Same with Polestar 3Lucid's mechanism is intuitive. Simply pull harder. It's what you'd likely try first if the electronic door latch didn't seem to be working. A soft pull triggers the electronic latch; a firm pull triggers the mechanical latch.

I unfortunately think this is going to be one of those events where we (the public) won't hear about the details for weeks or even months. Journalists will probably not be able to report until the embargo is lifted, and my guess is that won't happen until they do a broader public reveal. We'll know Mid-Size specs in exactly 3 weeks (03/12/2026) during Lucid's Investor Day.
"...As part of the program, the company will provide analysts and journalists with an early, in-depth preview of its upcoming midsize vehicle program and highlight select software advancements supporting its next generation vehicle architecture."
Lucid's packaging has really been a triumph of engineering, for both the Air and Gravity. If they repeat that on the next vehicle, I think that does really make an impact in the market. Sure, the average person doesn't know or care what good engineering is. But the outcome matters to them, and having notably more interior volume for passengers and cargo makes a big difference to people. And while I agree that there's a big part of the market that doesn't highly prioritize driving dynamics, I do think that Lucid is on to something with their "no compromises" slogan. Being able to get the other things that you're looking for in a vehicle without having to compromise on driving dynamics and being fun to drive will matter. It'll also make a big difference to the kind of person who reviews vehicles for a living, and contribute to generally positive buzz for Lucid.when the lucid finally goes on sale what is it that distinguishes it from its rivals. looks..it will probably look more or less like the rest, except for the rivian. performance..most people arent concerned about driving dynamics, just about mileage and snappiness when they hit it, so if lucid can give you 500 miles, that will be a plus. interior..they are all pretty nice these days and layouts might influence some.if lucids is noticeably roomier, a plus. reputation..word of mouth, reviews definately sway people . in a year lucid might be on equal footing except will probably still be an unknown..big drawback..... price..lucid hopefully will be smack dab in the middle range of the pack. i pick reputation as the thing that gets you into the showroom
Yeah, that design is plain stupid and dangerous, didn’t they learn from Tesla mistakes? Poor lazy sloppy designing…..The hidden manual door release mechanisms in the R2 are going to get people killed just like the Tesla ones did. That's why I would never get one. Hopefully Lucid makes better safety decisions for their midsize than Rivian did
Just make the stock go up 10X please!!How well Lucid markets this thing will be so critical.
But if the midsize can give 400mi range at base or close to it, it may set this car significantly apart from/ahead of R2.
The Lucid mid size is likely be 900V architecture so it will charge faster. This was a big miss on R2 IMO in the luxury mid size segment (see EX60 which did this right).
We also expect the Lucid mid size to have superior driving dynamics and 60-90mph acceleration than any car in its class, although r2 performance trim may be faster 0-60.
The other thing that may set it apart is interior luxury where the R2 will always just be different - more rugged and simple. Certainly Lucid could offer a more rugged variant. But Lucid may play better competing for BMW and Volvo customers in terms of interior finish and ride quality and eat into R2 with their off roady variant.
Yes but being efficient means smaller battery, better range and they can then spend more money on driving dynamics and suspension at the same cost. I think people will absolutely notice Ride comfort/refinement over bumps, people can easily tell the different between a Gravity and R1, or an old Model 3/Y vs the new ones.Lucid's packaging has really been a triumph of engineering, for both the Air and Gravity. I live a half a mile away from the Rivian showroom and 9 miles away from the Lucid showroom. Nonetheless, I see more Lucids than Rivians although I am seeing a lot of both here in Scottsdale. Also the number of people familiar with Rivian has to be a multiple of those who know what Lucid is. I see dozens of Rivians every day and almost never see a Lucid, and I am in the 7th largest city in the nation. We have two Tesla service centers and one Rivian center here, but Lucid is 90 miles away for the closest one.
Interesting. I'm in NY and Rivian's seem to outnumber Lucid's 5xI live a half a mile away from the Rivian showroom and 9 miles away from the Lucid showroom. Nonetheless, I see more Lucids than Rivians although I am seeing a lot of both here in Scottsdale.
I have to believe the number of cars in CA and AZ are a very high percentage of total cars out there. Don't know, but I think the only Gravity I've seen in southeastern MI was a company car from the engineering center in Southfield.Interesting. I'm in NY and Rivian's seem to outnumber Lucid's 5x
Not surprising since that’s where Lucid’s manufacturing is based, isn’t it?I live a half a mile away from the Rivian showroom and 9 miles away from the Lucid showroom. Nonetheless, I see more Lucids than Rivians although I am seeing a lot of both here in Scottsdale.
