Lucid Gravity 3.4.0 software update

To power-cycle:
  1. Put the vehicle in Park.
  2. Exit the vehicle.
  3. Lock it.
  4. Walk away at least ~50 feet so the key fob is fully out of range.
  5. Wait for about 2 minutes to allow the vehicle systems to shut down fully.
  6. Return to the vehicle and unlock it.
  7. Wait for all screens and systems to fully boot back up.
 
OK, Boomer here. My phone says Version 3.3.22. When and how am I supposed to get the update. Is automatically sent to the car? Do I need to do the in car reset?

Sit patiently until the update finds you. Don’t rush into it.

Rollout is staggered over about a two week period. Your car will download it when its turn comes.
You'll receive a notification on your phone when the download has finished and the update is ready to install.
After you see this, you can trigger the update to install from either your phone or from the car's screen.
After the update has completed, reset your car using the procedure that Marqie detailed a few posts back.

@marqie Thank you for pro-actively posting! I'm glad you're here. As a new Lucid owner, this kind of direct feedback makes me feel a lot better about my decision to go with Gravity.

Most app developers make changes to their apps to take advantage of the software improvements made in the iOS. In a (generally) closed app environment such as the Gravity, an update to the OS requires an update to the internal apps (HVAC, DDP, SSP - heck, even the app that moves the seats!)

This is a really big update and if this doesn't remove a huge percentage of the operational bugs, we're in real trouble. My vehicle is in service, so I can only rely on this forum for feedback, but I'm hopeful that this update changes everything they've found so far, so the next iterations can begin working on the features and not on the basics.

Is that a good sign or bad? Guess they got some early adapter feedback.

I think it's a very good sign. It's hugely important to rapidly recognize, find, and fix bugs.
 
To be Clear:
Wait for notification:
Down load update which will take up to 3 hours?
When complete, POWER CYCLE vehicle:

1. Put the vehicle in Park., Exit the vehicle.
2. Lock it.
3. Walk away at least ~50 feet so the key fob is fully out of range.
4. Wait for about 2 minutes to allow the vehicle systems to shut down fully.
5. Return to the vehicle and unlock it.
6. Wait for all screens and systems to fully boot back up.

QUESTIONS:
1. Should you do a hard rest with the "X", "MIC" and "Break Pedel"
2. Should you then do a Key FOB aupdate if there is one available or is that something that you do do prior to update 3.4.1?

I've had it now for about a day and a half. (Install took significantly less time than advertised) Initial impressions:

- Bluetooth functionality for phone calls has gone from "I don't even try anymore" to "pretty good so far on a small sample size, though having the AC/fans even at level 4 seems to be an issue." Still early days so more data needed.
- I have had no frivolous warnings in 18 hours. I almost miss them. Do my high beams actually work? Is my rear wheel steering good to go?
- Key performance has been perfect. It had gotten to mostly pretty good before, but now I have pretty full confidence. Again, small sample size.
- I still have some charging issues, but I think I need service for those.
- Still pretty buggy getting the climate to turn on from the app.
- Still some issues with the driver's seat not returning to its proper place from easy entry position.
- HVAC is definitely quieter and seems a bit less quirky. No screaming/whistling wind sounds, but still pretty loud when on high and can be vexing to figure out how to actually turn it down.

Overall, I think the bluetooth and reduced warnings seem like the biggest wins here. I think if this had shipped on day 1, people would be complaining a lot less.

Again, full disclaimer - I am working from a very small sample size of not even two days.

Did you get 3.4.0 or 3.4.1 ?
Did you update the fob and replace it's battery?

It's the installation that takes time. The download occurs in the background before that - you won't even be aware of it.
 
3.4.0. I updated my key fob as well without incident. I did not change the fob battery. Perhaps I will come to regret that some day. But I keep a sleeve of them in the car at all times. :)

How are the camera quality?
 
For those who aren't familiar with how software versioning works, the standard that the industry has coalesced around (and Lucid seems to be following this convention as well) is Semantic Versioning, or semvar:

Semantic Versioning 2.0.0

The summary is:
  • Versioning in the format of x.y.z
  • x changes are major, incompatible changes. Like UI 2.0 → 3.0, from the Air to the Gravity
  • y changes are added features, but you should still be able to run earlier versions (i.e., backwards compatible). So 3.3.20 → 3.4.1 includes new features, which it does.
  • z changes are bug fixes and minor patches. Depending on how the software is built, it can be one bug fix per z increment, or multiple bugs that get rolled up into one minor version update.
Given the pattern of updates and the inconsistency between each release's notes, I wonder if the z number in the firmware scheme here is just time-based. E.g., all the engineers check in their bug fixes whenever they're done and they build a new version every 2 weeks regardless.

Just received an email from Emad Dlala (to all Gravity owners) that confirmed that powercycle flow:
"For optimal performance and reliability, we recommend replacing the Key Fob battery and performing a full vehicle power cycle after the update is successfully completed. To do this, upon initial startup from the update, simply lock the vehicle, walk away and let the vehicle power down for 2 minutes. Then approach the vehicle and drive as normal. In addition to this, some in-vehicle apps such as Tidal and TuneIn may need to be logged out and then relogged in for improved stability."

I have been doing a hard reboot after each update anyways just to be sure. Takes 1-2 minutes max and I do it next time I get in and plan to drive the car. It will power cycle when I park the car at my 1st destination.

Doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

As someone who is older than you, please do not infer that boomers are less technically capable - we still remember Cntl-Alt-Delete! What I don't remember is what I had for breakfast...
 
In addition to performing a power-cycle after installation, be sure to use the Lucid mobile app to download the latest key fob software. The steps to do this are:
  1. Open Lucid App
  2. Scroll down and select “Software Update” tile
  3. Select “KEY FOB” tab at top of screen and follow instructions
Also, improved key fob power management now delivers enhanced battery life under normal use. We recommend replacing the key fob battery with this update. Lucid service centers offer battery replacement at no cost to you.
 
Some of those things sound good. Hopefully that's just the high-level description and it fixes more specifics. Like CREEP not staying on. And SXM not staying on the Favorites screen. And map view not staying where you last left it. And inconsistent connectivity causing SXM to frequently cut out, skip, or stop altogether.

There's a lot of things where the car doesn't remember where you left it on the last drive and I have to manually change them back every time.
