Kyle shares more about Lucid Cosmos

Because their currently track record is good driving, poor selling, buggy cars, bad software, horrific service times before the layoffs even, and a company that exists as a hobby for the Saudi’s that appears lost in the market with no clear direction that has also lost over 90% of its value in a year or so?

Turns out a lot of people didn’t care about the car being slightly more efficient than a Tesla. Lucid has so much more going for it than efficiency, they need to quit harping on that. They’re backing thr wrong pony.

The market said “no”, but the PIF said “yes”. Will it work? Time will tell, but so far, no.

I want them to succeed. I wanted Fisker to succeed too. I wanted Tesla to eat it. So who knows!
Air best selling EV sedan……I rest my case

Yeah, I'm skeptical "normal" people will get their Cosmos before at least late Q1 2027, too. But I keep reminding myself that Cosmos was designed to be a much simpler car for a reason.

It's still Lucid, and it's still obviously challenging to build any car, but this build should make Air and Gravity look like a 500 piece Jigsaw puzzle compared to a 10,000-piece one. Far fewer things that can go wrong doesn't mean nothing will go wrong. But they have much better odds this time.

My confusion is about the AMP-2 SA building the first cars. Does that mean the first customers will be in SA, too? Or are they going to be shipping them over here and re-assembling, much like they do in the other direction now with Air and Gravity? That wasn't clear to me.

If they ship to those customers first, then there's no way anyone in the US is getting Cosmos before this time next year or later.
I think the only reason for AMP-2 is real commitments to the Saudi Govt to deliver on their backlog of 100K cars and hedging the US political and anti-EV climate along with tariffs. That buys them some time to sort out production, get that facility running (to recoup overhead capex costs) and then import to USA. Once they figure out the actual demand in US they ca start spinning up production. The import tariffs from Saudia are 10%, which is not outrageous and compensated by the fact they can get other parts (like Chinese batteries or ADAS sensors) much cheaper.

Reminder that @outofspeckyle exists as a human and is on this forum too, so maybe consider how you say things. Just sayin.

I still feel bad when I was making fun of how long the race down the coast videos are and he took offense to it
soorry Kyle- we luv u!

Model 3 sold 192,440 last year
And that was just USA, the EV sedan market globally is still pretty healthy. Giant SUVs and Pickups are generally irrelevant outside US, and some of China (Australia and Middel east like them too but they are tiny auto markets).

Tesla has leaned all the way in—AI, autonomy, Optimus—and successfully reframed itself as a tech company.
A cursory reading of the troubles at xAI - beyond child porn, Nazi tendencies, and gas-belching data centers - shows that "leaning all the way in" can lead to a lot of faceplanting. Even Musk admits, “xAI was not built right first time around, so is being rebuilt from the foundations up,” Without going into its autonomy and robotics failures, let's all hope that Lucid takes advantage of Tesla's issues and doesn't follow them down the same road.

I am more interested on what BMW is coming out with and some of the other German EV’s. I think BMW is taking the next step forward if their i3 really gets 440 range and their iX3 does around 400. With BMW and the Germans usually their range or mpg are very conservatively stated. Also love how fast they are going to charge. If they deliver real range like they are stating and charging speed will definitely be a buy for me. Can’t wait to see what the iX5 will do too and think the X5 is already an all around great SUV.

So, I think Lucid needs to worry more about what the German’s are doing than Telsa, as unfortunately Tesla has not done much recently to advance anything. Competition is a great thing though and very much needed to push EV’s ahead.

Fully agree on BMW and even Volvo advances in their midsize and sedans. Love to see the tech they are putting into their cars and battery charging/efficiency as well. Remains to be seen how much 'performance' they will achieve in either case, but seems like the performance version for the i3 will be close to the Cosmos.

BMW just released the I3 sedan specs, it has a 108KWhr battery, so that is a big battery almost Air GT size.

I just saw Kyles video on the i3. On paper it looks impressive and with the iX3 and now i3, Lucid has some serious completion on its hands when it comes to the tech \ charging performance etc. They can't afford to mess the Cosmos launch up nor deliver a bunch of "coming soon" caveats at the launch when it comes to software \ features etc.

Yes; exactly this. Much better to ship without a feature and deliver a surprise upgrade rather than make promises you may or may not be able to keep

How are they getting such large batteries in there and keeping the price competitive? The ix3 also has a relatively large batter for its class.

Not holding my breath, but would be amazing if Lucid can get 100 kWh into Cosmos.

I'd rather not have the weight. Make it an 85kwh battery with the same driving range and save 250lbs of dead weight

My question as well. That's a huge battery for a car that size. If Lucid gets 100kWh in Cosmos, that would get to 450mi range. But now, I think they almost have to offer this premium option, with maybe a smaller base trim battery. It will be a decision about whether you want the amazing packaging of Cosmos versus a small frunk and more limited iX3 or i3, and what aesthetic and ownership experience you prefer... could be trouble for Lucid if pitted against BMW in this way.

Totally agree. Another positive for BMW, Volvo, etc is they will have solid software experience as been doing it for years.

Air best selling EV sedan……I rest my case
I think that's a very good case. There's a lot of discussion about whether Lucid really makes the best EV sedan, and the people putting their money where their mouth is have voted for the Air. I refused to take my Gravity order in December due to all the quality issues, but it should be noted that I’m waiting for them to be improved rather than buying something else. I think the market very much wants what Lucid is selling. They need to improve how well they live up to people's expectations, but the basic formula is well thought through.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with the i5 and i7.
