Jason Cammisa just dropped another Hagerty drag race video with is normal outstanding level of production quality and explanation of what the heck just happened. Very much worth viewing. This video is DEFINITELY worth watching. Super close finish.

Take a look at the Drag Race Leaderboard and note the number of times Corvette and Air appear on the list. It could indicate what may be a very unlikely rivalry developing between a five passenger performance luxury sedan and a balls out performance sports car.

The fact that a 7 seat SUV is very nearly as fast as a Cadillac race car:)

Anybody else notice that #7 is a hyper-motorcycle? So there are at least (6) cars that are faster than a high performance motorcycle. And (3) of them are Lucids.

Yes. Standard length motorcycles just can't put the power down to beat the new generation of insane cars.

What we need is a motorcycle with a 1/4-mi long wheelbase.

Really neat video. They didn't showcase it much but you can really tell when the Sapphire's slippery aero takes effect in the last few hundred feet of the race.

They took the opposite approach and pointed out how the big wing on the ZR1X handicapped it at the end of the race. ZR1 and ZR1X both have a drag configuration (small spoiler) and a track configuration (humongous wing). This one was the track configuration.

If you had told me ten yaers ago something like this would ever exist, a luxury passenger sedan out here running 9's and toe to toe with Corvettes, I woulda called you crazy.

Same, tbh. It was the original Tesla Roadster that made me “see the future”

I still remember when I saw one, probably 2011 on the Oregon Coast. It was basically a Lotus I think.
Indeed it was! The body was essentially a Lotus Elise, as Tesla didn’t know how to build cars yet, so they relied on Lotus. They barely knew how to build a motor (and you might be surprised that their motors haven’t changed all *that* much since that original one!).

It was amazing. It was also a death trap. That thing *wanted* to kill you. And I loved every second of the test drive.

It is no surprise that I bought a Lotus Elise around that time; they’re cheap, and a Roadster was not, and I grew up with no money. The funny thing is, at that time, Tesla had ~no locations, so they had someone drive a Roadster out to you for you to test drive (I was in Virginia). To do that, you had to convince them you had money. :)

Iirc, the pricing back then was something like $125k or “for $175k we will do anything you want; custom materials, racing stripes, whatever”

Maybe @Tesla2Lucid remembers better, since he actually bought one
