So I'm looking at getting the crossbars but I definitely want Lucid to install. Given that fact and that shipping is $70, has anyone purchased and had them installed by the SC? How much for installation...that may be instead of shipping if they have them?

I see they are still listed as 'early 2016' so hopefully they're available soon. I also assume but let me know if wrong, that no 3rd party products are authorized yet. (Lucid isn't even an option at RackAttack.)

Let me know if anyone has best way to do this.

My service center in Plainview said they were not installing cross bars anymore, due to too many cracked roofs (they had cracked my air last year). They told me to get my crossbars for my gravity installed at authorized body shop where it cost about $500 to install.

Also I ordered mine through the referral store back in October and got delivered in january
 
Lucid installed mine at time of delivery in December.

Hmm...that makes no sense. I heard they are revising so when it's re-released, hopefully none of those issues. Hope so.

They said the same thing about the air, and then they cracked it lol. I think the service center is probably overwhelmed and the risk to the glass is so high that they can't take up time risking a roof replacement, but that's just my conspiracy theory.
 
What’s the range penalty with just the crossbars as well as with the cargo carrier?

🤷‍♂️ Haven't done the drive without. Was headed up the mountain and then down.
 
To anyone who owns the crossbars, do they have a t-slot across the top for easy mounting of an awning? It's hard to tell in the photos and doesn't say it outright.

Mine do not. Just received from store. Don't know if they are old version or a revised version.
 
Okay...thanks for letting me know. Simple clamp solutions out there so not a huge deal, but wish they made it a bit easier with these crossbars. ;-)

Zero. I’ve had mine on for months in various conditions and was able to compare to identical trips I’d taken before install. Obviously, weather varies a bit, but seriously, no noticeable difference.

No. Mine are “original” design.
 
I posted this in another thread but thought I'd update this one, as well. I received the new Lucid Crossbars today and was surprised to see that they are slotted. Very nice change to the originals and will give many more mounting options. I also see the weight "max load" was increased to 210 pounds per the new manual, versus ~160 pounds for the old Crossbars.

Curious to know more about how exactly these slots make a difference?

Also, seems they'd be WAY more useful if there was a rounded triagular or oval opening to put a tie-down strap through above the word "Lucid" on the sides
 
Many mounts use t-slots to connect without the need for a roof rack. I may opt to get the Yakima LockNLoad platform as it will give me more options. But it's nice to know I could just use the Crossbars and directly screw a shower tent into it without any clamps.

They still screw in though, right? I have the G1 Gravity crossbars. They were fine all winter for our ski rack.

It’s an incredibly tedious and unnecessarily complex installation process. Our Rivian takes less than five minutes to put them on and off.
