Lucid CEO Says Gravity Hands-Free Driving Is ‘Few Weeks Away’ After Delay

Here's an article dated today (3/17/2026) on the EV (electric-vehicles) website that quotes CEO Marc Winterhoff on Tuesday, which I assume is today. There are no specifics other than him being quoted that the update is "a few weeks away". This is consistent with what we've heard in other posts, but this one is from senior management.

This is the first communication from management that the start of the CarPlay rollout that they posted on their website on their Investor Day isn't occurring. For those of us who took Lucid at their word and have been periodically checking our apps and contacting others online, it appears we can stand down for a while.

Hopefully we'll hear something soon!

UPDATE:
Looks like I can't post a direct link URL on this website. Just copy the title of the this post and paste in google and the website will be listed.

(I also posted this message on Reddit /Gravity) for others there who may be looking for the update.)

That source is banned because it regularly makes things up. Here is the transcript from the event it presumably claimed to quote, I believe; the quote is not in the transcript.

In the future, please find better sources (this is not your fault, lots of people make this mistake, that site is regularly nonsense; even if it was right this time, it does not have a good track record for being correct)

That source is often wrong, but he did say it was a few weeks away if you listen to the call. Knowing Lucid, that probably means it's coming at the end of May lol

From the Bank of America event yesterday. It's on the Lucid site under Investors, Events. Play it at 1.5x. Moderator and Marc speak slow enough to keep it almost normal.

He actually said Gravity in a few weeks, spoken almost as an aside.

Now, I am not going to start searching what "a few" means and setting my own timeline for release - but it certainly provides hope for Q2 delivery. Most importantly, it is on the production schedule for this year. YeeHa for all of those who rabidly wait for it!

On the other hand, I have very little interest - I drive too fast and and I don't like the car deciding how far behind the car in front of me my car will drive, let alone making its own decisions on lane changes. I approach freeway driving like a chess match - I try to make strategic plans 3 or 4 cars ahead and the Dream Drive is more interested in not being hit or running into something. Just my opinion.

Great!

We are not against posting the news hahaha.

It’s just that because that source is regularly making things up, it needs to be literally any other source that is known for not doing that.

Thank you for posting a different source. :)

It’s the Daily Mail of EV news

Do you have a Dragy or videos to quantify this chess?

I am the only Gravity on the Dragy leader board at this time.

I was a huge fan of how it was implemented in the Air, where I turned off any auto-lane changes and you could just override the steering at anytime to get passes done and then it would just snap back into the lane. It just took a nudge of the wheel to get over, and kept resuming lane keeping. Essentially as you hit the turn signal, any resistance torque in the wheel went away and you just made the lane change (I can never get the auto change to do it with any speed or authority, and too much faffing with exactly the amount of time to hold the stalk down).

“A few weeks” means Q2 at best. I think Q2 is what they said during the presentation anyway.

When do they plan to on having the frunk open with one button press? That would be an amazing feature! 😏 That and squeak-free second row are really top features for most EVs nowadays…

The squeak is part of the standard package and is included for free 😂 . I had a Gravity loaner from Beverly Hills the other week that had about 800 or so miles on it and I wasn't even 1 minute into driving away and the squeak was already happening.

Lucid did perform the TSB on my 2nd row a few weeks back and it does seem to have resolved it once and for all. *finger crossed*

...in 2027

I want to know Lucid's definition of "a few", and even more Lucid's definition of a "week". This can change calculation quite a lot.

Nope

"few weeks" my a**

Not that we have a choice, but I’d like true fob free driving first…and to clarify, I mean PaaK.

Didnt they say its in Q2? Now changed to Q3 😲
You get what you get and you don’t get upset. It’s like I tell my kids. Or “control the controllables” for those who prefer business.

We have zero control over these features, what Lucid promises or doesn’t, etc. Anyone owning the Gravity now bought it knowing some features were TBD. As I always say here, caveat emptor.

Still loving my car. Main issue for months was fob, but it’s good now, so I focus on enjoying the drive!
