Heat pump failure?

So is 90F here in so cal. I needed to head out to run an errand and I precooled the car and cracked the window. Once I got in I rolled up the window, and after a few minutes of driving realized the car wasn't cooling down.

I got to the store, left the car on pet mode for 10 mins, came back and the cabin was hot as hell.

Suddenly my heat pump doesn't seem to be working. Toggling AC on and OFF seemingly did nothing.

Anyone run into this problem before?

I have a feeling it's a feature.

Normally I roll the windows, then turn on the AC. But this time I did it backwards, turned on the AC and then rolled the window down. I wonder if it turned the heat pump off and then because I used creature comfort it kept the damn thing off the entire time.

Same thing happened again to me yesterday on my way home. This time the drive was 25 mins and it took nearly 20 mins to get the heat pump working. I could feel it cycle on and off. It would cycle on for maybe 30 seconds, barely cooling the air from the vents, then go back to blowing ambient air for a few mins. I tried turning the hvac on and off, even pulled over and did a 10 second reboot.

After 20 mins, it finally started working.

It was 93F on the way home.... I was sweating bullets in my 120K SUV like I was driving a 3K beater.

Its already so hot! I don't wanna drive like that again.

I feel you. One of my old RX7s wouldn't hold idle with the AC on. I had to turn it off everytime I came to a stop or it would stall. Once in a blue moon I find myself reaching for my AC coming to a stop...

We can relate: picked up my wife's Taycan from service earlier this week and on the drive home the seat heaters were stuck on!... and we're having a heat wave here in NorCal

OMG Ok so I'm not the only one who has been experiencing this. I kept thinking to myself it feels like the heaters are on low, but I thought I was just imagining it. Its happened a few times now.

Oops. I swear its happening to me, but it might be in my head. The car sits in the sun all day, so it naturally feels warm when I sit in them.
