Lucid Gravity GT
Maybe I missed an answer to this somewhere, if so, please redirect me.
Lucid Gravity GT. Home Chargepoint charger with 60 amp feed set to 48 amp charging.
Lucid app will not let me go above 16 amps. The plus sign is grayed out. One time I was able to change it, when it charged it went back to 16 amps.
Seems to be a vague suggestion in the owner's manual that it will limit it automatically to a lower amperage to protect the battery.
That seems odd to me that DC charging can go full blast but AC charging limited.
Doesn't the inverter between the socket and the battery invert to DC to charge the battery? It's not putting an AC charge to the battery, right?
Local service doesn't seem to have an answer.

I am not sure why your car is limiting to 16 Amps. The car’s wunderbox boosts voltage and converts AC to DC to charge the battery.

My Air did this with the Mobile Charging Cable (40A charging w/ 50A breaker). It would de-rate to 16A on the Pilot Panel after working normally for about 8 months. I swapped the low-quality receptacle the contractors installed (basically meant for ovens) to one designed for continuous EV charging -- Replacement has a ~2.5 inch diameter vs ~2.1 inch . Problem was immediately rectified and has not occurred since.

Of course this may not be your issue, but it may concern wiring/temperature/contactors/torque spec/installation.

Car you set the controls in the car to a higher limit, like 80 amps?

I called Lucid and they suggested that. The car is set to 48 also.
Same limit to 16 last night.
One other wrinkle occurs to me.
We have a 48 kw generator which is 20 years old. The Generac dealer here also installs Chargepoint.
They told me that because of (some electrical principle that I didn't understand) they had to install a Generac switcher that would limit the current drawn by the charger while the generator was operating.
It should only apply when the power is out and the house is running off of the generator.
I'm wondering if that switcher is limiting the amperage to the charger even though it shouldn't apply when Dominion Power is on.
I will check that out today.

I locked out the Generac load shifter and the app still shows limiter limiting at 16 amps.

I have seen this issue with both my and my brother's level 2 ChargePoint chargers. In both situations, it was an issue with the charger, not the vehicle. Mine was resolved by power it off at the breaker (it is hard wired), but my brother's required a call to chargepoint support who did something to it to fix the issue.

Was it ever working at full capacity? Is it possible the charger itself is set to 16A, which is likely it's default. If it's hardwired (which it should be if you're on a 60A circuit expecting to use 48A), I believe there are dip switches or jumpers in the unit to tell it what capacity circuit it's on. Or there might be some other reason the charger itself is limiting itself.

You can also try to narrow down where the issue is by seeing if you can L2 charge the Lucid somewhere else and see if you get full speed and/or see if you can access another EV to try to charge it on your charger and see if it is able to get full speed on your charger.

That should confirm whether the problem is in the car or the charger.

The ChargePoint's max current is set through the ChargePoint phone app during installation - make sure that was done correctly.

I had a similar issue with ChargePoint after chareging at 40 amps for several months. I called them and they reset the charger so that it charged at full poower, 40 amp in my case.

That's helpful. I will contact Chargepoint tomorrow.

Chargepoint stated that the charger was set to 48 but indeed delivery was limited to 16. They were able to "lower" to 40 and then raise it to 48.
The settings in the car indeed showed it was 40 and then raised to 48. The Lucid app on my phone still shows 16 but it indeed charged at 48.
It sounded as if this was a common problem and the phone tech was very confident that this is a long term fix.

Indeed. 😁

I dont see an option to schedule or limit charge speed in my app. Is this same for all or i am missing something?

Interesting. My screen for this has not changed as far as I can recall in the last 4 months that I have had my Gravity.
There are several items that are not in your app that are on mine; maybe they were never there? Maybe other Air members could confirm that.
Here is what I see between the "charge limit" and "Lucid charge service" on my Gravity iphone app:

I just noticed on the updated app from the app store I now include charging settings and scheduling services...Make sure you have the most updated app...

I am on latest version. This may be option for Gravity only for now. May be another Air owner can confirm they see same as me 🙂

My Air charging screen (it’s in service, so disabled) but the rest is normal
