Great job starting the video with the explanation of what happened and how the software has changed and improved since the race! Interesting to know that Kyle's car had an individual issue that affected his charging. I don't think anyone has pushed these cars as far as you two teams did and it helps to see what can go right and wrong in those circumstances

By chance, did anyone in your car capture images of the dynamic range dial and compare that to the trip meter? My trip meter tells me I’m over 3 mi/kWh but my dynamic range meter never gets out of the 2.8 mi/kWh range. Something is off, and this discrepancy is bothering me.

I don't have any specific pictures of both at the same time, it might happen once in the video.. But I notice the same thing. I haven't seen my dynamic range rise above that point in the winter either really... even with hours of driving at the same speed, when the logged efficiency in the trip card is higher... now that you say that, it actually makes me wonder if it has some bugs in it... But I do notice the dynamic range milage number being really good. like sometimes the nav will say a negative arrival percentage, but the dynamic mile number is a higher number than my destination, and if you just hold steady the negative arrival percentage ends up going positive.... lots of extra thoughts there, but I agree, the dynamic efficiency number feels a fishy at times.
 
Did you use DreamDrive for the most part? Any concerns?

Even more strange. I’ll open another thread to explore this discrepancy in more detail instead of hijacking this thread.
 
It may have been the car, but I suspect it was the higher charge rates that mattered towards the end. @Cyp , what do you think?
Lucid said that it was temperature sensors in the charge port that were broken, of that specific car... So we can take them at their word, or try to replicate it on another car I guess. It's hard to tell... What I do know is: I had no thermal issues... and Kyle did go to a superchager for a stop and still got the issues there.. My hope is that it was specifically that car, and not a wides spread Gravity thermal issue... and I'm glad I have never seen that too hot to charger warning on mine.

I think it was his car. Cyp you and I both have thousands of miles of road trips on our Gravities and have not experienced this issue. No one has reported it here, so I am fine with Lucid's word on this issue.
 
Charging current is doubled at Tesla superchargers (non-v4) compared to EA. So heat will be more of an issue.

Not really since the power is reduced when charging at the v3.5 Tesla chargers compared to the 1000V EA chargers. At Tesla chargers, the Gravity will pull up to 225kW at 480 to 500 volts giving a current of 450 to 470 A. AT the higher voltage Ionna chargers, Gravity will pull 400kW at battery voltage which on the GT at low SOC is around 800V giving current of 500A. Slightly higher current, but not double.
 
Yes at initial full power. But as you ride down the charging curve kw rates will equalize between the EA, Ionna and Tesla SC. Once this happens currents will be almost twice as high. Looking at the whole charging event kw rates will be similar for much of the time and the higher heat generated will increase the temperature at the charging port at low voltage chargers.

Thanks. I'll take them at their word, especially since replicating it would mean performing +10MPH continuous driving with back-to-back-to-back 350kW+ charge stops in warm/hot weather. 😉

Interesting, and a bit scary, to see more than one hardware issues related to charging on YT so far. We have Kyle's on this race, and a couple of months ago Tom had a Gravity with a rear drive problem that prevented full charging speeds (
).

At any rate, it appears not all Gravity problems are software related.
