM without the antenna, as the whole point of SXM for me is stability when traveling.

I would not be surprised if SiriusXM is pushing manufacturers towards cellular streaming, as the current satellite system is proprietary and undoubtedly very expensive to maintain. For those of us who do not travel remotely, or at least not often, their service has to not only offer superior programming as a company providing competitive programming, but they will have to charge an extra fee to cover the higher cost of actual satellites. Cell coverage is increasing, so blackouts "should" become fewer and fewer. I think true satellite coverage will continue to decline. Perhaps SiriusXM could piggyback on existing satellites - it all comes down to cost.

I liken it to AM/FM radio - it left the analog world a long time ago. i can listen to local Detroit radio while driving cross country, because it is streamed instead of needing to be near the broadcast antenna. Sure, there is an antenna in the car for AM/FM, but I don't have to rely on it to provide reception - streaming does that for me.

On the other hand, you're reading dribble from a guy who puts a Starlink on top of his car for trips through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so I can stream entertainment and my wife can surf the web in the middle of nowhere. Pretty good definition of "pitiful"! :)

Well, the advantage of using SXM via CarPlay is that you pay for one app subscription which goes with you from car to car instead of a separate subscription for each car.
